- Today, we are going on to discover a fantastic bakery in the south of France, managed by a young couple, Kévin & Laurine. I featured Laurine in a previous video, a very hard-working woman baker who works non-stop all day and bakes by herself more than 300 breads per day!
We will check out Kévin's work with is focused on famous French pastries, cakes & tarts. He works alone non-stop from 4am until the closing time at 8pm.
He makes a wide range of delicious 'pâtisseries'. Everyday, he makes more than 10 types of French cakes & tarts, all made from scratch by hand, ranging from the emblematic 'éclair', raspberry & strawberry tart, 'tarte citron meringuée' to 'mille-feuille' and 'baba au rhum'.
Located in 'Cavignac', a small village in the southwest of France, this 'boulangerie-pâtisserie' is managed by a young couple in their late 20s. Kévin is the master 'pâtissier' chef who makes pastries and cakes, while Laurine is the master bread baker. When the previous owner retired, they took over the bakery in early 2022, but Laurine is an experienced baker with more than 12 years of experience. Every day, she prepares and bakes more than 300 breads by herself!
In a small village where the competition is high, they quickly became one of the favorite bakeries among the locals. So much so, that they were featured in the famous TV show 'La Meilleure Boulangerie de France' on the national TV channel M6, in which they won the competition of that episode!
In this video, we will see how these 'patisseries' are made. The amount of work that it takes to make all these different types of desserts is unbelievable as many different creams & puff pastries & biscuits are used.
French bakeries should be celebrated for their hard work and how delicious the desserts are for such an affordable price!

Our local bakery in a small super market makes all sorts of fancy looking pastry, but they all taste pretty blah sugary. After a prolonged trip to Europe, including France, I realized how terrific pastry can taste, especially combined with a fine coffee.
Indeed, there are also many different variations that are possible, stemming from each pastry chef's imagination.
I live about an hour away. Road trip!

Which "very dark" item are you specifically referring to?
