My Bruv, D.R. Period Is Speaking His Complete Truth!!! I remember meeting him at a dollar store down in the Atlantic City area back in like 2010 and we just chopped it up based on him seeing my son in his youth football uniform. We exchanged names, and I’m like, Fam, I know this name. He laughed and said, “you’re probably thinking of J. Period” I said, No..I DJ, and I’m telling you, I Know that name. Then it hit me and I said, M.O.P & Smooth The Hustler!!!! He laughed and said, “Yeah, that’s me. You have a good sense of music” We exchanged numbers and we’ve been fly to this day. Peace To Math And The Team For Another FYR Interview
Great stuff. Big up.
That’s the hiphop interaction we LOVE IT!!!
That’s dope! Love stories like that.
Love this story man!!! Salute
That's amazing
D. R. gave me my first shot as a young producer. I played a beat tape for him and he liked it. about a week later he called me and asked me to come to the studio.. I remember out of respect he spoke to my mom to let her know where I was gonna be. I think him talking to my mom helped me out alot because she could kind of understood I wasn't just in my room playing around with her old records and my drum machines.
Keep going dude. Great comment.
You still making beats?
Yes still digging I will never stop... @@BlackDotLiving
Thanks@@perrynnlynch1883
And? What happened?
Nice to know DR was compensated for the Blueprint 2 credit error. The beat was 🔥
Need to get MOP on here!
Top comment right here.
That Broken Language breakdown had me on the edge of my seat. I replayed it three times. The energy of that Smooth and Trig back and forth chemistry is indescribable.
I respect this man how he was knocking 15 beats a day , very hard working man and passionate man and great work flow ethics. No young producer or producer could keep up with that ,so impressive 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Damn more producer interviews please 🙏🏿
I agree more producer gems! You had Rockwilder which was dope, Bink and Dame Grease etc. So ya'll definately making an attempt salute for that .I remember Dr. Period doing beatmaking videos this took me back to a good time . We need Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, Heatmakerz, Darkchild and niggas you don't hear from everyday that did dope shit.
omg, bink has been on? Damn, I missed that somehow, wtf? Got to dig through the archives now, ugh.
@@iamreoMe too, lol. Top comment.
@@HoodHandymanWell said and great comment.
No doubt. I have to agree. Good comment.
I must admit that this episode was the best one ever.Keep presenting good content as this and you will definitely be awarded @Math Hoffa
DR Period us taking me way back to the early to mid-80s... He's one of the few guys that really knows what was going on back at the early days of hip hop music. He's basically taking us through the back door of what was really happening!!! Sleeping bag records boy do I remember that label!! I'm loving this. Growing up in the Bronx in the 70s, I'm really appreciating his knowledge. 🔥🔥 Somebody protect this guy he's a national hip hop treasure! Btw, MOP joint..... I heard the flush!!! 😅
D|R Period Is a fu^*ing legend from Decatur Street.
He said I'm going to the club , standing on line , and my music playing lol
Yo that's crazy, lol 😅.
To be fair- Nate Dogg came out on the Chronic which was '92/'93. Before that he was with 213.
MAFF U DONE IT BIG TIME X'S 10 !!! I AM A HIP HOP HEAD FOR REAL I REMEMBER THAT POSTER IN HARLEM ON PARK AVE & 2 FIFTH THE HILL IS REAL WHICH LATER BECAME MOP LIKE HE SAID BUT I NEVER EVER SEEN D R PERIOD IN A PIC NOR A INTERVIEW AND I AM A MOP SUPA HEAD AND HE IS ONE OF THE MOST SLEPT ON PRODUCERS IN MUSIC PERIOD !!! SALUTE 2 U MAFF 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 U ARE IN A LEAGUE OF UR OWN BRO !!! THANKS FOR BRINGING D R PERIOD TOO THE SURFACE !!!
Top comment right here. I never knew what this legend looked like until now.
Sleeping Bags was a legendary label from the 80's.EPMD, JUST ICE,GREG NICE, BREAK BEAT LOU
Joyce Sims
Like Def jam b4 it got big!😂
Didn't Sleeping Bag have Mantronix also?
yes the great Mantronix was also there@@geraldbroadnax2992
The part he said every bad situation is a blessing to God 1: 46.00 to 1:48:00 that's the wave I am on at 42 years and I look 30years old God be the glory 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
heavy on the spiritual connection with yahawah.
Salute to the legend DR Period this is definitely interview of the year that horror core story alone is GOAT status 😂😂😂💯💯💯💎
One of the dopest interviews ever.
As a Nigerian, i can sit with J. period all day, he is such a story teller comedically. i remember seeing him on youtube when youtube first came out years ago, he was in studio looking all animated with them dope ass beats . What i learn from this man is u have to be able to sell yourself with the talent to match your talk only then you can talk that talk.
M.O.P. Been my favorite rap group all-time!!!!!! Back in a time when nobody knew who M.O.P. Was!!!! Now they are truly universal and worldwide!!! Touring overseas & getting that money plus publishing for Ante Up. GOATs! Major props to DR Period!
Now wonder why I liked that smooth da hustla once upon a time in America album so much this guy is dope.
From an African listener : JUST ICE ; DMX ( from the Bronx ) ; LATOYA and MANTRONIX was the BOMB !!!!!!!.....💥💥💥💥
Yep the original DMX hiphop legend...no disrespect to Earl Simmons but he was not the first in hip hop with that name DMX
@@investmentsound902nope he was the 3rd DMX Davey DMX DMX the beat box then came Earl
this is the only show that gets me through my workday i appreciate everyone in the shop and like i said on my last message get Dr Cornell West please and thanks.
Yo...DR Period! Big fan, been an appreciator of your work for years. I made a correction on the Wikipedia page for Blueprint 2 and fixed the credit. Also came to find out you produced some of my favorite cuts that I remember from the Basement Rap City days as a kid that I didnt know you did!! Thanks for all your contributions and GOD BLESS.
Yooooo that Broken Language story was crazy!!! That song was my shit you n the 90s!!!! Salute to DR
One of the best interviews of the year definitely enjoyed this one!!
Brooklyn Legend D.R. Period. Salute
madd underrated. His beatz was hard as fuck and itz madd beatz I didn't even kno he did that I was blown away. My Crew Can't Go For That is one of my fav beatz...instantly taken back 2 9-6 hearing that joint
I was kinda disappointed with my crew can’t go for that cause why the hell he ain’t sample Hall & Oats with Dv singing the hook
@@MrWARBUCKS24Maybe they couldn't clear the sample.
Heart felt interview bigup to BROOKLYN all day Son
I tenda go back n forf wit wantin'a make music n NOT carin much about da popularity part, but after watchinniss episode, I wish there was a way I ca work beside somebody as "NICE" as dis man 💯 Salute'a DR Period ✊🏿
Making music and being popular have nothing to do with each other.
@@spek-27 Inniss music industry, it seems to be about popularity n influence over da masses. Perhaps when one is a producer/engineer or an independent artist popularity doesnt matter, but as an artist, how do you sell records if no one knows you?
@@IMSAllDay I said "making" music and being popular have nothing to do with each other. You're talking about "selling" music.
GREAT INTERVIEW FELLAS!! 👍🏾
Classic stories!! Legendary!!
Great interview...
We need a part two with DR PERIOD!
The money Stasher the gun blast the razor slasher .......the c74 ox carrier , some wild Brooklyn gutta talk language shittttzzzzzzzz🔥🔥🔥

SMOOTH DA HUSTLA ALBUM' ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA'(ONLY HUMAN .. BROKEN LANGUAGE .. MY BROTHER MY ACE .. PHUCK WHAT U HEARD .. DEDICATION) .. 1 OF DA BEST HIP-HOP ALBUMS EVER ..
#REALHIPHOP #HIPHOPLEGENDSONLY
Also, I second the other comment I seen about more producer interviews. Math, your show is better without people constantly talking over you while they are drunk. Camera work looking much better too. Lighting is on point. Keep going..
MOP IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES
Wow this was a good one for us beat makers producers I really hope they get more producers on they don't get the flowers they deserve
Salute to this interview i went back and listened to alot of the joints mentioned
Yo, Me too. Top comment.
Love this episode man dr.period got some good stories...😂 let alone his music is fire....
Great interview
The best episode this year
Great interview. Gat let people speak.🤣
His new tracks are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dope interview
Great interview about the music.
Maan, this man doesn't get sufficient props! Btw, Dialated Peoples initial name was the Flatliners ,but changed it because they remembered there was an original group with that name.
Math and Mecca ain't old enough to remember Just Ice and DMX...🤣😂🤣
“Yo $100 will do a lot” 😂😂😂😂😂
This a 🔥🔥episode
Smooth take me to DR Period Studio in Bushwick Decatur St and I watch how he make his beats at times was my great lesson’s for me , Special Thanx to Smooth and Dr Period for the Blessings memory 🙏🏽.
Salute my brother 🙏🏾 💯
Never heard of this brotha... However, being a fan of HipHop, this was a dope episode and conversation to be heard! Salute 🫡
Damn them beats were crazy 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🔥🔥🔥
amazing. shout out to the bro for making sure that ante up story got told..
True story my celly gave me that tape because he said “I’m gonna kill somebody listen to this”. 😂😂😂M.O.P
Kniggrahs used to wild out all over the city 🤣🥲 I was breaking bottles in my dorm 🤣
Yeah that music definitely puts u there
Damn, that's crazy. MOP had that power back in the day lol 😅.
The ppl Math got rid of was much needed!!
Solid interview and definitely answered alot of my questions over the years. 🫡to Math and crew
Cuzzo Good seeing you .Tell my cousins I said Waddup
This one is fire
Math dead ass annoying me while DR Period is trying to have a moment talking about why he stopped making Horrorcore and Math wanna laugh through the whole thing. This shit is serious.
he was laughing WAY too hard smh
Legend.
DR PERIOD. PERIOD DR. WE ARE ARE WE ....💥🔥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 #CLASSIC!
Great Story Tho💯💯💯💯💯
This must've been taped before Bigga left
🤔YO real talk WE NEED A PART 2 with DR Period🖐 There's MORE HISTORY
WOWWW... This dude produced MOP album... Props dude props I was up on MOP
Gat murdah like that Brooklyn grimey shit thars funny that sewer shit 😂😂😂
Mecca does ask some good questions. Respectfully of course.
Great interview.
I love this show, but they need some more experienced people as a part of the crew. Someone who still hip to what's going on in Hip Hop but has at least 10 years of age on Math and crew so that they would know their Hip Hop history. There was some super classic hip-hop records being mentioned by DR, and nobody knew anything about them.
One of the best producers ever ask Rza !
Dope interview! AZ, Muggs, Kool G Rap or Killah Priest would be real interesting to see on here.
Guys, I built MEO a site as a gift (and it ain’t no amateur site neither) and trying to get their attention. Looking to add value to what MEO does so let’s make sure Math can see this ❤🙏🏾
Salute to D.R.,but I wonder was it true that he was the one to call Biggie and JR mafia to the studio when Boot camp click and Biggie had their “beef”?
D/R is legendary Brooklyn stand up
Damn so much we didn’t get to hear about RZA
Great stage name Doctor period 😂
Another great interview! But You're missing the adjective in the title!
Great Interview IM NICE!!!!
SHOUTOUT DR PERIOD!!!! NEXX LEVEL CLIQUE! Brownsvilleeeee!!! Peace. Provided some classic joints for MOP, Smoothe & Trigga, Papoose, Rhyme Recka… Kaotic Style… dope style! One of a kind. Good interview right here! :)
"Indo Smoke" (feat. Nate Dogg) came out in like '92.
Domino was out around that time too.
Gratitude
This interview should have been 3hrs!
Dope interview! Get Giz of audio two
He met the Original Illuminati that day. I bet Jay Z took that rock and kept it. Now he is a multibillionaire. That’s a joke for all you Hov haters and conspiracy theorists 😂
Mecca looks like he’s going through something heavy right now!! I hope all is ok and DR Period is the truth!!! Great show😇😇😇
Yooo that upside down part about the horrorcore I would've did the same thing
Nate dogg was on the chronic in 1992
Respect
We need more AZ conversation
Latoya was one of the best jams out in the 80s.. Just ice💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
My cousin D/R Period is one of the greatest producers of all time
@ 47:08 I woulda fell on the floor if somebody said "I'm not jackin that" lmao
If I'm not mistaken, The Gravediggaz actually recorded their album in 91 before 36 Chambers. So they recorded before Flatlinerz. It just came out after.
Vlads gonna call you out on the error video title again 😂
Everyone Who WUZ A Teenager Or Younger In 84-86 Had A Dr Rhythm !!
Love it and I’ve never heard of them. That’s so messed up. What is his time to get his flowers?
I definitely had the Blueprint 2 CD and saw the Henri Charlamane credit. He was even in Scratch Magazine over it. And tidal still has his name in the credits.
