I've loved these for so long and the tutorial I saw was so complicated I wouldn't try them. I will definitely make them now. Thank you. I love the quilt behind you 💗💗💗
The size if the strips was 4x14. That's a ratio of 2:7. If you multiply by 3 that's 6x21. That'll give you a star with the same proportions but 50% larger. If that's too big, you can try multiplying the 2:7 ratio by 2.5 which would be 25% larger. Etc
I learned to make these years ago with paper strips. Then I started using ribbon and learned an additional step to make the stars 3 dimensional with four points on each side that points out from the center. It's fun too. Your work is beautiful!
Just LOVE it! That star turn on point is the logo for our quilt guild here in NE Ohio so we are definitely making some of those LOL! Still riding on the high from SOQS 2022. I won't make it back for several years, but one things for sure, I WILL return!! Thanks much and Hugs from NE Ohio.
Great use of scrap fabrics, cleaver fabricgami. Thank you so much for taking time to give visual details. Ive subscribed to see what other projects you share.
I'm thinking of making this with my grand-daughter and I wish you would have finished the star all the way through to the end, the repetition makes it easier to remember all the steps. Thanks for a lovely idea.
Thank you so much for such a clear video for such an easy and pretty ornament. I do wish you had showed how to add that thread hanger. I have yet to find a video actually showing how to add any kind of a hanger!
Glad you liked the video! For the hanger just thread a needle with your thread of choice (I used a thicker decorative thread), poke the needle through the center between two of the point (it's the corner of the center square), and pull through as much thread as you like and tie in a knot. Hope that helps.
I’ve watched several of these videos. This is my favorite one, Samantha you have a natural talent for teaching! Really fun to watch. We’re planning on doing this on Christmas Day! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You are an excellent teacher! These are on my “to do” list but have been a little hesitant to try them because I have a “geometrical challenged” brain..😂 Your instructions are so clear that I am a bit relieved!
I've been trying to make these, no joke, for 3 years. I've prepared the straps and joined into the first square and clipped 12 of them but then got stuck. Listened to many tutorials no help. Thanks now I get it
How cool are these?! Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! I see myself making several of these this year. Because I will have to ship most of them I will use a little fabric glue to keep them together. Thanks again!
First let me say that you have beautiful hands and second thank you for showing me how to make these pretty star ornaments. I always buy my kids an ornament for their tree but I would rather make them one it's more sentimental to them that way so this is just perfect so again thank you so very much for the tutorial. Terri from Oregon
What a great project! I was looking for something quick and easy to make as an extra Christmas gift for some colleagues, definitely making some of these!
I don't have other measurements, if you keep the proportions similar it will work with any width strip. Just keep in mind the center part of the star will be 1/2 the width of one strip. I've seen the stars done with paper, but haven't done it myself.
is there anyway to do a similar thing that comes out like a star of david? I used to have an ornament that was a folded type star of david made out of some kind of natural material like cornhusk or something, but I can't find anything like that anywhere.
That's right. If you want say a 4" center area you'd need 8" wide strips. You'll have experiment with how long you need the strips to be. I'd double all our measurements, make one, and then adjust as necessary.
We custom make the fat packs at the shop. So sorry we sold out - we did not expect such an amazing response. We do have christmas fabrics available by the yard if you're interested you can find them here stitchinpost.com/collections/fabric/holiday . Hope you find some fabric you like!
It's the Mighty Steam iron. I adore it, gets good and hot! Here's the link stitchinpost.com/products/mighty-steam-iron-dritz?_pos=1&_sid=e51762de2&_ss=r
I've never heard of the product Samantha used either. Perhaps you have Ellen's Best Press? Check you local fabric shop. Hope you can find something that works for you.
Hi Sally. Flatter is a natural lite spray starch (it smells really good too). Anything that will help your fabric keep its shape and nice creases will work. I have also used Ellen's Best Press and it worked well too.
Sucesso p vc. A paz do "Eu". 🙏
Hang them as ornaments, use as a package topper, or string a bunch together to make a garland. Another commenter also suggested making a larger one to use a coaster. Hope that helps.
Thanks for sharing - that works too! I found I didn't like that method as much because you can sometimes see bit of the edge still and where the glue is (especially on light fabrics). So far none of mine have come loose, starching the fabric helps it hold its shape really well.
You can use any light fabric starch or stiffener, not just Flatter. If you want to make them without any spray at all you can, but your fabric won't hold the folds as well or keep the crisp points. I would recommend using glue to hold the points in, if don't use the stiffener.
I'm not sure if you can buy it locally in the UK but we do ship. It's call the Mighty Steam. Here's the link to it on our site stitchinpost.com/products/mighty-steam-iron-dritz?_pos=1&_sid=e51762de2&_ss=r
The most clear instructions for this method that I have ever seen. Thanks! Greetings from British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦.
Wow, thank you!
Great instructions. Liked your tips for keeping points sharp.
Glad the tips were helpful!
Oh my goodness!!! What a wonderful ideal! So many ideas to use these for, and use scrap fabric. Your an amazing teacher! Thank you for sharing ❤️
You are so welcome!
I thought this would be a special gift to use shirts of a loved one who passed away for the fabric strips ❤️
بسیار بسیار زیبا و خلاقانه است واقعاً تحسين برانگیز وچشم نواز و دشوار است ممنون از ویدئو زیباتون مؤفق باشید 🌿💖🌿🇮🇷
LOVE YOUR HANDS! CLEAN AND NATURAL!
Thank you. Lol - I'd rather spend my time and money on making stuff.
My grandson had a school project using recycled items to make a holiday item. We cut up one of his old shirts to make these and they were perfect.
Wonderful!
I appreciate the tip of snipping the tab and bending it back to slip the tab in the pocket. Will be doing this on my next batch of stars!!!
Glad it helped!
I've loved these for so long and the tutorial I saw was so complicated I wouldn't try them. I will definitely make them now. Thank you. I love the quilt behind you 💗💗💗
Have fun!
These are very pretty! I've got sooooo many fat quarters I'm going to give these a go!!
Great! Have fun.
In a slightly larger size, it will be a great mug rug.
I like your suggestion.👍🏾
Great idea!
Mr Domestic did it in a slightly larger size
The size if the strips was 4x14. That's a ratio of 2:7. If you multiply by 3 that's 6x21. That'll give you a star with the same proportions but 50% larger. If that's too big, you can try multiplying the 2:7 ratio by 2.5 which would be 25% larger. Etc
Such a good idea!
Same as for lanyard braiding. Way cool. Thank you.
You bet!
Hands beautiful and clean
Very cute. I've made these in the past...just needed to see it done again to refresh my memory. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Cheryl!
Ribbon....that's genius!

These are just lovely, and you make it looks so easy of course. Very clear instruction, thank you. Blessings to you from Devon, England. xxx
Thank you!
I'm thinking of making this with my grand-daughter and I wish you would have finished the star all the way through to the end, the repetition makes it easier to remember all the steps. Thanks for a lovely idea.
Glad you like the project. To finish the star simply use a needle and heavy weight thread to make a loop for hanging.
I loved It !! Very easy !!! She used 4 polegadas x 14 polegadas - Sonia from Brasil
Tell me more about the iron please. Source ? Name of? Where to buy Flatter.
Thank you so much for such a clear video for such an easy and pretty ornament. I do wish you had showed how to add that thread hanger. I have yet to find a video actually showing how to add any kind of a hanger!

Whow !!! Thanks great idea !!! They would also be great in Red White & Blue prints for 4th of July !!!
Great idea!!
I’ve watched several of these videos. This is my favorite one, Samantha you have a natural talent for teaching! Really fun to watch. We’re planning on doing this on Christmas Day! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
This would be great with colorful paper too. Good way to recycle fabric or paper.
Great idea!
I've made these before as Christmas presents. They are easy and fun to give away.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You are an excellent teacher! These are on my “to do” list but have been a little hesitant to try them because I have a “geometrical challenged” brain..😂 Your instructions are so clear that I am a bit relieved!
Wonderful!
Love these. Perfect gift for our staff at school. Now to get creative and find some fat quarter bundles since you sold out. Thank you!
Any yardage will work. Sorry we sold out so fast - we did not except such a big response!
I found the written directions. This is a great project with the kids too. Love it!
True! I made some with my teenage daughter.
I've been trying to make these, no joke, for 3 years. I've prepared the straps and joined into the first square and clipped 12 of them but then got stuck. Listened to many tutorials no help. Thanks now I get it
That makes me super happy! So glad I could help.

Origami... I have such fun ideas for this ornament!! Thank you for sharing this ❣
You are so welcome!
WOW just WOW.wonderful craft.
Thank you so much 😀
In origami, we call that tiny space between the two strips to allow the fold to be turned and lay flat, "the fudge factor".
Love those technical terms! Nice to know it's something others do as well.
Очень понравилось,обязательно сделаю .Большое спасибо.
I have been looking for an ornament for a gift for a friend, this turned out so cute, thank you for the great tutorial!
You are so welcome!

Great tutorial. Love these 🍁
Thanks, we'll try that
Wanted to say, Love these . Not these leaves ☃️
Do you have measurements for other sizes (e.g., small, medium, large)? Have you tried this using decorative paper-results? Thanks for sharing!
I don't have other measurements, if you keep the proportions similar it will work with any width strip. Just keep in mind the center part of the star will be 1/2 the width of one strip. I've seen the stars done with paper, but haven't done it myself.

Sorry, I don't know how to that. Hope you find something.
So how would you make them bigger for mug rugs? Wider/Larger pieces of fabric?
That's right. If you want say a 4" center area you'd need 8" wide strips. You'll have experiment with how long you need the strips to be. I'd double all our measurements, make one, and then adjust as necessary.

Glad you like them!
Linda. A árvore de Natal ficará mais bela. Já fiz esse ponto no macrame
How big are these stars? I used to do 3d ones with narrow paper strips. Thanks for the video.
The center square is 2"

Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful ⭐🥰😊😉
Thanks 🤗
Absolutely beautiful ❤
Thank you!
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
I assume Flatter spray is something like starch. I am trying to do Christmas on a budget so will see how my starch works.
Faltter is a type of sizing, but it does a similar thing to what starch would.
Very beautiful 💕🌹💐
Thank you so much 😊
Very clever, thank you.
Glad you like it!
What is the little iron that you use? Would love to get one. Great tutorial. Might do this one with granddaughters.
It's the Mighty Steam iron. I adore it, gets good and hot! Here's the link stitchinpost.com/products/mighty-steam-iron-dritz?_pos=1&_sid=e51762de2&_ss=r

You're welcome
Is flatter spray starch? I’m thinking of doing these with my scouts.
Yes, It's a light, natural, starch
@@Stitchinpost thank you
Moravian (or Froebel) stars. I've been making these from paper for sixty years.
I am from England what would be the equivalent in the spray ..have never come across it before !!
Perhaps you can use spray starch.🇨🇦
I've never heard of the product Samantha used either. Perhaps you have Ellen's Best Press? Check you local fabric shop. Hope you can find something that works for you.
Hi Sally. Flatter is a natural lite spray starch (it smells really good too). Anything that will help your fabric keep its shape and nice creases will work. I have also used Ellen's Best Press and it worked well too.
Put a half twist before tucking in for the three d version.
Will try it. Very pretty
Amei♥️
Muito lindos
Só acho q a artesã deveria "montar uma peça até o fim", p mostrar como faz.
E os acabamentos.
Não tem q ser arrematado c alguma costura, p não se desmontar todo (...com o vento, por exemplo)
Fica a dica.
Sucesso p vc.
A paz do "Eu".
🙏
Как мило! Креатиано. Душевно, как у бабушки на Рождество.🌲⭐
en colombia las hacemos con palma
It is just wonderful
Plz give me idea what can we use thees stars for wich prpz
Hang them as ornaments, use as a package topper, or string a bunch together to make a garland. Another commenter also suggested making a larger one to use a coaster. Hope that helps.
Do you have written directions for the stars?
WATCH THE INSTRUCTIONS & WRITE YOUR OWN
Here is our free PDF of this pattern. Enjoy! cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0420/0316/9440/files/FoldedStarOrnaments.pdf?v=1666735331
Cut points on the ends of your strips. Put glue inside before you pass the strip through. Cut tails off as the last step.
Thanks for sharing - that works too! I found I didn't like that method as much because you can sometimes see bit of the edge still and where the glue is (especially on light fabrics). So far none of mine have come loose, starching the fabric helps it hold its shape really well.
Do you absolutely have to have flatter spray? Can you make them without it?
You can use any light fabric starch or stiffener, not just Flatter. If you want to make them without any spray at all you can, but your fabric won't hold the folds as well or keep the crisp points. I would recommend using glue to hold the points in, if don't use the stiffener.
Hola! La doblar la tira cuantos centímetros dejas sin doblar?

Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow I love this
What is your iron called and can I get it in UK please
I'm not sure if you can buy it locally in the UK but we do ship. It's call the Mighty Steam. Here's the link to it on our site stitchinpost.com/products/mighty-steam-iron-dritz?_pos=1&_sid=e51762de2&_ss=r
