My vision is to combine the studio recording aspect of my artistry with my aspirations as a marching band and symphonic band composer/arranger. I want to become the type of artist where band kids can listen to my songs on the way to school and then play those same songs as sheet music when they get to band class. I also want to work with artists and bands to arrange their live brass when they go on tour
That's a great vision, I remember when I started teaching I used to teach songs to kids who just started playing and I still remember Basket Case by Greenday and Teen Spirit blasting through the school corridors in the after school club! Great days!
My vision is to combine my music & athletic ability to become a sponsored 800m athlete who can promote kit & content online whilst also promoting my music @ the same time. That way I'm attracting a young audience to not only improve their lives positively, but also gain a larger fanbase, resulting in more coverage from the media (from my unique position) which'll increase the ability to tour inter/nationally.
Many good points, thank you! 😊 One thing I really need to do this year is to get a grip on my social media. 😅 I never really know what to post, and it’s like I am thinking that I’m not interesting enough. But I think it has to do with that I am scared to “put myself out there” really. But I am working on it! Thank you again for an awesome video!
Hi Elin, You have everything you need to build an audience who will appreciate and look after you. Your new single 'My Only wish' is such a well constructed and powerful piece of music. With a small amount of effort on your socials you could capture the imagination of so many people. Your music is perfect for syncs as well as playlists. Don't let your brain overthink and tell you people won't care because if you take pride in your socials the way you have with your music, they will. Let's make 2024 a huge year! I'm here to help 🙂🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my music, it really means a lot! 😊 And thank you for the feedback, I will definitely take your words with me. I am looking through more of your videos now, and I’m learning a lot!
This year I'm releasing my first EP and only focusing on the quality of all of the things that I'll do after the release from the theme to the colors, my style and the quality of short and form content and that's it. I'm hoping to go on a short tour on my country on two or three cities and that's it. I don't care about numbers anymore, I just want to leave something (other than great music) that I'll be proud of and people are gonna enjoy as well.
I love this attitude, make something you are proud of! Also my biggest video of the year is dropping today. 'How to release a single in 2024'. It's a big one, hope it helps 🙂🙂
I had a special anniversary yesterday (not music related) but I asked myself if last year I could have imagined that I'd be where I am today. The answer is "no way in hell!". So in 2024 I want to be more confident in myself as an individual music creator. I want to have people know who I am and want to come to a gig just because it is me and that they see me on a personable level. I want to easily fill 100 seats (currently able to do 30 easily) and maybe 1000. Hopefully I can maintain a steady increase of 200-300%.
The vision for my career is to just have a career 😆 Artistically, my vision is take the kind of lofi/chill-beat aesthetic I currently make and apply it to a more thought out and through composed style of music. I'm a big prog-rock fan so, something like progressive lofi chill
What adds to this point of it not being a jackpot and momentum is long term is I have mates in bands who hit 'the jackpot'. Tours outside the UK, download, bloodstock, reviews in the top mags. But because they didn't pay attention to details and didn't reinvest in their musical ambitions, they come across like that guy down the pub who claims he would have played for England but broke his leg, and try desperately to form new bands but struggle to regain what they once had
I found that, most of the time, I don't do anything wrong. but don't even do some things. That in itself is not the problem. The fact is that you have to think about it in your head: How do I implement this, how do I carry it out? Many people, especially some or all musicians and other people, know what issues they often struggle with. which are often discussed. the video is very informative. the inner conflict remains constant. Thanks for the video!
I hava five songs to release this year, im working on them. But I do not have a lot of followers on all my social media platforms. In 2022, i decided to be a BGV for a few artists to learn and network because i didn't know shit about music, all I had were my songs and i knew they were not enough . Fast forward to 2023, i did a few covers and gained a few followers, but they are less than a hundred on all my social media pages. Now I want to release original songs this year, i an worried about the number of followers i have and I have been given the idea to do lots of cover songs every week until I release my first single in April. Im torn between going to the studio and doing that or doing live version of the covers where I wouldn't need to go to the studio and do all that production stuff again. Which do you think will work? Because the cash I have , I want to invest in my original songs and not pay for cover song productions again. Just want to know what you think. Sorry for the long read.

the superman/clark kent point is sooooo true, it's something i spoke to you about a short while ago, I noticed all the local metal bands looked "generic" for lack of better wording, so I decided to grow my hair out a bit died it and my beard bright blue, started wearing my blood splattered white shirt instead of generic black band shirt and told the guys in the band not to wear any black/band shirts... got speaking to someone after the first show testing it, she was like "oh you were that 'clown' band, i really enjoyed it" so i a straight up asked her what she thought of one of the other bands, her response was just "which one were they?" the clown part was unexpected, but she remembered us because we didnt look like everyone else... I mean its hard to maintain the blue but i'll take standing out over looking like everyone else any day
I love that in making yourself more remarkable you have also brought more emotion to the consumption as they not only recognise you but they enjoyed it more. 1st class, well done!! 🙂🙂

Reinvesting? Er, well, for my TEOSTO (That's "The Finnish BMI/ASCAP") one year I bought myself a motorcycle. Perhaps not reinvesting, but fun! And, please remember: "Fun is the one thing that money can't buy". But that time it did! And making music, especially writing and playing it, is something I find fun.
the songs i’ve spent the most money on being PR, marketing, high end production and mix engineers, have performed the worst on spotify, The two songs I put the least effort into releasing regarding content, PR, marketing, strategy, have performed the best, one on 100k and one at 2million Other songs I have spent over $15k on working with the best in the business have completely flopped.
Damien,...I love your views. Mindset though its....well.....fragile. Ive seen so many great musicians coming in to this game with the mindset of "Im good" (And some of them are very good) and I will make it in this business. They often turn into bitter twisted resentful and sometimes damaged people. Its sad. They expected much and got nothing. Id say that I fell into this a little myself too. By 30 I was burnt out and done with it. Then, when I came back to this a few years later - the internet had come along ....Myspace....Facebook...and suddenly I didnt need a record contract. Now I am less consumed with "being the best" the music has got better. Im less stressed. I literally dont care very much at all about any of it. I just want to make the best music and have fun. Ironically with this mindset, the music is more popular and Im getting people downloading from Bandcamp and buying CDs. Im enjoying this mindset - and the results! PS> my friend was Alanis's tour manager for the first album. You are well lucky to have played with her!
On the point of the vision. I think there's a fine line between fantasy in reality. My reality is that I will hopefully end up being able to long term, make a liveable career out of it. The dream is to play the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. Is it still important to keep that fantasy intact and aim higher or settle for a liveable income? Then again I am only 16, so everything can change. Wanted your thoughts, love the content!

My vision is to create a new style of music (which I have accomplished after 20 years of study, practice and experience) to uplift and unite people. The challenge is, my music is so unique I can’t get it into any playlists. Playlist curators say they think it is good but they just don’t know what playlist it fits in. So, I’ve totally given up on that route and focusing mainly on live-streaming on TH-cam, which seems to reach people all over the world and I can slowly grow my community. The greatest compliment I receive is that my music is very original and doesn’t sound like anything else. I guess it’s a blessing and a curse lol. Any suggestions??
Agreed, a blessing and a curse but you can use it to your advantage by finding the quirky people and places who like the interesting and different. Seek them out 🙂🙂
Wouldn't it make more sense to put your energy into something other than Spotify? There is more competition there than anywhere. And even if you get a million streams, what would that be, a couple hundred bucks? I would rather do something that doesn't have that insane competition.
What I admire most about you Kevin is you are tenacious, relentless and incredible consistent. We just need to keep working on ideas that hit home and then things will feel easier 🙂🙂
man, I love your content and you are incredibly knowledgeable but I was wondering if you could go more broad with your tips. For example I see that you focus a lot on bands or singers but myself I'm a dj and producer. It would be cool if you could try to bring these tips and knowledge to more types of musicians. Cheers!
I guess you should apply most of the ideas too in yours. In the way you know it’s work for you. But as a producer is same way. A lots of producers are making it big now through content creation on TikTok and stuffs like that. Drop a beat are someone to sing 🎤. Just keep creating good content surrounding ur lines
Personally I would need to think about whether I need a new project. If your music fails to get heard through a band members lack of work, it might be their fault but it's still your career and time wasted. Maybe time for an ultimatum and a hard discussion of whether people want this or not. Hope that helps

"2070" check it out, thanks!

Great advice! Regarding the goals for 2024: last year, the goal was to get from 2K monthly listeners on Spotify to 100K doing collaborations. I worked with over 200 different artists and producers and sang in 2 to 6 songs a day without fail. I at some point touched 350K in August. :) I am very bad at social media, however, and this IS slowing me down and holding me back from explosive growth! The goal now is to find people on social media to work with, I don't like editing, but I have a camera and the internet to find editors. I placed an ad and got massive amounts of mails with people who want to work with me to edit who loved my music! I'm now working with one person who really stood out. I am ALWAYS looking for new people to do projects with, and it's a never ending motivation and inspiration to do so! When the socials are getting along nicely, and I have implemented your strategies, it's time to re-activate the Patreon. :) Last year, I released a song on all platforms every week without fail. I focused on building catalog to use in my content as well, in multiple different styles. I will continue to do so this year, just with the addition of professional social media content added to it as well. Let's go 2024! Good luck everyone! I'm always up for collabs so if you're insanely motivated as well, always feel free to contact me to do stuff together! Love from Belgium :)
Hi Elvya, Firstly let me say Wow, that is incredible. To go from 2k to 350k in 8 months and even now sitting on 115k monthly listeners. You are an inspiration to all creatives and artists worldwide releasing music! Well done! 🙂🙂

Really appreciate this, thank you. Next week is the biggest video of the year, how to release a single in 2024 😊😊
Love the time stamps Damo!!! really useful!!! ( Content great, as usual!!)
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. The big 2024 single release plan video is coming up next week so stay tuned, I have been working on it all week and it's going to be a big one! 🙂🙂
Thanks for the video Damian I found a way to blow up any artist that’s how I did with this channel and for more artist
I love this idea, there will be so many people that will buy into you as the hero and your passions as well as your music. Love it! 🙂🙂
Thanks Damian @@DamianKeyes
Many good points, thank you! 😊 One thing I really need to do this year is to get a grip on my social media. 😅 I never really know what to post, and it’s like I am thinking that I’m not interesting enough. But I think it has to do with that I am scared to “put myself out there” really. But I am working on it! Thank you again for an awesome video!
Hi Elin,
You have everything you need to build an audience who will appreciate and look after you.
Happy anniversary for last week!
My vision is to make as many as i can people happy through my music.
The vision for my career is to just have a career 😆 Artistically, my vision is take the kind of lofi/chill-beat aesthetic I currently make and apply it to a more thought out and through composed style of music. I'm a big prog-rock fan so, something like progressive lofi chill
Thanks you for this!
thanks so much Kalusian. Love the groove on your track 'Fill me' on your TH-cam channel. Well done!
@@DamianKeyes Thanks. I’d really need some strategy to hit 100k on that? Maybe if it’s okay, I can PM you
What adds to this point of it not being a jackpot and momentum is long term is I have mates in bands who hit 'the jackpot'.
Great point, It's amazing how many people don't reinvest or keep up with the momentum and it all falls apart. Lets make 2024 a big year! 🙂🙂
Thanks Daniel, very true.
My biggest video of the year is dropping today. 'How to release a single in 2024'. It's a big one, hope it helps 🙂🙂
Thx
Great value here! Thank you for a great video!!
Thanks Ben, Really appreciate this 🙂🙂
@@DamianKeyesyou’re killing it and inspiring me to take action. I started with covers and kinda dropped off but your content is helping me in motivation and “mindset” always excited when a new video of yours pops up on my feed! Thank you again! ❤
the superman/clark kent point is sooooo true, it's something i spoke to you about a short while ago, I noticed all the local metal bands looked "generic" for lack of better wording, so I decided to grow my hair out a bit died it and my beard bright blue, started wearing my blood splattered white shirt instead of generic black band shirt and told the guys in the band not to wear any black/band shirts... got speaking to someone after the first show testing it, she was like "oh you were that 'clown' band, i really enjoyed it" so i a straight up asked her what she thought of one of the other bands, her response was just "which one were they?" the clown part was unexpected, but she remembered us because we didnt look like everyone else... I mean its hard to maintain the blue but i'll take standing out over looking like everyone else any day
I love that in making yourself more remarkable you have also brought more emotion to the consumption as they not only recognise you but they enjoyed it more. 1st class, well done!! 🙂🙂
@@DamianKeyes got to thank you for it dude, our conversation about it really made me push with it, a few more things i want to add (getting my septum piercing back etc) but it totally made me want to push the image to stand out in the scene a bit more. lots more work to do though
Really appreciate that, thank you so much. Lets make 2024 a big one!! I'm so here for it! 🙂🙂
@@DamianKeyes hell yeah! pumped for this year! pushing harder than i ever had (100+ shorts already filmed ready to go and 3 tracks ready to go live)
My vision is to play the best venues that some never get to do! Stadium shows! Memories that last forever! I just want respect! As a musician! For being the lead singer of Red Light Vendetta! I want the band to be known! As well as blink 182 or red hot chilli peppers
Great video, thank you :)
Love that you bought a motorbike, I hope you got loads of pleasure out of that bike. It was well deserved! 😊😊
the songs i’ve spent the most money on being PR, marketing, high end production and mix engineers, have performed the worst on spotify,
The two songs I put the least effort into releasing regarding content, PR, marketing, strategy, have performed the best, one on 100k and one at 2million
Other songs I have spent over $15k on working with the best in the business have completely flopped.
It really shows how important the song is and how the audience reacts to it. Thanks for sharing
Hi Damian, do u think 1k is enough as promotion? Where would you put it? All on Spotify?
Great advice Damian appreciate it
On the point of the vision.
I've 5 upcoming songs & Also I've pitched more than 35 songs to editorial Playlist consideration but they've not accepted any of them yet 😔😔😔 everyone have told us that consistently releasing is key. So where is the key??? 24 months passed for me now & even they didn't accept any of My songs yet.
Damien, I love your content and your tips have helped our band reach new levels in a really short amount of time. While I get the Dubai analogy, they are literally using slaves as a workforce and build the most pointless vanity projects ever
I going to release Reverend Nathon Volume 2, and in three months I start my residency at Texas Music Cafe in Waco, Texas so I want to do regional touring to support them both. I'm recording a cover song with AJ Mac from Thunderosa and I want to coheadline some shows with Thunderosa so I can play in both bands and get more exposure and a possible European tour. Start recording new Texas Outlaw Blues music.
Love it, Texas Outlaw Blues sounds like music I need to hear! That's right up my street! 🙂🙂
Give it a listen and if you personally reply "I dig it" I'll enroll in your school. I've been following your advice for years but never committed to investing in your program. I love what you do. @@DamianKeyes
I am gonna release atleast three original singles and make brilliant content around those for SM handles. Very well articulated, Damian!
Love it, well my biggest video of the year is dropping today. 'How to release a single in 2024'. It's a big one, hope it helps 🙂🙂
wanna release 6 songs once every two months and gig as often as possible because last year was slow
Clark Kent exists to allow Superman to do his thang! Nice one Damo 👍🏾
Damn straight!! 🙂🙂
My vision is to create a new style of music (which I have accomplished after 20 years of study, practice and experience) to uplift
and unite people.
Seek them out 🙂🙂
Had a listen to your stuff, try applying to Medicine Festival in the UK, you’d find an audience there
@@tomaszedwards7616 thanks man I’ll definitely check it out 🙏🏼
Wouldn't it make more sense to put your energy into something other than Spotify? There is more competition there than anywhere. And even if you get a million streams, what would that be, a couple hundred bucks? I would rather do something that doesn't have that insane competition.
My vision is selling out arenas 🚀🌙
Love that!
Numbers 4 and 5 have been/ continue to be the struggle for me. I'm still figuring out how to move differently than I did last year
What I admire most about you Kevin is you are tenacious, relentless and incredible consistent. We just need to keep working on ideas that hit home and then things will feel easier 🙂🙂
@DamianKeyes Thanks, I'll keep on tinkering lol:)
First comment let's goooo excited
Appreciate your speed and comment, thank you Harrison! 😊😊
Yes we all Sultans of Swing!
Banging tune!
man, I love your content and you are incredibly knowledgeable but I was wondering if you could go more broad with your tips.
Is kinda hard I know but keep trying them. Run little promotions online too
Sometimes recreate a very known old beat of a very popular singer post it with the songs. People will sing to it.
My band is so lazy and I have no control over the social media. The dude who does never posts anything
Go solo!
Personally I would need to think about whether I need a new project. If your music fails to get heard through a band members lack of work, it might be their fault but it's still your career and time wasted.
Maybe time for an ultimatum and a hard discussion of whether people want this or not.
Hope that helps
Gain control!
I'm with damon. That's what I did. The bands I've been in never got anything that damon advices to do.
Thank you for your advice I wilk workbon myself
Appreciate you! If it helps my biggest video of the year is dropping today. 'How to release a single in 2024'. It's a big one, hope it helps 🙂🙂
my vision is to create one of the best dance songs of the summer then collaborate with some cool creators and be part of the shifting culture

Whatsup w the Dubai praising😭😭😂

Dubai might not be for everyone but hopefully it was a more interesting way of making some points than just listing them. #sorryifitoffendedyou
Has anybody ever told you that you sound like Richard Hammond. Haha good video too, useful tips.
I have heard that one, the terrifying thing is I drive like him too! 😂
We seriously need to build a church for Damian, who is with me!? 🖐
I really appreciate that comment thank you so much 🙂❤

Selling out all the 50 largest Stadiums all around the world

You make plans, you follow them, you stay consistent, and then Ice Spice drops song about 💩 and 💨 and it goes viral 💀
No hate, just saying where all the attention goes nowadays…
8:05 my vision is to create a body of work that is timeless, that could have been from any decade (past or future?). This album is titled "2070" and it's a gift for my children when they are grown (and I'm old ... or gone). My vision is to have art in the world that is a part of the classic repertoire of great music and songwriting. I did my very best with this album, and will do more in the coming decade ... "2070" check it out, thanks!
Love the concept and love that your kids will look back at something amazing you created. People underestimate how important creating music is to our well being and think too much on just numbers. I love how much purpose this idea has! 🙂🙂
Thank you @@DamianKeyes - keep up the good videos, brother!

Hi Elvya,
Firstly let me say Wow, that is incredible. To go from 2k to 350k in 8 months and even now sitting on 115k monthly listeners. I hope you realise how incredible this is as an achievement especially as an artist without major backing and without a socials media strategy.
I'm super proud of you for achieving this. You are an inspiration to all creatives and artists worldwide releasing music! Well done! 🙂🙂
I have polo like that,
Yeah one little difference is about resources behind Dubai sheik and average musician 😏
True but the mindset is more important, he found wealth through oil and then built something breathtaking.
I think there are a lot of similarities to having talent, it means you are a creator and a maker, your songs, your message, your talent are assets that you can trade in for attention and money, it’s what you do with the attention and money to continue growing that requires the mindset 😊
Key takeaways: Wear underpants on the outside.
I wish everyone wore underpants on the outside!
For the record, I only watched 5 seconds of this video but I find it ironic that a former BASS player mixes the sound on his video with too much high end and not enough low end....Just sayin'
Need MORE BASS
Good feedback, its probably my ears have lost so much frequencies lol
I will feed it back to Jack who edits them and tell him.. MORE BASS!!! 🙂😂
When you mentioned Dubai as an example i thought "we're going to need thousands of slaves from the Philippines and shitloads of laundered money" 😅
Dubai will be under water in 20 years. It's a ridiculous place built by poor people living in slums behind. With you on the music stuff tho.

How to 10x your music in 2024 = Dubai
