The original version sounded like an axiety of a young guy who doesn't know how to live. This one sounds like sorrow of an adult man who has seen way too much in this world, who is tired and almost completely exhausted, but keeps moving on.
Yeah, someone who's exhausted of all the horrors in this world, someone who feels how all these problems affects and defiles souls and is desperately looking for a way to end with all of this
can we all just appreciate Deryck's ability to switch from a beautiful voice to like a really heavy rock voice? If you are reading this comment Deryck, you are amazing and I love you.
It was shit for a little bit, let's be clear - but it's super dope that he straightened out. I can only hope to do the same (not that Ive ever done anything worth releasing, yet)
@@Pepik Not sure if I can post links here but I'll try: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/inside-sum-41s-dramatic-comeback-125046/ Or you can just Google "Sum 41 2013" without quotes and scroll down to the Rolling Stone article.

Honestly my favorite acoustic album for 2020 would be from the band IMMINENCE and their "Turn The Light On: Acoustic Reimagination" album that released on January 10th, 2020. I have listened to that album SO MANY times!! Eddie Berg's expressive voice mixed with the amazing acoustic accompaniment, and deeply emotional lyrics is incredibly powerful. Anyone that comes across this, pleas check out Imminence!! "Turn The Light On" on its own is a dynamic set of 13 marvelous tracks, and the acoustic reimagination hits you in the feels even harder. I'm so glad that a close friend of mine recommended their music to me last year!!
I am Japanese! This song is the tune that I knew this sum41 for the first time! I don't know them well yet, but I love this group! Because English is not confident, it may be a little strange, but I write it hard. This song is a song that I sometimes sing in high school. Thank you!
Your English is well written. There are a few errors but I understood what you are saying. It's nice to see the global reach of the band. Hopefully you listen to more of their music, they have been around since I was in grade 6 so lots to listen to. I remember the first Japanese song I heard was Super Drive by Yosuke Sakanoue . Perfume is one of my favourite Japanese groups to listen to today. If you enjoy Sum 41 some other bands you may enjoy are Blink 182, Billy Talent, and The Offspring
Deryck is easily one of the best singers around. While pop artists rely heavily on auto tune he naturally has an amazing voice. Sum 41 deserves way more recognition.
Seeing how Deryck changed his life around with hard work for years, gives me so much hope man. Absolutely love this band. From since I was a naive happy kid, throughout many phases of pain and growing up. No doubt they will be there again when I become the man I need to be.
Love this band since I started to hear it last year. They have something no other bands have, that special feeling and I relate with Deryck so much that I feel him as a Big Brother
Melyssa St-Hilaire yesss more of that!! You could tell even Shinoda felt the vibe just by his energy playing with them. Looked like he felt Chester right there with them. Good stuff!
The distortion Deryck adds to his voice during the chorus reminded me so much of Chester Bennington.... Absolutely loving these stripped back versions of songs!
Oh for sure. Vocally hes at his best rn. And hes just getting better. It amazes me. Most artists go the other way. Ever since he sobered up hes just propelled his vocal talent
Agreed. He's got much more life experience to write about and sounds better than ever since he got sober. He could easily reach the top again if he chose to.
This guy is a WINNER in life. Came back from almost death and is better than ever, the band is doing great, his vocal are AMAZING,almost unchanged. Mad Respect
Please stay safe bro. You are one rare gem we have left. I just want to day thank you from the bottom of my heart of being there since I was a kid. Now 25 and this really hit me. Chester was and is so proud. Dont even know why I would think or say that but I feel it's needed
Probably because you grew up in the era of having great bands like Sum 41, Linkin Park, Blink 182 etc being the soundtrack to your younger years. Sum 41 were nothing to do with Linkin Park but I also associate them together
not gonna lie... drop some tears every time i listen to this masterpiece. 1:59 - 2:50 that part gives me the chills every single time. can't believe how good this is
I’ve been such a huge fan for what feels like forever, it’s so amazing to see such a positive health change. I still tell the story when I got to go up on stage and watch the whole concert from side stage when social code was opening. One of the most cherished memories I have.
i discovered this band 6-7 years ago, a very obscure times I've been through and sum 41 helped me through it my only wish is to see them live and pay tribute to all the lives that was saved by them
Sum 41 is one of those bands that they can fall off the radar a bit, and when you rediscover their music again, it’s still just as relevant as it was during the times it was made
Chills. I never thought a slowed down version of the Hell Song was something I wanted, but now, I want this for all the Sum 41 songs. Even A.N.I.C. I don't care. All of them!
what ever your feeling and we love every second of this but man we need you here and everyone else that has things they are going thru, we all need each other
THIS, is honestly one of the best songs weather its a cover or not.....that I have ever heard from Sum41........Derek.....you are the fkin master my friend!!!!

So true but I kinda miss how teen/adult voice was kinda raspy. But like you said never get tired if hearing him.
@@fubar1872008 I prefer his clean vocal

One of the most aggressive Sum 41 songs, can be the most emotional song ever.
We really get to feel how powerful all of his lyrics are through these acoustic covers.
Derycks voice really is like fine wine his singing gets better with age

The curse of dedication practice and experience
Dont mention any alcohol he was addict and he had problems with drinking
