  • In this Spriester Sessions Extra, Robert Earl Keen takes Steve Spriester around his ranch near Medina. He also talks about how many of his songs are autobiographical, the song he'd better play live and how he writes the songs his audiences love.

First time I saw him was in corpus he didn’t play the road…. Still a great show! Saw him 5 more times. Don’t remember what he played but I do remember those nights were fun as hell!

I lived in.a bluegrass household while at school in Santa Cruz. One night I went to a gallery opening, the place shared a bathroom with Kuumbwa Jazz Center. I opened the mystery door and found Robert singing and playing. I stood in the back. After the show, I went through the magic door and the gallery party was winding down. Walked away from that gallery, glad I had gone.
In school we studied Vaqueros, Contrabandistas and Rinches: Dr Paredes. Looking good my man.
