There was DEFINITELY a bias. The guest judge was the main proponent. Even Navarro said that he'd wear Jamie's tattoo over Sarahs, but the guest judge pushed against Jamie.
He really did. I’m rewatching it’s and they never mention his lack of tattoos until that episode.

If anything you should be looking at the artists past tattoos on other people, cause chances are most tattoos on themselves are from other artists anyway.

I really hate everyone who judged him for not having tattoos its like having a promise and your “friends” want you to break it.
It’s like they say society is judging them for having ink and then in a smaller community they show the exact inverse prejudice they blame society.

@monzterrr No, it's disrespectful to judge an artist's ability by their choices of their body and not on their talent, hard work and the finished product. That's basically saying you aren't a good painter on canvas if you don't paint yourself, or you're not a better hairstylist if you're bald.

@monzterrr Knowing my teachers and my surgeon friends, I can confidently say that no, it's not most of them. Plastic surgeons do have higher chances of having procedures done, albeit most are minor or non invasive, but not other specialties.

Getting eliminated cuz u dont have tatoos is stupid in my opinion that's different and unique and artist who dont have tatoos can have the same skill or even better skills then some artist who have tatoos

It is perfectly possible to appreciate the historical tradition and the cultural elements of body art without having any tattoos yourself. The choice for going ink-free cannot logically have any impact on your talent.
I just finished the 2nd season. Even Navarro said that he would rather wear Jamies tattoo than Sarahs, but the guest judge kept pushing against Jamie, and they sent him home.
You should watch the other season of Ink Master, they voted off an artist because he didn't have any tattoos on his body!
Watching the episode, the judges talked about how the artist didn't have any tattoos & should. The artist goes on about how tattooed people complain about not getting jobs because of tattoos and it would be stupid if they voted him off because he didn't have any... which they ended up doing.
Personally, I thought it was a stupid reason to be voted off.

@@STVNR Jamie could’ve won, he had a great run the entire show and it literally came to him not having any tattoos. That is fucked, he lost 100k not because he did a bad job but because he doesn’t have any tats. If the guest judge wasn’t there Jamie would’ve went through to the next round
Just saw this episode and I must say it really pissed me off. Part of the reason I've held off on getting tattoos is because of my worry on how any future employers would hold that against me. A tattoo artist was one of the few jobs I thought was safe from that type of social ridicule, so for that guest judge to go and call Jaime out like that just blew my mind. I don't care how good and well known that guest judge is; he just lost all my respect. How are you ever going to expect all professions to be openly acceptable of tattoos when you have a well known artist in the tattoo world turn around and pull the same shit. On TV for everyone to see non the less. Such a shame.

Im rewatching this show after the first air many years ago and now im reminded of what happened to jamie. If i were jamie i wouldve yelled and tore the judges a new one because they were in all the wrong and walked off the show. He was robbed
Jamie was great, he was badass, smart and obsly a good tattooer. It was so fucking stupid to judge and criticize the fact that he doesn't have tattoos, even Sebastian did so. At least there was someone with brain like Steve who agreed with Jamie.

I like the idea of a tattoo show, but I want it to be about tattoo's not fucking real world mtv meets tattooing. This bullshit reminds me of what OCC used to be and what it became. Started out about bike building, turned into a fucking soap opera.
I love Japanese art, and love how they draw water.
Gee Whiz this show is so realistic! Just like all the other reality tv shows I watch constantly! I should probably tell everyone about how much I know about tattooing based on my knowledge of watching people on Ink Master.

I don't know who Mike Rubendahl is, but if he's meant to be world famous, why isn't he up there with the Japanese legends such as Horiyoshi III? They guys who learnt from the originals and mastered from origins of actual Traditional Japanese Tattooing?

@@alexsanchez0700 I don't give an actual fuck who he is. What he did to Jamie is the worst sort of arrogant tattoo artist's gate-keeping bullshit. A mature, level-headed, secure professional understands that everyone is different and approaches their vocation and personal choices differently so there's no point expecting other people to do as you do; just judge them on their merits. But he judged Jamie for not having tatts and basically got him kicked off the show, because the other judges pussied out in agreement with him instead of pushing back (they had never taken issue with Jamie before Mike chimed in). This dick earned his way onto my forever shitlist for the Jamie incident.
I really saw Jamie, Steve and possibly Sarah as the main three at the finale. Felt off with Sebastian.

The guy clearly knew what he was doing. The fact that he doesnt have tattoos means nothing.

Good for you, but maybe try to figure out WHY you have this weird judgement. The majority of tattoos that tattoo artists get are also done by OTHER artists. Them having amazing tattoos on their back for example says nothing about their skill, but instead someone else's. Theres plenty of bald hairdressers that cut amazing hair, and male hairdressers who cut womens hair even though theyve never had long hair themselves. It makes no sense.

I know this is a game show and you want to win, when you know your opponent can't draw a dragon for their life and then you give them a canvas that wants a dragon that s***'s going to be on their body for the rest of their life. Yeah this show died for me because of the bearly hidden bias the judges have. It wouldn't surprise me if they already picked the seasons potential winners before it even begins.
