Great Test! Very informative. Would love to see the same test on other standard RC connecters. I'd specifically love to see Amass XT150 and AS150 but I'm sure many others would like to see some more common connectors such as XT90, EC5, XT60, XT30 & Deans.
Hello Fellow BBI FANS AND FRIENDS: MR. LUKE, thank you for another scientific video. This video accurately depicts the results of the ULTIMATE RELIABILITY TEST. 1) CONNECTOR PASSED TEST. 2) THE CONNECTING WIRES DIDN'T DO WELL ALSO THE SOLDER CONNECTIONS RELIQUIDFIED == OOPS. As always Luke my best to you & your family, TMP, Unit 22 from N.J.😊😊
Good test, would love to see this type of test done with other popular conx like XT/EC series. Is the connector receiving the full 1kA or is the resistance of the 8g wire too high to pass the entire current? Because 8g wire at a length of just 4 feet has a voltage drop of over 60%. Would the plug test the same with a larger 0ga wire?
Should have used 6AWG(which mostly fits in a QS8) or maybe even 4AWG and just trimmed the strands that don’t fit in the connector’s solder cups. The purpose of the test was to test the connector and as far as I’m concerned all that was tested is the 8AWG wire. The heat from the wire is what desoldered the connector, not the heat made from the connector’s internal resistance.
Awesome vid,I'd really like it tested with 1/0 from charger,he sells badass weld/power wire!!,yeah 8 awg is rated like 60/80amps I think, but it was cool for rc,cb need bigger connector and wire, but good science ex,c ya
Cool test BUT…the 8awg wires in the test are several times longer than in our rc vehicles…granted qs8 plug is tough, but the away wire lengths/leads you used in the test in no way represent how short we use them in our boats and cars…
XT90 is actually very similiar to these connectors. Same design and now with the QS8 V2 they have 600A burst vs 300A for the V1. But still XT90 is only like 150A or something, maybe less honestly. I was surprised because an XT60 is obviously lower than that, even the newer XT60H.
Also having shorter wires will reduce resistance. Resistance in wires reduces proportionately to wire length. The long wires you used here in both scenarios is the likely bottleneck. I think it would be a good idea to retest this scenario with wires below 3 inches in length.

This is VERY informative and helpfull. Can't thank you enough, THANK you!!
Impressive connector. I'll buy a few.

This made me smile! Fantastic test!

Have you considered using silver solder? It melts at a higher temperature.
Oh yes the problem is the connectors won't hold the heat to get the Silver solder to take

Like I giant xt60...... awesome fun, real test

@@mxracingunlimitedltd7784interchangeable ?, nah its not, XT90 is smaller than QS8, the contacts inside a QS8 are much larger.
😂 That was like watching the Variac Pot melter !😮
Can you do this test on QS10P-L plugs? It would be interesting if these plugs can handle similar amperage to larger plugs.

I would say it's a good connector
I bought some of they're v2 can I get away with using these and older model qs8
Can you bottle that smell up and put it for sale please hahahaha
Cool test
14:41 into the vid, looks like me in my 20's, Hot, Smoken, limp after a busy Saturday night.
It would have been more informative if you used the max rated wire size at 6awg, if you’re going to due this type of extreme testing .
Pretty slick plug wonder how hard it would be to modify a HO Stryker to accept a plug like this for a power wire upgrade.
Very cool, thanks :)
Raz does the rc speed runs, thought when I seen perfect pass, also do servos 👍
I do believe the perfect pass is the company name. And I do believe they make quite a few products
I hope that is NOT just a matter of time before you catch your shop on fire
Bbi could not help him self to burn some shit down. Lol
✌👍
why use this cheap cable and not proper copper wire?
That’s not cheap cable, it’s tinned copper inside a silicone sheathing.
Till it Fried and Died....
That's the smallest 8 wire I ever seen
