  • @sarahmatthews5878
    @sarahmatthews5878 3 ปีที่แล้ว +219

    I hated what Sarah did to Tamlin. People paint him as someone who coward away from Amarantha to save himself, but he'd lost most of his powers and lived with a heart of stone for 50 years, lived with his face masked at all hours of the day for 50 years- talk about dehumanizing. He lost his friends over the wall for 50 years, and tamlin is the one who killed Amarantha! Not Rhysand-even though he claimed he knew he loved Feyre in the moment she tossed that bone at Amarantha's feet. Feyre didn't kill Amarantha, Rhysand didn't. Tamlin killed that ugly bitch. I won't justify his actions of locking Feyre up- that was wrong. But if we dialed back the scope and saw it all from his pov- the level of his depression and PTSD. Rhysand puts on an ugly evil mask and behaves so devilishly before everyone!!!!!! Not knowing Rhysand beyond the ugliness he shows the world, why wouldn't Tamlin be overly protective over a woman he loved so much, who he believed loved him, and was manipulated to go to his worst enemies home for 2 weeks out of every month, not knowing what he makes her do for him! Rhysand drugged Feyre and made her dance publically for him and the crowd. And really for NO GOOD REASON. Forcing his tongue down her throat wasn't a grand idea either. There were other ways of directing Tamlin's anger toward Amarantha- taking Feyre was it!!!! Also he sought out Feyre. Went looking for her, and Feyre asked Lucien "why didn't he come for me?" Maybe for the same reason Mor took you from the house and Rhys didn't. Rhys sand it would have broken law if he took her. I'm guessing Tamlin knew the law as well. Also, Rhys said he's tear the world apart looking for her..... Tamlin went looking for her and didn't tear the world apart. He let her go though it broke him. I'm sorry, but I would have loved it had Tamlin andf Feyre learned to love each other and grow and conquer their fears and The old vile inside battle between the Spring Court and Night Court could come together and fight Hybern together. Rhys could see his own power being used against him during meetings- Feyre could have been built up to be so much stronger than she was shown in the actual book. Gyrating as the High Lords play thing in front of a congregation was absolutely disgusting and sexualzing and demoralizing. Sometimes I think about all the destruction Tamlin has gone through, and what Feyre has put him through, and Rhys rubbing Tamlins self-acknowledged mistakes in his face is disturbing and childish. Tamlin locked Feyre in a cage, and had her sisters turned to Fae. Rhys TWISTED Feyre's broken bone and had Clare Baker killed. Feyre has her sisters. Clares parents don't have their daughter!!!!!!

    • @selenite7751
      @selenite7751 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      YES TO THIS. Everyone seems to forget that Tamlin (and Lucien) only knew Rhys as being wicked--because that's the mask Rhys wore for hundreds of years. Then being Amarantha's whre, no high fae liked or trusted Rhys! Obviously Tamlin is going to freak out that Feyre is taken by Rhys--ESPECIALLY because Feyre has all the High Lord's powers and Tamlin knows this and is trying to keep it secret from the other High Lords to protect Feyre. Now THE most powerful High Lord has her, to do who knows what with that power. And that note from Feyre sent saying something like, "leave me be this is my choice" sounds like any abducted persons note. We need a Tamlin's POV from Under the Mountain, and what was happening to him that he couldn't help Feyre. I think Maas assassinated Tamlin's character, made him turn a 180 from the first book, and decided she liked the dark prince love interest more than Tamlin. I'd rather see Lucien and Tamlin friends again and Tamlin rebuilding his court.

    Headcannon Rhys manipulated Feyre's mind - he's the one who teaches her all these demati or whatever the fuck things - especially since she literally constantly directly compares him and Tamlin but goes beyond and above to explain why he's different and what he does is OK. That's why she's experiencing earthquake orgasms and shit😭😂
    That's also why Nesta doesn't fuck with him, she's immune to all that glamour shit, anyways Nesta best character

      i definitely agree with nesta being the best character. she's a true icon and we have to stan.
      as for rhys manipulating feyre's mind, he does talk about how he reached into her mind and broke it right before she left tamlin's castle the first time i believe. it was part of the presex chapter, so like, it's all blury to me. i don't think that he manipulated her in the long run though, but i do think that him continuously putting her in situations that he benefited from without the full context and acting as though they were for her benefit was a form of manipulation that didn't really require him to reach into feyre's mind

    • @itsmonteprice
      @itsmonteprice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      i think it ultimately boiled down to this series, or this arc of the series, being told strictly from feyre's perspective. it's such and odd way to choose to tell this story and believing that feyre see's rhys' actions as good when they are comparable is so weird to me. it might be a byproduct of this originally being an adult novel marketed to a younger demographic, but i do think there's a lot to unpack with a court of mist and fury that doesn't bc so much of the book is feyre wanting to rub rhys' wings and so that becomes the discussion. or the discussion becomes framed around the idea of the reader just accepting rhy's explanation of events, even when they don't line up with what we've read or they only exist to forward this narrative of him being the good prong of the love triangle.

    Here's a theory/head cannon that could've made the whole plot bearable: Make Feyra an unreliable narrator.
    Rhysand mind-controlled her down under the mountain (remember the whole naked dancing/groping scene?) and had been using her as his eyes and wars to spy on Tamlin. Tam can still be controlling but now we question how much is real and how much was Rhysand assuming control.

I like her sister Nesta as she is the smarter and even stronger sister. Feyre is stupid. And the possessiveness of Tamlin was so out of character for some reason. I totally get they would eventually break up for other reasons too though. The way Rhysand manipulated everyone into giving him a part of their powers in ACOWAR, but he got fooled by Elain to make her look more human for Greyson and because she hated she became fae, never makes me not laugh.💀
    And about the mates subject, Rhysand said mates are rare, which makes me think no one knows much about this subject. What if Feyre and Tamlin were actual mates and then something happened(through something i mean Rhysand shoving his devilish wing tip between them)? Rhysand got full control over her that even her words and thoughts sound like they're coming from him.

  • @moniicaaah
    @moniicaaah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    sorry to appear 5 months later but i just finished de trilogy and ended up full of questions... although in your video you said the bonding mate doesn't make sense, I desagree cause even though feyre was a human and rhys was "féerico" (in portuguese because I don't know the word in english, sorry) the object of being mates was beyond the worlds I guess.. and he doesn't love her at first, neither did she.. but they had that connection that made him see her on her dreams or something and they met and he gets impressed by her and it all turned into love, i guess that point is OKAY. BUT WHY DID SARAH TRIED SO HARD TO MESS WITH TAMLIN? I mean, it's not like i care for him, but that was so unfair to his character... i bet he tried to give feyre time to figure out her feelings on the same time he was full of bagage to deal with too (the same way that rhys' court did to nestha on acosf)... supposed it wasn't real love but some kind of exciment for the new world, but then she could just admmit it instead of treating him that bad (and then tamlin gave away her sisters and it all went off but before it I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTANDDDDDD). and tamlin ended up ALL ALONE WITH HIS COURT RUINED WITH NO ONE BY HIS SIDE, man... it doesn't fit. ALSO, tamlin wasn't powerful as rhys, what could've happened if rhys couldn't make a power bubble to put feyre into it? ops, i extended myself. loved the video. thank you ♥

    A. i love this beat you have on. B. we NEED a review of ACOWAR plz and thank you. I actually might red Throne of Glass now. Crescent City apparently doesnt have SMUT and I trust u when u say its better than ACOTAR.

    • @itsmonteprice
      @itsmonteprice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      that acowar will definitely be coming in 2021. having finished the acotar books i feel like there is a similar amount of smut in crescent city. i was led to believe sjm be having characters fuck every three seconds. maybe acowar and frost and starlight were horny, but cresent city is v acomaf in the way that the smut pops in at the end as a little treat... but yes, thorne of glass is the superior series if you want cohesive character arcs and a plot and sex on the beach.

    A lot of people are crying about Tamlin, but he was boring asf compared to rhysand in the first book, so I didnt care. His character assassination was convincing enough
    that being said this series has tons of problems, one of which being infodumping, I couldnt care about rhysands backstory or his friends, I couldnt care about anything at all that was going on, and by the time the third book is there the plot is recycled, there is nothing to say about thr characters bc it was all infodumped last book, and rhysand and feyre are already together sooo???? what now??? how do you shit out 700 pages of nothing???? credits to SJM for that

    ok so first of all rhysand has been through so much. he literally had to sleep with the person he hated the most for 49 years to save the people he loves... and you guys say he’s a bad guy? he’s literally so caring towards feyre and always gives her a choice and supports her no matter what. he brought her out of ptsd when tamlin was destroying her. he was a good guy and everything bad he had done was justified for a good reason which was thag he was protecting feyre.

      i'm so happy that people really like acomaf and they can appreciate the retconning that sjm did in this book. rhys has a lot of fans out there, but he will never be a character that i appreciate for all the reasons that i discuss in this video. if you wanted the full video and still disagree that's great, but i'm not trying to change anyone's opinion on the matter. i'm here to talk about my interpretation of the text and keep moving

      So breaking her already broken arm is justified to force her into a contract so he can feed on her for information about the spring court? Drugging her and having her dance drunk NAKED in front of the entire court system is redeemable because he wanted to piss off Tamlin? (and then randomly decided he wanted to stop others from touching her? BS, the paint was enough and he can literally read peoples minds, lol) Giving her a choice? Telling her to do one bad thing or another and that those are her only options is giving her a choice? No, thats manipulating her to choose what she most likely would which would benefit rhysand. cuz leaving her a choice be, "this is the situation, what do you think we should do?" instead of telling these are the only two things. who knows, if she had THE CHOICE, maybe should could of thought of a third option? Completely leaving her in the dark about the weaver, and other characters is not manipulating her and taking advantage of her? Rhysands tragic backstory is cool and all, but making it into a romantic excuse is pure BS lol

      Que romántico y protector es que te torturen, te droguen, te humillen y maltraten frente a otras personas para poder demostrar amor. Tu comentario se cae por si solo al decir que aun cuando Rhysand fue abusado por 5o años, no tuvo piedad por Feyre y termino abusando de su compañera. Rhysand es un personaje nefasto que se escuda en halagos seudo feministas para manipular a Feyre. Cada lector es libre de enamorarse del personaje que quiera. Sin embargo, no se puede tapar el sol con un dedo y Rhysand no es mejor que Tamlin con sus actitudes machista y su actuar que no respeta la vida de nadie. Permitio que mataran a Claire cuando dejó que creyeran que era Feyre.
      No tiene escrupulos.

      @@BN-hp8um - Agreed. Those "it's your choice" sounds and seems manipulative considering a.) it makes one think they have one despite the choices being dictated by him and b.) he still has a say on which information he may/may not feed you with ergo, going back to a.).
