The idea is generally good, but if you made the table what moves, it would be better, because with the current design, you cannot shoot 360 degrees, as the surrounding objects will appear in the shot. This works for taking short shots like you did. You might consider redesigning the table so that the camera is fixed, and the table is movable. This is the best to get a clear 360 degree footage.
I'm sure you could fabricate one that wasn't so industrialized in weight and cost. It would be a hefty cost on shipping I'm sure. Not including the weight plate, what is the weight of this?
