    I wouldn't say that the sun have a less distance to travel towards the equator, rather that the sun hits the earth at a more concentrated angle which gives more heat.

      Hello, you are correct - the suns energy is diffused more due to the angle at higher latitudes as well as a greater distance. However the latter is the only mentioned in the L3 text.

    Does the Gulf stream effect give a warming effect on Spain (Ria Baixas) and Portugal? I thought it has a cooling effect there?

      Hello thanks for the comment. The Gulf Stream actually has a marginal effect on Iberia in comparison to NW Europe according to the MET office.
