Clearly prepared practice flights is one thing, but what about if in real time hot scenario sprints to jets for scrambles but no time to peepee or poopoo before take off but then gotta do the 1 or do the 2 in fight? How's that work? Party in pants time?? Or is there a solution for that, bc they already have super long flight times.

Im no engineer, but wouldn't it be better for the cockpit to open the other way to have the airspeed rip the canopy off and away from you if you need to eject?

Thats how most all machine guns have been in fighter planes throughout history. When firing rounds that fast you burn through hundreds in a few seconds, and can only carry so many rounds of each type with you.

I'm not sure why they are trying to "sell" this gun to the public. But it is a 25mm gun with only 220 rounds. I hope for guys on the ground sake that it is computer controlled for accuracy. The F35 will not be flying low and slow over the battlefield like the A-10.

The addition of armament was based on the pilot's request, not the aircraft's design (emphasis on its stealth capabilities) because the US military doctrine changed and did not adhere to the dogfight era even though the F-35 aircraft had multiroll capabilities and air superiority.
The F-35 isn't intended to be a fighter. It operates in Beyond Visual Range to accomplish its goals.
F-35 as a close air support weapon makes me very uneasy. They are so expensive that you know there will never be enough built to do both air superiority and ground support missions at the same time, and when push comes to shove the Air Force will choose air superiority every time. So in times past we had different tools to do both, but now with one tool to do both I'm afraid the troops on the ground will be doing without when tough choices need to be made, and that might not always be the best choice for the big picture.
Consider that there are 3 F-35 variants for the roles of the Air Force, Marines, and Navy. The Air Force will use its F-35As to fulfill its job in a battle, much like the Navy will use its F-35C.

It can’t fire 3000 rounds per minute because it only has 182 rounds in it. Most it can fire in one minute is 182.
Thats why its called rate of fire. And why guns also have sustained rate of fire listed with them. Rate of fire is theoretical and sustained rate of fire it is capable of as long as it has ammo. Make sense?

I'm not an engineer, but having a forward or front hinged canopy doesn't quite fit into my logic, if it supposedly allows for a safer ejection. First, wouldn't the force of wind in a forward flight tend to push the canopy back down onto the pilot? Unless the aircraft is flying backward, then it makes sense, ha ha. Pilot safety just doesn't seem to be the reason the canopy is hinged like that.
Im sure they thought of that... My guess is, it has explosive bolts on the front hinge that blow it backwards in case they have to eject.
The canopy glass has explosive lines in it to blow the canopy away from the jet.
Yeah I was thinking about that, but the entire glass is probably ejected with the pilot.
The pilot seat has rocket’s attached the propel the occupant up and away from the fuselage and canopy.

Buena suerte haciendo piruetas de exhibición frente a misiles disparados por aviones que eres incapaz de detectar.

The cannon on the F-35A makes ZERO sense to me. The F-35 is NOT a dogfighter and NOT a close air support aircraft in the sense of approaching ground targets at an altitude and speed conducive to a few seconds of accurate strafing. Seems to me the Navy and Marine Corps made the correct decision to opt for more fuel rather than this useless internal gun.

Please I don't want to vomit. A 25mm with extremely limited ammo firing at the rate given is a sick joke and only proves the 35 was built for alleged air superiority w/o the slightest concern for the Air to Mud mission correctly referred to as Close Air Support. If you doubt me then do your research on how since Day 1 of the A-10 being the USAF has treated the A-10 and the CAS Mission. Before you yell at me I am not talking about the pilots but about the USAF Management, Career Advancement, and it's Institutional Mind Set.
Meh they have the Apache for air to mud support. IMO these new gen aircraft are for taking out the air defences/fortifications
There are other aircraft specifically designed for air to ground combat. The F35 CAN do air to ground but is not specifically built for it. Jack of all trades, master of none, the Swiss-army knife of aircraft.
