I found my way here through the Makers Secret Santa series and am working my way through all your content. So glad I found your channel.
I started with Xyla and I've been following the Secret Santa Trail from "This Old Tony" (who, thankfully, listed all the Santa's) to here. When I got to your channel I immediately subbed and dinged that bell!! So many super talented makers giving us all joy this year! Your idea for light movement without mechanics was a stroke of genius.
I started with . T.O.T then Xyla and now I'm bouncing all over the shop😀. It's great innit!

What direction did you go? I started with The Hacksmith, then Kids Invent, then Alan, etc. Basically seeing the present at the end of the vid, then seeing how it was made in the next video.
@@gavinli1368 I started with Colin Furze, and followed from there for four further videos, going forward to see the gift received. So I got as far as T.O.T. before stopping for the night. Then today I found the playlist on the Kids Invent Stuff channel and watched in order.
Colin Furze and Look Mum No Computer were the only channels I was subscribed to; I was slightly aware of Xyla Foxlin. I've now found a bunch of other awesome people.
I watched Hackmaster make your gift, then found your channel for the reaction. I loved your butterfly light build too, that was beautiful. I will say, your creativity and last name reminds me of my fav childhood hero, named David Ulrich. He was a brilliant computer and electronic engineer. Seen him build things like an MP3 player out of a hard drive, LCD display, and a speaker. Or even a motor that automated rolling up the pool cover. He was like a real life tony stark to me, and my inspiration to get into computer programming. So I salute you makers, impressing and inspiring dreams of our youth. ;)

I was blown away by the butterfly light but then completely floored by the fire tube.
YTMSS is possibly the best thing on youtube right about now. You get to see so many fun and interesting projects made for a specific recipient and also, the reactions all the while being introduced to new makers. I started with TOT a few years back and found all kinds of new makers and it's just been a blast. I like your style, and energy, keep it up and thanks to all the makers this year for making such amazing memories. Makes me want to get on the ball and finalize my own lil projects and maybe make short videos on them to share myself.

Yep, James is definitely an engineer. Lol! I love writing manuals for people, because it is fun trying to work logically through something. When you write manuals you quickly realize that you make a lot of assumptions and everyone interprets instructions differently. Being clear and concise is a hard skill to master.

This is super freaking neat dude! if you ever decide to come back to a concept like this it’s worth knowing that if you take a red, a blue, and a green light slightly offset from each other, they cast cyan, magenta, and yellow shadows, and I think you could get some really crazy effects in combination with the cutouts. also, still looking forward to part 3 of the puzzle box vid

My favorite memory of a Ruben's tube is when we convinced my highschool physics teacher to light it with a Van De Graaff generator. He singed his finger hair

that came out awesome! Quick tip for welding thin stuff to thick, heat up the thick material with a torch till its glowing, and then zap it, boom no more break throughs, and a series of quick tacks becomes the final weld. hope it helps :)

Loved your build! It would have been interesting to see it use multiple lights of different colors independently moving, so they form shadows that move separately and the lights create different colors where they overlap. I'm really glad you brought out the textures and vibe of the original object rather than hiding them.

He's an 8 year old Jug (Jack Russell / pug cross) we rescued from a shelter when he was 7 months and he is our world and an awesome Best friend for the whole family...that said he's buggered off downstairs now and I'm getting cold lol)
