Hello Sriram Sir😊 It was an absolute pleasure to watch this video and hear about the great Pallava kings and their unique style of temple architecture....it fills me with a certain sense of pride and belonging....thank you so much. I request you to kindly post more such videos regarding the ancient temples all over Tamil Nadu from an archaeological perspective as your sources references and opinions are unbiased and informative none the less. Thank you once again Kind Regards Divya Sadagopan 😊
1) on it's South the Rani Mangammal Museum, 2) The Catholic church of St.Lourdes, where the Lord Wellesly's marriage was solemnized to it's west, and 3) schwartz memorial, oldest Anglican church, and 4) Tippu's built wall called Main guard gate, 5) Oldest Park with Victoria's statue on the chinna kadai veedhi just behind the Town hall and of course 6) the Teppakulam. 7) Clive's house which is now a men's hostel of the St. Joseph's college.
Other places of historic interest in and around the Rock are (a) Robert Clive's house when he stayed in Tiruchirappalli, (b) Church built by the Danes in the 18th century, (c) Tank and pavilion used during the float festival of the temple.
Between the upper and the lower temples is the mid-level Mathrubhuteswara temple. Interestingly, you mention the Pallava and the Pandya era references but Uraiyur, a part of Trichy, was also the capital of the Chola dynasty. Would appreciate if you could shed some light on any surviving architectures from that era in that part of town. I am a native of Trichy but never lived there - would visit on holidays during my younger years 45-55 years back.
Copying my comment over from the Tamil video. :-) Six historical locations adjacent to Rockfort 1. Clive's house - House of Lord Clive when he was stationed in Trichy during Carnatic wars 2. Our Lady of Lourdes church 3. Main guard gate - only standing structure left of a wall the encircled the whole area 4. Rani Mangammal Mahal - Built by Chokkanatha Nayak 5. Nather Shah Mosque - contains the remains of Chanda Sahib and the Nawab Wallajah 6. Christ Church - Second oldest church in TN 7. Naganathar swamy temple There are many many more important places in this small area I believe.
