This is the stupidest thing a person can do. The child needs to learn to stay away from the dogs while they are eating. If she is taught she can go up to an eating dog, she will think it’s okay to do that to ALL dogs and will get her face bit off.

@@rottiehaven1217 Cleary you know nothing about dogs or training them. The dogs consider Collin, Sam, and Cozy as part of their pack. They all live together and so Collin trains them and Cozy, how to interact in any given situation. The dogs aren't violent by nature, they just need to be taught that Cozy means them no harm and that they don't have to protect themselves/their toys/their food from her, just as they don't have to protect themselves from Collin or Sam. He's trying to prepare for any possible problem because anything can happen. He could be with the dogs and something could distract him and if he failed to shut the gate and Cozy wanders in with them, he needs to know that the dogs know her, love her a n d consider her part of their pack. They already do yo a certain extent: Junior adores her, thinks she's his child and often makes it a point to stand over her and "protect" her from the other dogs. He wants to make sure she is "safe", even though the rest of the pack have accepted her too, and mean no harm. Collin tries to prepare for any situation because he knows Cozy has to learn how to interact with them as well since she's still a baby as opposed to a 4 yeard child who can communicate and talk and understand.
Try following this channel and watching the videos of Collin when he has the dogs around his daughter. Watch what he does and listen as he explains why he does it.

@@Rumkitty2000 Lol yes until they bite the fk out of her and this I dee it is too far away to help her. She's too young just stay away while they're eating. You seen how the dog jumped when he touched it. It's just fking stupid to do it. You act like dogs never turn on their leader or someone else in a family. It's happened before.

My Rottweiler was food aggressive as a puppy. What I did was leave him alone for about 2 hours when he ate. I only had to do it once. After that he decided that it's much better getting pets while eating. You could see the tiny furball trying to decide between food or attention at feeding time, walking back and forth between me and the bowl. Then he would always turn his body into me while eating to keep physical contact while he quickly ate.
He grew up to be a very calm, obedient, and loyal dog. He passed away at 14 years. I'm watching Rottweiler videos all the time because I want another.

Smart. Must start that as a puppy. My Nanny Pit was raised right alongside me as a Toddler. So he was used to my shenanigans. Me and the neighborhood kids would be climbing all over him, grabbing him, biting him, jumping on him and sharing food. He loved kids more than anything. Was a good herder of children too. He was very good at keeping, rounding up kids and keeping them from wandering off.

I don't have a rottweiler, but with how my lab reacts when I pet him or get close to his bowl whilst he's eating, there's no way I'd be letting a stranger or a child near him at meal times.
He doesn't snap, bark or growl, but he does eat even faster and it can't be anything that I've done because my previous dog would eat her meals at a relatively normal pace and I could pet her without her trying to wolf everything down.
A rottweiler is a breed that I'm considering, but they require a really firm hand, a lot of socialisation and plenty of 1 on 1 training.

My sister married a jerk with a Rottie and he never took the time for any of this. As Hilda got older she started snapping at anyone who got within 10 feet of her when she ate. I raised my 2 grown kids with Rottweilers and Dobermans from the moment they were born. They learned affection and respect as they are around dogs. I know as Cozy gets Oder you will be teaching her how to approach or wait to be asked to approach new dogs. Please ignore Cross Creek Rotts who sounds as if he is training guard dogs and not family pets. You have always said you are speaking as an owner with a great deal of experience but are not a professional trainer. I have had 5 Rottweilers and a Doberman during my lifetime. @@Simply_Sadie sounds like an oddly specific, and unlikely scenario. Any dog trainer (or seasoned parent for that matter) would know, the sooner you set boundaries and expectations for a being, the easier it is for that being to live within them and excel. There’s more nuance that goes into that, but I doubt you’ll look inward to consider what you might not know, so I’m not going to explain it.

I raised and trained my own Rotties for decades. A way I trained them out of food aggression was to hand feed them as Puppies. If there was any aggression whatsoever I simply make a correction, stop feeding and remove the food. After a minute or so, and a few Sit Stays, resume feeding by hand. Their smart enough to learn very quickly that aggression is not tolerated.

We do as well here on the ranch, however, accidents are less likely to happen, when the situation happens in a controlled environment with a pack leader present.
So for example, if I never let my daughter near my dogs when they’re eating, and she does it one day on accident just wandering into the room.
At least, there is more likely of a chance, that no one will have a reaction because the scenario has already been presented and never been a threat or something to worry about, you know?

We have two males just about 2 years old now, Kaiser and Manfred, which serve as guard dogs for our isolated ranch in central Costa Rica. Despite not having been highly socialized to the general population (that quite on purpose), they are incredibly stable, intelligent and loving beasties. It's uncanny how they automatically know family and close friends, and as long as my wife or I accompany a new stranger they will pose absolutely no threat. But Lord help an intruder, especially at night.
I've picked up a lot of good insight from your videos, but we're certainly not thorough or professional level trainers. Fortunately we've not had to be. The Rottweiler is an exceptional breed and the perfect choice for our circumstance. I honestly cannot imagine the place without those two!

I won't let kids close to him because the first owners told me kids were picking on him and hurt him by trying to ride him like a horse. People and cats and other dogs are great being around him.
