    Yass, been vegan 7 years & I’ve never been B12 deficient because nutritional yeast is so easy to throw in recipes. Vitamin D I’ve always had to supplement even before being vegan, and I always wondered about omegas. Thanks for the helpful info! It’s so important to get vitamin levels checked yearly but so hard to get doctors to approve these tests for some reason!

      That's awesome you've been so on top of the B12 and vitamin D! I'm glad we could provide some helpful information! 😄

      FWIW, I like the Ovega-3 brand (US). 135mg EP + 270 mg DHA. 1 pill per serving. Vegan. Some of the other brands will require two pill so it seems like you're getting more, but it's half what you get with others. Pricing is confusing in this regard (as with many supplements).

    It's so wild. I've been omnivore all my life and I suffer from low vitamin D, iron, and who knows how much else. It's very nice to be able to control my own supplements. So if I'm having trouble getting these from animal foods then I'll be OK being a vegan since I'll still be supplementing.

    Could you please recommend a good quality and decently priced DHA/EPA supplement from algae? Thank you so much.

    Are there any plans to do a supplement review similar to protein smoothies? Also, could you show the brands that you use or vouch for? Thanks again, it is a joy to have found this channel

    Meat-eaters: sharp front teeth for tearing, no flat molar teeth for grinding
    Herbivores: no sharp front teeth, flat rear molars for grinding
    Humans: no sharp front teeth, flat rear molars for grinding
    Meat-eaters: intestinal tract is only three times their body length so rapidly decaying meat can pass through quickly
    Herbivores: intestinal tract 10-12 times their body length
    Humans: intestinal tract 10-12 times their body length
    Meat-eaters: strong hydrochloric acid in stomach to digest meat
    Herbivores: stomach acid that is 20 times weaker than that of a meat-eater
    Humans: stomach acid that is 20 times weaker than that of a meat-eater
    Meat-eaters: salivary glands in mouth not developed to pre-digest grains and fruits
    Herbivores: well-developed salivary glands necessary to predigest grains and fruits

      Don’t know where you studied A&P (certainly not at my Medical School) but the human intestinal tract is about 3 to 4 times the length of the body, and the only animals that have more acidic stomach acid than us are carrion eaters. Homo Sapiens has more acidic stomach acid than carnivores, in particular felines and canines. I couldn’t care less what other people eat, but it is kind of sad to see this content creator supporting your misconceptions.

    Is it good to take multivitamins to ensure you are covering all needs?

    • @TheVeganGym
      @TheVeganGym  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A multivitamin is a bit like insurance - while you'll get all the micronutrients you need from a well-rounded plant-based diet, insurance never hurts!

    • @randombartz8163
      @randombartz8163 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would also add that many multivitamins already contain Vitamin D, B12, Iron, Selenium and Iodine for very cheap, so they are also very practical alongside being a nice insurance if you decide to go down the supplementation route instead of using fortified foods. I also take it at least a few hours apart from my calcium supplements since calcium can interfere with iron absorption.

    Does wearing sunscreen affect the intake of Vit D / the recommended sun exposure?

    • @TheVeganGym
      @TheVeganGym  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question! Yes, wearing sunscreen can reduce your skin's ability to produce vitamin D from sunlight, as it blocks UVB rays involved in the vitamin D synthesis process.

    Do you take creatine. I have been but I think I'm going to back off because it may be affecting bowel movements due to dehydration.

    • @TheVeganGym
      @TheVeganGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't regularly taken creatine for many years, but I actually just started taking it daily again 2 weeks ago. It is a great supplement. As long as you drink adequate water, you should be totally fine 🙂

    Do you think that vegans need EAAs because it is a convenient way to get all the essential amino acids right

    Why not be a vegitarian and make sure you source things like eggs and dairy from pasture raised animals to support good farmers? Why band wagon on veganism?

    • @marvin996
      @marvin996 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Dairy is always cruel. Eggs can be okay in my opinion, but only when they're from backyard hens, but that wouldn't be a reliable source of those nutrients and you'd still need to supplement, so you might as well not have any eggs at all.
