This is wrong and it pisses me off this video exsists. Jeffries came out of retirement lost to johnson it wasn't broken then at that point when a lineal champion retires then comes back he is the man to beat period. Same with ali being gone he came back and was the champ then fraizer beat him

@@shawnprivate5322 of course it does. After the lineal champ retires, new lineage is formed after number 1 fighter in the division figts number 2. It was like that when Jeffries retired, Gene Toney retired and when Marciano retired. Of course there was only one world title back then but it became a presedence.

You could be lineal champ and not even be in possession of any belt eg Shannon Briggs,
Lineal means you lost your belts without anyone beating you but first you have to be the man .
@@vicchavez6570 You could be lineal champ and have belts, and then have your belts stripped off you for different reasons. When Briggs beat Foreman, Foreman was lineal champ and WBC champ I think after beating Moorer but had the belt stripped off him and so he was just lineal champ.
So when Briggs beat him, Briggs won no belt but won the lineal championship. That's why and how Tyson Fury is still lineal champ all these years even though he had no belts after he was stripped off the WBO, IBF and WBA belts he won from Klitscho
@CARLOS MENDOZA Actually Tyson was lineal champ, before he unified the belts, he lost it to Douglas who then lost it to Holyfield who then lost it to Bowe. The whole scattered paths started when Bowe threw the WBC belt into the bin, and was stripped off the belt leaving someone else to win it and here we are, 🤣
