I think you're right. With reservation for the tuning and recording technique of the time, I believe they perform the piece in c-minor instead of b-minor.
Thanks for the clarification. Just curious though: How do you know this? Is it something that was often done in those days, or some procedure applied to the recording in the process of remastering the original, alternatively, some technical matter involved in the synchronisation of sound and image? Or again: some other cause? @@alexdemutskiy1815
@@leoblum0631 I play the violin so I know what notes are being played. And violinists such as Heifetz would not tune their instruments up. It's just not something that is done with a violin of that quality nor an artist of such caliber. If he tuned up, it would cut his ear like a saw. So the only remaining possibility is that the recording is pitch shifted, which is common because of inferior recording quality of that period.
You incredibly stupid, heartless, and clearly deaf person - you heard somewhere that Menuhin had technical troubles when he got older. Wel yes he did - but this is SENSATIONAL PLAYING BY MENUHIN AT THE HEIGHT OF HIS POWERS. May you realize how incredibly full of s**t you are before it’s too late.
Still the best interpretation, elegant, sober, and a perfect musical piece.
Eula Beal! and the most glorious violin. Thanks.
I return to this version of Erbarme Dich every time. The slow, passionate, rich song mingling of voice and violin have not been bettered, for me.
I think the same.
Likewise.
I love this version and 2 others, Vishnevskaya / Rostropovich (cello) and Obraztsova / Spivakov (violin )
Well said!

trop bizarre en anglais
violon magnifique et voix splendide
Certes mais plus lyrique que baroque

Ferrier is also wonderful, and a favourite singer. But it is the combination of violin and singer that makes this version so very special.
Best Erbarme Dich ever.

John 17:3 ... takes time, requires pure heart and ... lots of efforts (Proverbs 2: 1 - 5).
Divine music!
Have mercy Lord, My God, for the sake of my tears
This music yes, other music leads us in the other direction.
And to love
MENUHIN &. The NoName singer ?! What?
J.S.Bach,Erbarme Dich, (Have Mercy Lord) Eula Beal &. Yehudi Menuhin

Magic sound! Am I right that Yehudi Menuhin plays here higher than a standard score? First note is definetely not F sharp.

I think he played the first note G

Too close to WWII to sing in German?
Probably, sadly i hate it when people involve such things into music
No. English choral societies have always sung this in English way before the two wars
Do they sing Verdi in English as well? Don't think so.
Excelent violin and excelent voice, but, definetively, the opera vibrato does not get along with any barroque music, including this aria.
Est-ce possible...
Menuhin, as always after his prime. Mediocre. Very sad....
Quatsch
