I run a carpet cleaning business as well , this engines are now made in China not in Japan there’re good for about 2000 hours and then they start to have issues like running wide open and not idling at low rpms , also they leak oil . In my opinion Kohler engines last longer , I’m actually replacing my vans with ptos now to avoid having to deal with this small unreliable engines as the pto for those who don’t know what it is, the van engine runs the carpet cleaning machine .
I have a 24hp honda I got used on a john deere 420, a long story short but there's low compression on one lug and it doesn't run like it slightly did before, after replacing the carb it was better but then nothing. Does the horizontal about the same as this one. Mines the one that has the single bolt on the valve cover
Good morning, I have a Honda GX 630 engine that explodes when I accelerate it to the max and once I lower the acceleration level it no longer explodes. What could be happening to it?
I have a gx630 i have spark, gas and compression but will not start. Im starting to think it's the cam gear because its on a commercial pressure washer inside a box truck (hot environment). I've heard the PTO keyway is known for sheering off so i checked that its not....next im going to rip it apart...any advice is greatly appreciated!
What do you think the problem is with my gx 690? The machine is on an open trailer and its dying under a load. Im being told that the problem is internal. What could it possibly be for it to be internal?
John Lutz. My GX690 's govenor needs set up, or replacement. It is not activating under load. Can you please advise. Yuor videos are great help to me. Kings Co. Nova Scotia.
That's definitely weird if you have a new carb and pump, I would double check the to make sure you have the fuel pump hooked up correctly and not have the lines mixed up.
I have one of these engines it has spark, it's getting fuel, and it has 215 psi compression on each cylinder, it will not start!! Would this be why? And valves do move.... My mind is blown. It's on a cub cadet zero turn. The fuel solenoid works. Any help would be greatly appreciated
My friend has a gx690 that he does pressure washing with and when hes under a load, hes getting a popping sound or small popping sounds and it eventually it ends up dying on him...your video could be his answer
I found this video looking for oil coolers for my dual igx800 hydro jetter skid. They're in a box truck and not at the edge of the door for fresh cool air. Do you have any recommendations for the best cooler system? I'm concerned about proper flow right now so I'm not guessing what will be good lol
I just took delivery on a new wood splitter system that's powered by a gx690. It ran out of fuel, (didn't know how much this thing drank) refilled the tank, and it won't start now. It tries...almost does start, (even builds heat in the cylinders/exhaust) and gives little puffs of smoke while cranking (and "almost running" on 1/4 choke) and the plugs are carbon fouled BADLY. Suggestions? Paid $40K for this rig, and it doesn't last a week? (mfg in Canada, too) I even waited an extra 4 weeks to get the Honda engine instead of a Briggs.
Was the motor used? Cause if not it's a lemon I've used 7 different ones on the last 6 years and put 100s of hours on them all and little to no problems!
I just don't get it....why would a premier engine builder risk a reputation for reliability by using such crappy materials in critical, high-consequence applications??
@@allard_eesinge I REALLY hope my dual igx800 skid don't have stupid plastic gears. Whoever thought that was a good idea, should be booted out of the company.

Hope this video helps you out if you have this failure or hopefully preventing this failure👍🔧
can you show doing the governor replacement?
What does this service typically cost parts and labor separate line items
Are the gears in the back of the motor or in the front?
What could it be if the gx 690 is dying under a load but the problem is internal? Any clue
Thanks for the video. Next one could you show how to open ans asamble the engine. Looks like we'll be doing this in the future. Thanks

Oh and to the mechanic and video creator 😎👍🤩 perfect awesome job brother, I'm just wondering why plastics in a all metal engine 😁

Also....with the problem you fixed in your video, would you still have the same compression?
How many hours on the engine upon failure?
Are the part numbers the same for a gx630 as they are for the 690?
I believe so but would have to look at parts brakedown.

Question.......Does the GX630 engine also have the same issue?
Can't say but I haven't seen any come in with the problem tho.
Yep
will these gears make the engine leak oul from it and not to start? Trying to decide if mine is worth fixing.
Shouldn't make it leak but can cause lots of issues.
There not hard to work on at all but parts high, but that’s cheap compared to new engines

Will it start with starting fluid
Great video showing those plastic gears. Why would liquid spray 6' in the air when the dipstick was removed?
Oil pressure
You need 3 of the 91308-z6l-003 seals

Sounds like a carburetor issue or fuel problem.
@D-MAN107 thank you
Can you tell me the crankcase bolts torque spec?
Approximately 3-4 ratatats🤣
Does anyone make steel gears yet?…
Great share!
Larry
Believe it or not they use to be metal in most engines but most manufacturers have switched to composite/plastic materials now🥴
There making more money so I don’t see any change coming

Thanks for the video! I just ordered a new pressure washing trailer and getting a 690. Ever see many issues come from PW rigs like this?
Should be good as it gets much more air flow from the open rig. Mostly see this in carpet cleaning vans.
If the Governor Grear breaks
I’m assuming it will run wide open?
I got one up here in SC
Exactly same unit
Thanks
Correct
@@D-MAN107 yea I tore it down ordered the 3 parts from Tiffton GA and it’s been back up n running

What are the symptoms?
Over revving or not running at all.

I've seen some people mount fans inside the van to help move air

Parts breakdown please ??
Who did you get parts from??
We are a honda dealer.
So these engines aren't interference motors?
Is it possible to replace them plastic gears with steal?
Unfortunately no they only offer the plastic gears currently.
Sure you could. Ask a machine shop that does gears.
Why only 10-30 oil? Hot environments throw some 20 50 in it.
At the rate of failure we will be installing heli coils pretty soon, on /off every 6 months
I had same engine replaced cam gear twice and it's not the oil service ,it's the cheap plastic gear
Metal would be nice no doubt.
How much did the repair cost?
All plastic parts AllWAYS need to be replaced asap, like every year
why not replace it with iron gear in a custom way
Vans need a big cooling fan in them to move air
Seems to be the only fix
I just don't get it....why would a premier engine builder risk a reputation for reliability by using such crappy materials in critical, high-consequence applications??
The issue is Honda using cheap plastic instead of metal and then having the gall to charge a premium.
Just replace the plastic gears every time and you’ll be ahead of next break down
I have a gx690 and it dies under a load only
Sounds like dirty clogged carburetor
