San Francisco sourdough bread is my favorite food. Born and raised in the Bay Area.. It's been twenty-five years since I've San Francisco Sourdough.. can't find it in Texas! Calif is like Poland 1938 nowadays.
It would be funny if every bakery in the area was started by a group of friends who all chipped in to start a mother. Then each one took a piece and started their bakery calling their mother dough different.
@@futuristicgirl14 …. Few places I’ve been has sourdough bread comparable to what a bay area bakery has. Fortunately I can get good sourdough bread from a bakery here in Idaho
@@Idahoguy10157 Monterey Bay, Ca just as good. It’s Coastal yeast. Just have someone send you starter from here. Doubt you’ll have luck w/San Franciscans. They’re not really San Franciscans. Probably all gluten-free types
@@Idahoguy10157 I’ve had both. I’m native to the area. San Francisco is overrated. San Francisco may have been the gold standard 40 years ago. Now? It’s not necessary💡

My mother claimed it was the air that caused San Francisco sourdough
It is! Similar to Parmesan Reggiano only being made in a certain region where the cheese gets specific good bacteria’s!

at 2:49 somene throws down something from behind the baker--it shows their cavalier attitude about baking. Not good. Don't horse around, bake bread.
