Quick note, some of these pre-installed boxes have well hidden malware. Best to go into windows recovery settings and select reinstall. This will run the proper windows install program from the recovery partition.
Where can I find the reset button on this? I bought one on Amazon and had power failure after a month of light use, the seller won't help and has gone silent for months now.
Ok question for y'all. I have one of these & managed to corrupt the config so had to flatten the SSD and do a fresh install. This resolved my issues but I cannot for the life of me find the correct drivers for the Wifi.... Can anyone provide a link so I can get up & running wireless again?
Just to add for those thinking of upgrading the SSD at the same time as buying this - the SSD looked like it was shorter than the standard 2280 format we are all used to - maybe 2260? Just to point out that a "standard" M.2 drive prob won't fit, it needs to be one of the shorter ones ;) Maybe Thommo can measure it ;)
@@ThommosTech i've also got one of these machines, same spec and everything but the ssd brand is different, its still a 256gb but it says its a 2242 not a 2260
Good review. I purchased an 8gb ram 256gb ssd version. Alas whilst it allows me to set up a local account it will not allow me to log in with my Microsoft account (says password incorrect despite using same password to log into other pcs, even tried changing password, system reinstall etc but no luck). Also the Ami bios version does not allow changes to the ram clock speed, unlike your version. Shame cos it looks cool, and seems quick to respond. 😢
Nice. There's a Reddit post explaining how to do it. Think the easiest way is to open the base of the PC and disconnect the LED lights. Post: www.reddit.com/r/MiniPCs/s/UcqCPIU77E
Try Mass effect Andromeda, that game runs sweet on a ryzen 3 3200g that wee box should handle it fine. I like that wee box you got I may have to get one. Any tiny thing that can run win11 is worth a look. Nice video mate you forgot the brew.
Ey up mi old mucker. On Amazon it's currently 108.99 quiddllies. As for games to test, obviously nothing OTT. How about Quake 2 (pro), Quake live, and say maybe Grid Motorsport ? Keep up the good work buddy, and stay well 👍👍👍 PS: Quake live and Grid Motorsport might be pushing it a bit ... Intel graphics!
I'll give them a go, Tim. Always enjoy your input in the comments. Hope you're well? I think it might manage GRID, even at 1080p. Let's see if my prediction comes true in the follow up 😲
@@ThommosTech All well here mate thanks, back to work now after fracturing my hip when it snowed ha ha! I'll keep an eye out for the follow up video mate 👍👍👍
In part 2. Just buy a kinhank batocera hard drive, boot from it and see how far you can get up the emulator list. They go from atari 2600 to Xbox. and everything in between. Find the cut off of what it will play.
Interesting. I missed this, just ordered one. I thought I'd seen W11 mentioned, but maybe that was in other listings I'd been looking at! Oh well, it'll make a nice paperweight.
How exactly can you have this whole kit for £107 including a genuine Windows 11, which on its own is half that price? Yes I know companies get it much cheaper, but it means the components must be almost nothing. Great value.
It's crazy that there's profit to be extracted at this price point, isn't it? The hardware is underpowered by today's standards but that doesn't stop it from being a highly capable beast!
@@ThommosTech Don't do it! The last time I played that game as a teenager back in the late 80s, I stayed awake for like 48hours straight trying to beat it with a mate of mine. Was 141 on Friday, I know I bought one for (16gb/512gb model), it came, but someone stole it and replaced with a bottle of moisturizer, so sent that back, ordered one yesterday £143, and today it's £149.99!

Thank you. I'm going to do a complete fresh install using the image from Microsoft's servers, just to make 100% sure.
Got this one yesterday. Runs great and retroarch is fantastic too
Ah, glad you're enjoying a good experience Clive. What systems are you running from retroarch?
Hi,
Most important thing... are those network cards realtek or intel ? Thanks

Ah yes, very useful info this. It is indeed a shorter 2260 m.2. Think this is the first time I've been asked to "measure it" in the comments 🤣

When are the gaming vids coming out for this?
I’ve got the 16Gb Ram model. Only 140 on Amazon. Do you know how to turn the LED lights off?

Oh yes! Another great shout. I filmed this one a bit late for caffeine. The follow up will definitely be during caffeine time 😁👍

I was interested but found no OS mentioned in the current listing. If W11 had been pre-installed, I would have bought one.
That's curious. You're absolutely right. It now lists 'DOS' as the OS. Wonder if there's a batch without it, or if they ran out of Win 11 licences.

Mine came with W11 Pro installed.
Bought one a couple of weeks ago, described as "DOS" but came with Win11Pro.

@@ThommosTech The sums just don't add up - if it's a legit copy of Win11. They might add up otherwise :)
Most likely, being a Chinese mini pc, the Windows 11 key will be a hacked key, costing for the company £0 to activate the key.
@@Rodrigo-y9h What a load of rubbish
can you test pimiga 4 please.
Great idea! I'll do that when I do the follow up video. Thank you.
I wont to see if can do Photo or video editing
Test: Minecraft Java, Project Zomboid, Rimworld, and Dwarf Fortress (not steam version)
Superb suggestions. Thank you. I'll try cover all of these on the follow up.
R-type arcade version, best game ever
I can definitely give that a go! Great game!
