About Paolo Nutini:
Paolo Nutini is a soul-influenced alternative singer-songwriter from Paisley, Scotland. Raised in a music-loving family, he grew up listening to a range of folk, opera, jazz, and his father's R&B favourites. Nutini's debut album, These Streets, released in 2006 achieved double-platinum status and sent the four singles 'Last Request', 'Jenny Don't Be Hasty', 'Rewind' and 'New Shoes' into the Top 40. His catalogue also boasts the 2009 Ivor Novello winning album 'Sunny Side Up' as well as 2014 album 'Caustic Love' which produced the hit singles 'Candy', 'Pencil Full of Lead', 'Scream (Funk My Life Up), 'Let Me Down Easy' and 'Iron Sky'.

Finally!! After 8 years. I discovered Paulo during my honeymoon night in Mexico. Iron Sky came on and I had my finger on the change channel button but as he kept building the song I couldn’t change the channel. By the end of that song I asked my wife “Who the hell IS this guy?” Such a young kid singing about such deep topics with a brass section to boot. I started following him and realized that he had just quit playing and disappeared. I’ve checked through the years, bought all of his albums, and I have seen every video he has made. So glad he finally decided to come back to us.

It's an honour to watch Paolo's evolution as an artist, I actually feel oddly protective of him (probably like a lot of people) I still remember when he first broke out onto the music scene & watching him grow, finding his own voice & making the music he wants to make when he wants to & chooses to make it is just amazing. For me, he's up there with Otis Redding & Jeff Buckley in terms of how their voices make you feel something. Love this song & can't wait for the album 🙌🏼 damn glad to have you back Paolo
I know what you mean about feeling protective. I first heard him on the radio when Last Request was released, when he was just a teenager, and have followed him ever since. Seems like a lot of the time is spent waiting for his next album, but they are definitely worth waiting for. His voice is so unique.

The first song i heard from him was Pencil Full of Head many years back. It was only a few months ago i looked up all his other songs. They were all great songs. Scream, humpty, new shoes among them. In fact what I haven't written before but what I heard in my mind right after hearing a teaser piece of Shine a Light was Sweet child of mine. And that's the image&feeling I get from the song - childish smile of my love, so innocent, lil' bit foxy, smile that shines through the muddy water of clattering minds, tension, uneasiness. Talking bout Sweet Child of mine, makes me remember Captain Fantastic and, again, the freedom of child's vulnerability and overwhelming love. Hahaha sorry I've got carried away.
