First time I saw McMurtry live, he walked onstage and played one chord, and I said to my date "Oh. The grownups are here now." Been loving his music ever since.
You can never get enough James McMurtry. Such great lines, “We met up in Brooklyn before it went hipster, you carried your keys in your fist”. James, you remember the ‘old’ Brooklyn.
Why JAMES ain't mainstream is beyond me....he & RWH put out the best damned music these days...of course they both require intellect, thought & feelings to understand. Outta Da Park set James, hat-tip!
Ripples from the deep- gritty, genuine, all too easy to relate to. Dusty tombstone boots. I can hear the sound of the wind, dying in the smokestacks. Should it take a tornado, may be so, that sound is the first quiet wind. As ever, as now, nature takes us back to nature. Why does human nature have to insert so many a Minotaur into the mazes? I guess that feeling of challenge makes us take it to the apex. Truth is I have survived too many car wrecks, haha... good day y'all. ~ RaVen ~

Wonderful wordsmith and storyteller.
James McMurtry is one of my favorite American songwriters.

James McMurtry is awesome - I rank him top of the list of musicians and storytellers. Lucky for those that get to see him in concert.
He paints an absolute true to the core painting. What a story teller and stellar guitarist. 👍🏼👍🏼
What an amazing songwriter and performer.
I could listen to this guy all day long (and sometimes I do! 😁).
James firing on all cylinders, of course.
Before I die, I hope I can write one song that's as good as most of Mr. McMurtry's songs.
Been a fan since 89...one of the best legendary songwriters
James is magic
I love this guy and his music
I so relate to his lyrics
James McMurtry good for the soul!!
I was just playing his music while four wheelin' all over the Eastern Sierra and Great Western Basin. Excellent soundtrack.
My favorite singer/ songwriter along with the late great Leon Russell!

Between the grandparents graves and the grandchildren’s toys……

Absolute master class on songwriting.
I can easily compare james to paul simon...especially in their earlier years
Fantastic recording ... thank you, WDVX! 👏👏👏

Outta Da Park set James, hat-tip!
And I wonder why he’s not big time like the other pop country rock robot stars
Huge talent unrecognized by the corporate goons
an american treasure. pick that guitar up off the stand, play it like a full grown man
Yep
Come back to Montana and hide out here. Only -17 with wind tonight James.
Damn he's hot.
Just leave me to my mischievous ways

Who is the person singing harmonies on Canola Fields?
Looks like BettySoo to me

He’s my favorite I wish you wouldn’t of went so hard on nine bags. Maybe he could apologize to us now
😁
my guitar didn't come with those chords.
What tuning is he using here?
Look up Dave draper on the tubes. Lots of good info..including the 'Mctunings'. His right hand is unexplainable.
I thought I might try to learn me a song of his. 12 string with an open tuning. That is not fair.
