Anyone who cons a casino deserves my utmost respect. All casinos do is con gamblers, so anyone getting their own back is fine by me. Casinos and bookies ruin just as many lives (if not more) than a gun toting drug dealer!!! The only difference is drug dealers don't advertise on TV and online!!!
While I certainly don't condone anything illegal, legalized gambling is among the many things that perplex me in our society. Then again, I also feel that people should be free to make their own choices in life. They know the consequences before they walk in. It's definitely a double edged sword.
Zero2Hero I know what it is to live with an addictive personality, and though my vice wasn't gambling I know people who are addicted to online gambling. There are a lot of comments concerning IVEY. What has not been mentioned is IVEY and the Casino had an arrangement prior to IVEY even playing. 1. Same decks, 2 Same Dealer, 3. IVEY had someone with him that was an expert in edge sorting. 4. His bets had to be a MIN of $5000 a hand, and he had to place several million in the casinos safe as collateral. This whole thing is a case of the casino agreeing to terms set by a high roller to get them into the casino, with the player agreeing to the casinos term of funds and min bets. IVEY simply made the bets, his edge sorting pro did the work.
That guy that was accused for memorizing patterns on the cards is complete bs should have been let go with his winnings the casino should be held responsible and replace their cards.
If you read into it it gets even more fucked up, he basically told them he would be doing it. It’s called edge sorting and they were just pissed he won
Yeah he could do it because he used his influence to get what he wanted. The deck of cards he wanted so he could cheat easily, a dealer that may be involved but ot has not been proven and to play with a well known casino scammer that got banned multiple times. So yeah, the casino was really dumb but Ivey cheated. Would you play a poker cash game with him now? I bet his friends wouldn't.

I don’t get why the Rosselli brothers aren’t number one on this list instead of dead last. Over 30+ million stolen and both of them never caught? Perfect heist. Literally.
Because it was identity theft, not really related to gambling. The scammers had contacts in Las Vegas to help them ID rich "whales" who gambled a lot and thus wouldn't notice right away if they got ripped off; they then stole their identities and used them to open new lines of credit (which they then liquidated into cash somehow).
#7 is wrong. Ivey lost his lawsuit because they asked the dealer to rotate cards. The casinos want to call edge-sorting cheating, but the courts disagree.
Ivy wasn’t just edge sorting. He literally requested they used a certain brand of cards that he knew had this defect and requested they cannot change the cards while he’s playing. Had it just been random cards at the casino that he was able to do edge counting, I don’t think he would have lost that lawsuit. At the time, edge counting was not considered cheating however the casino has the right to not let you play. But they would have had to pay out.
Ivy case is total bs. If a player can pay that much attention to details of the deck and to the game? Its not his fault, it's the casinos for being careless about their decks. What a fuckin scam. They earn millions and millions a year but when this guy wins his money fair he's called a "cheater." Fuck that casino.
In Phil Ivey's case, he had negotiated the terms of the game before hand. He requested that a specific deck of cards be used and a dealer of his choice and play for a set amount of time which they agreed to both since he deposited the cash he would play with up front. They figured that regardless of the stipulations that Ivey would still lose but he didn't. They knew that he would edge sort the cards but went alone with it anyway. They must've figured that if he lost , good for the casino. If he won , they'll take him to court claiming he cheated and recoup the money they lost knowing they'd win the lawsuit since the casinos are in business with the governments and have the best lawyers. They must've been really salty that he had swindled them at their own hustle. But it's not like they would've gave him his money back had he lost by saying the game wasn't fair so therefore doesn't count. Ivey beat them for millions and they couldn't take it. So they cry about it to big brother government. Fucking pieces of hippo shit they are!!!
Nora Die H0e Right, if Ivy cheated, they for sure would have had him charged. But more or less the courts said it was unfair would Ivey did. The brains behind this story was a chubby Asian woman, named Sun. She used Phil as her big player, and the casinos being stupid gave them the keys to the house, the casinos deserved to have their money taken, dumb shits.
It's a difficult one to explain without giving away the knowledge to someone who is likely to try his techniques. In the 70s when I was about 17 we had a locksmith friend who taught us a number of scams on how to defraud slot machines. From removing a selected rivet so a 6inch length of wire coat hanger could be used to trip the coin insert resulting in free plays as long as you wanted. On other machines by picking the lock on the side of the machine you could access the mechanism that stored your winnings in the bank, again careful maneuvering of a longer piece of wire would short the counter resulting in the bank total increasing rapidly. This was a tricky move though, shorting the counter for more than a second or two resulted in the bank's total reaching an astronomical amount and you'd have to leave quickly before the security caught you. Also waving a length of coat hanger around in the back of a machine full of electrical components and wires led to a few shocking experiences
grabbing $16,000,000 from rigging slot machines over a 22-year period then got caught, jailed and came back w updated method in digital era.. friend ratted him and jailed again.. think died in jail..
Fact check for your Phil Ivey story - He was not edge sorting. His partner sitting at the table with him was and signaling to him. His partner was an Asian woman who was well trained in edge sorting, Phil does not posses this talent. His contribution to the scam was being able to have the game rules slightly modified to make the game more conducive to reading the edges, this was because of his hi--roller status.
20 years ago I visited Australia from New Zealand where I live when I came back I played a slot machine in a bar and put an Australian $1 coin in by mistake but the machine accepted it and gave me credit of $2 for it. The weight of the Australian coin must have weighed the same as our New Zealand coin. The exchange rate was about the same so mate and I organised a mate in Australia to change $20,000 to $1 coins, he had to visit plenty of banks to do it. Then we shipped the coins back home through a relation who worked in freight forwarding company. Once here we hit the bars putting the Aussie coins in to around $500 a machine then got paid out as once machines hit $500 they don't cash out in coins. Operator pays you cash and deletes the credits on the machine back to zero. Only took 2 days to double our money. Lot of work but fun doing it. Just felt sorry for the players after cashing out winnnings and getting Aussie $1 coins not New Zealand $2 ones. Didn't make a fortune but still a scam that we pulled off.
Phil ivey thing isn't really what happened, he actually asked for a specific deck and a Asian dealer that 2 different casinos agreed to. Edge swording isn't cheating because the casino can choose to have other decks
How can edge sorting work when you have to bet before the cards come out how would they know what cards what coming out of the shoe without seeing them??
The Ivey scam is still partly the casino's fault for not using a fresh pack at such a high stakes game. They got lazy. Ivey should have been allowed to keep some of his winnings.
All casinos will scam you. It's known that slots are all computerized and don't pay out until they gain a certain percentage. Table games are also a big scam, dealers take classes in how to count cards, trick you and there's even some magician skills they take classes for on high end tables. Seen it , worked in Casinos for over 20years.
When you win at slots and they claim the machine malfunctioned and they take away your prize how do we know when the the machine is malfunctioning when the house wins?
Ivey exploited a defect and the Gambling commision has the final words in most cases. Ivy wont go hungry either. He has tried a few tricks in other games noting defects and its kinda shady for a world class player to lose respect doing anything non straight up. He does not have to cheat he's to good for that
card marking is more easy than you may think. Stand by for RFID hacking and reading, not to mention inside cheating and relaying the RFID outputs to compatriots
You completely mis reported Phil Iveys edge sorting case. He asked for the specific decks used in rotation requested an Asian dealer, among other requests. All that the casino granted.
The absolute best scam (until they got caught) was the hollowed-out 3 chip stack of blacks. It was a real $100 chip on top of a hollow short cylinder that looked exactly like 3 $100 chips. The dealer was in on it, and when the player lost a hand, the dealer would collect the hollow stack, put it in his rack and it will 'fill' with 2 other $100 chips. The next time the player won a hand, he'd get paid $300 for the 100 he lost before. All night, playing, getting paid 3 for one - they KILLED. I don't know if they ended up GETTING killed, it WAS back in the day.
Casinos spend billions of dollars trying to combat scammers. If they are dumb enough to use faulty decks, shame on them. Edge sorting just exposes their weakness. It isn't a scam it just gives certain players an advantage. I personally don't believe that counting cards is a scam either. It's just an advantage that few players have.
ok learn me on this...Ivey played a game where you make your bets BEFORE the cards are dealt. How can edge sorting be used? Maybe I'm just really stupid

The city is loaded with parasite scam artists, drug addicts and assorted scum that prey on visitors. This includes scuz from the time you get off a airplane to the casino floor itself. The nevada state gambling has to try harder on vegas but i'm not holding my breath any time soon.
Very interesting. As casinos are just legalized criminal businesses, its no wonder people will try to defeat them. When you offer game that are already fixed in the house's favour, do you blame them for trying? Using your brain for observing cards, counting cards and then being banned for that skill...is the criminal act.
It's Karma, bookies and casinos have ruined millions of problem gamblers. The laws seem so harsh against cheating I'm surprised every human worldwide is Not forced to gamble , like a worldwide stealth tax
You and the casinos are wrong about edge sorting being "a scam". The casino chose to use cards that had anomalies, not the player. The player just took advantage of that fact. This is not a scam, this is an advantage, like card counting, which is also not cheating.
Card counting actually isnt against any rules or illegal. Nor is it illegal for the casino to "refuse you service" or kick you out. They cant take your chips tho
About the ball thing. they just used the casino cheating against it. all roulette tables now uses piezoelectric ceramic ball and they got magnetised wiht ultra sound and will always get repllled from any slot that carrys same electromentic pole. if you see the ball vabirate then the casino is using it.
It doesn't matter if I lose long as I am winning more times than I'm losing that's what I learned and it took me about fifteen years to learn that MUCH, about how to play don't follow ME that's why I would play and wouldn't come BACK for a long time ,until I learned that fact, to count how many games I WON.
Card counting absolutely is cheating- being “smarter” has nothing to do with it. You can be smarter than a lot of people and use those smarts to cheat them. You’re offered the game at certain odds of winning money. You don’t get to use any methods (whether through internal or external assistance) to alter those odds of winning money. Saying it’s not cheating is simply being intellectually dishonest.
This makes me mad. When casinos cheat, it's called business (yes, hosting games with odds in the favor of the house IS definitely cheating). When players do the same thing, they're thrown in prison like they just killed someone...
anyone winning huge bet's in any casino would draw there attention ?? it's very unlikely to get away with anything like that for very long there eye's in the sky everywhere not to say there always someone trying to beat the system ?? but no for long ??
Alot of those people made the mistake of winning too much too soon without losing on purpose in between. Had they not gotten greedy, they'd be just fine .
And then you have outliers like Kerry Packer, who was an Australian billionaire. Guy lost large amounts, by also won $30+ million on multiple occasions, because he had the money to gamble $1 million a hand at Black Jack.
The edge sorting scam was not a scam. The casinos consented to it. It did not guarantee him a win but did increase his odds. After this skillful play was completed he did in fact win and that is when they took legal action...and won. Had he lost, I don't think the casinos would have given him his money back. I think it was bull s***. He asked for specific decks, and for them to be turned certain ways. The floor men are well aware of all the angles in the game, especially at high stakes. They are the proxy of the casino and they allowed it. He deserves his money. They were willing to take his action and then they cried after they lost.

@@fakhrussalhin3149 Hell if I know, I'm not a lawyer. I know if you cheat in a casino like in Las Vegas they'll ether detain you and call the cops or tell you never to come back. Maybe because he's a "celebrity", or maybe because they found out after the fact. All I know is that he has to give the money back.
Anyone who cons a casino deserves my utmost respect. All casinos do is con gamblers, so anyone getting their own back is fine by me. Gambling can be an addiction, and casinos are just taking advantage of people in EXACTLY the same way as a drug dealer does with an addict.
I live in England and we have ads for online sites and betting shops on TV. As an addict I know it wouldn't be good to have temptation shoved in your face with glamorous adverts chipping away at your poor self control. It's a crappy life dealing with any addictions, believe me!!! But as long as our governments keep making money that's all that matters, forget about the people that suffer the consequences!!!
Everyone has their vices, and I agree that addiction is a horrible thing to deal with, regardless of the poison.
Huh? Big Pharma advertises on TV every day and if the truth were known it would be declared a criminal activity. How is that you ask? People are being "programmed" by commercials for starters... Then consider pricing in the US compared to other countries... then consider 20% or more of big pharma drugs are really placebos... Their is more...
So... who decides to walk into a casino? Answer... people that like to gamble... who is responsible for walking into a casino? Is it the casino or the gambler?
@@tedosmundson7326 I absolutely agree with you but its still up to the person that has to walk in and has the freedom to make his own choice. But that choice wouldn't be available to make if the casino didn't present the opportunity to do so . At the end of the day , yes it's a double edged sword. You can't really justify it all on one party.
The one with Phil wasn't a scam. Him and the casino agreed on certain terms. And one of the terms allowed Phill and the person he was with at the time to look at the cards dealt, before placing a bet. The casino was sour because of what they allowed.
Brandon Griffith Also, Ivey didn’t have the skill to do the edge sorting. He had a woman who sat with him and was able to do so and signal to him when he had an advantage.
And Ivey didn’t face the lawsuit, he was the one that BROUGHT the lawsuit, because the Casino refused to pay him the $10 million.
Brandon Griffith it’s cheating bro
The casino agreed to every one of Ivey’s request then reneged. Sad.

Edge sorting isn't a scam. It's the casino's problem if they use cards that can be sorted by deviations.

"After 2 substantial winnings the casino called the police" LMFAO
That was very entertaining👍👍
In defense of Phil Ivey, he was never arrested by the casino commission and -- although it exploited a weakness in the casino system -- it is NOT cheating and NOT illegal.
The fact that he lost the suit and could not recover his winnings just proves the casino has better lawyers or that the commission couldn't let this go.
Phil Ivey is not a cheat and did nothing illegal
Part you left out was Ivey didnt edge sort, his companion was doing the edge sorting
@@JohnSmith-yg9dv
Where did you hear THAT? There are other vids where Ivey says that he was "exploiting an edge to even the house odds".
True, that doesn't mean he wasn't doing it with help.
But
He did the edge sorting on casinos in England and other places as well.
Question: Are you saying that he ALWAYS had someone else doing it?
I hold Ivey in such high regard that I figured it was him doing the "counting" and the math and the work.

He used his popularity to scam them basically.

Chicco I wouldn’t play poker with a professional anyway, and if he lost they would have no issue taking his money so why shouldn’t they pay out
I don’t get why the Rosselli brothers aren’t number one on this list instead of dead last.
The heists fascinate me that people can come up so many creative ideas. I love games too.

Exactly my thoughts.
He said slot machines

How did the blackjack machine work exactly. Did the machine record the cards
Good for you !! I applaud anyone who manages to beat the system. For they are very corrupt and don't give a dam about the common folk.
Dont feel bad. If that player was smart they would be able to do the same thing you did with the $1 coins
@Black Knight we did most of it outside our City so we wouldn't be seen again in the bars we hit.

All casinos will scam you. It's known that slots are all computerized and don't pay out until they gain a certain percentage. Table games are also a big scam, dealers take classes in how to count cards, trick you and there's even some magician skills they take classes for on high end tables.
I don't know if they ended up GETTING killed, it WAS back in the day.
chips as you probably know have RFID chips in them

Casinos spend billions of dollars trying to combat scammers. If they are dumb enough to use faulty decks, shame on them. Edge sorting just exposes their weakness. It isn't a scam it just gives certain players an advantage. I personally don't believe that counting cards is a scam either. It's just an advantage that few players have.

Very interesting. As casinos are just legalized criminal businesses, its no wonder people will try to defeat them. When you offer game that are already fixed in the house's favour, do you blame them for trying? Using your brain for observing cards, counting cards and then being banned for that skill...is the criminal act.

You and the casinos are wrong about edge sorting being "a scam". The casino chose to use cards that had anomalies, not the player. The player just took advantage of that fact. This is not a scam, this is an advantage, like card counting, which is also not cheating.
#7 card memorizing should not be considered illegal - all the materials are the casino's and the player used nothing but his mind.
Card counting actually isnt against any rules or illegal. Nor is it illegal for the casino to "refuse you service" or kick you out. They cant take your chips tho
The Phil Ivey one is ridiculous. How could that be ruled cheating?

It doesn't matter if I lose long as I am winning more times than I'm losing that's what I learned and it took me about fifteen years to learn that MUCH, about how to play don't follow ME that's why I would play and wouldn't come BACK for a long time ,until I learned that fact, to count how many games I WON.
Lastly so old mate at end made hall of fame for openly gaming them, lol....... cheers mate for upload..
How is it cheating? To keep count of cards dealt? It makes no sense
I cheated at the casino once, and my gf broke up with me. It cost me $200.
Many of the examples did not really explain how the 'scams' worked: thus the 395 dislikes as of now
The edge sorting scam was not a scam.
I do not know how these people get there ginormous balls through the casino doors without notice.
