  • What's it like to be a retro bike collector? In this very special video I sat down with Saddleback's Rich Mardle to discuss his passion for collection 90s mountain bikes. He has a collection unlike any I have seen in me life and it was fascinating to get an insight into why these bikes mean so much to him and what life is like as a collector
Part 2 (tomorrow) will take a deep dive into his collection of absolutely stunning bikes.

    Wow, I remember that!
Thanks for bringing me back to the best time of my life.
I really remember the tech envy too.

I really enjoy your videos and meeting people that are keeping vintage mountain bikes going . I own several 90s mountain bikes myself . I have some Kleins , Adroit , Attitude , Pluse . Cannondale Super V 3000 limited . Pro Flex 857 . Over twenty bikes currently . I don't have the room to display them anymore . Great to see someone with such a nice place to display their collection . Thanks for the video

Ridden with Richard a couple of times on holiday a few years back. Great rider. Nice to see him still in bike world hopefully still riding. Steel or alloy frames, mostly US made. Times changed but bikes like that Klein or Pace were great bikes then and are still relevant now.

So interesting Dave. My MTB journey started in the late 80’s and some of those bikes really do bring back such happy memories. I always wanted a Klein and then a Pace. Never bought either, but seeing these bikes might have reawakened that yearning! I now need to lash myself with sharpened birch twigs to purge myself of these inappropriate thoughts🤣

I have a GT RTS-2 in like new condition. I'm the original owner brought it new in 96. This bike has been in storage for years. I still have the owners manual and brochure from 96. If you don't have one in your collection hit me up. I'm ready to sell.

    Thanks very much David.
    Great video, wonderful imagination.
This collector is enjoying his life. He's really having a life.
Lots of what has been said, is the same for me.
More bikes leads to a completely different way of life.
You get more out of what you've got.
You have a richer knowledge as you're living.
So, from 3 bikes to 20 bikes your life gets enriched.
I'm at 11 bikes without even trying.
I thing, life is better with some planning and purpose.
    You've exposed your viewers.
Now you know 90% of your viewers are watching for their own selfish greedy urges.
They actually don't care about the bikes you review or you.
That insight we now know about viewers is really damning about them.
We can conclude they're the people dumping all those bikes covered in rust, just last week.
They're the leeches in the bike world.
Sucking all community out of life.

Really bad format. People are here for the bikes so show them. Not 2 guys on a couch.
