Magdalena Bay = pop perfection 🌟 I'm begging ya, check this one out. LINKIN PARK comeback reaction coming tonight to the second channel www.youtube.com/@beyondartv
Nobody in the business is doing it like Magdalena Bay. Two albums of complete perfection, and that's not even including all of the fantastic singles and EPs! That's My Floor through The Ballad of Matt & Mica might be my favorite 4 song run on an album of all time.
I had never heard of this band before your video and all I can say is THANK YOU for introducing me to this fantastic album! This might even be my 2nd fav album of the year so far behind TTPD.
i didn't even start the video yet and i'm SCREAMING!!! SO HYPE you made a video on this album!! i am a HUUUUGE mag bay fan!! ICONIC!!! incredible album. incredible artists!!
After listening to this album over and over again and being sent to another dimension, I've been asking myself... *just how insane is their next album gonna be?* The hype for 2027 is gonna be unreal. Cry For Me is easily my SOTY, and this album's release has only kept me begging for Epic and Harmonix to add Magdalena Bay to Fortnite Festival. They've put Killshot on the Battle Royale car radio before, so the possibility is there 🤞.
Your Mercurial World review got me into them and oh my god thank you so much, they’ve been one of my favorite bands ever since!! Seeing them live in November, can’t wait 💿
God I'm late to this. I remember how much you loved thier debut, and it feeling like sth I'd like (and now remembering it was your AOTY of that year) wasn't enough for me to check Mag Bay out ig. But now I see them EVERYWHERE so I had to. I went in completely blind. Not knowing a single bit of neither Imaginal Disk, nor anything else from the duo. It didn't immediately grab me as everyone else but it wasn't even their fault. It's been multiple times this year where I start to listen to an album and I'm not in the right mindset or I'm just feeling tired. I was mad cause I was hearing some of the pyschodelic instrumentation and the seemless transitions between songs all in the back of my mind. I wasn't mad at it being good, I was mad at myself for not giving it my full attention. Usually on a 2nd listen I'd start to feel it or sometimes I get it completely. Idk why I wasn't even there. I knew there was good music in my ears but my mind didn't seem to care. 3rd time, where I fortunately felt a bit better (I was busy before and had too much on my mind), and started to realize what I was hearing. Def knew how many great songs were on the disc. Watching the mvs helped a bit, too, tho I always do 1 listen on yt. By the 4th listen my day was going great and during the listening I was sitting on bed, eyes closed, fully emerged on the sound, vibing, dancing on my room, mouthing the lyrics, airplaying the instruments, fully feeling the album. I finally let loose and was having fun. It's crazy cause, despite them talking purposely about brain-washing you with the disc and transporting you to their world, they do say the album is the best in a boastful sort of way and I'm like: "well no shit! If it sounds like this???" They want to brainwash me but girl I've been brainswashed already. I finshed the album and all I could think of was: "daaaamn! That shit was a viiiiiibe!!!" Even though my last listen was a ride, I still feel like I need more time with it. But I think this might be AOTY. I get it now. I succumbed to the pressure of everyone loving this album and to the power of Imaginal Disc. It really is the best disc. Jeez, now they'll make me want to seek out an old DVD player
Been waiting for this review! Didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as Mercurial World, but as it happens, I prefer it and I even ordered the vinyl! Fantastic album by Mag Bay.
I avoided listening to Magdalena Bay for a while after listening to Mercurial World after your review of that and not really getting into it. A few days ago I thought to give it another try and I immediately loved it and didn’t realize how wrong I was 3 years ago. MW has been on repeat for days for me. Listened to the new album today and I didn’t love it as much when comparing first listens but I can definitely see it growing on me.
I have been keeping up with a lot of the CDs that have been released in 2024. I have liked about 80 of them so far. Magdalena Bay's Imaginal Disk is definitely one of the better ones. I had never heard of them before, but the songs here are wonderful. I'll have to check out their other recording.
I loves the album- it was super wacky and fun- don't think I have an album of the year but this is up there with Fred again, st Vincent, last dinner party, childish gambino, and many others.
One thing to note, the last time you gave a modern artist a perfect score on both their debut and sophomore albums was Lorde. We all know what happened next. Do you think Magdalena Bay can nail their 3rd album?
I really, really do. The difference here is the EPs & Mini Mixes. They know what the hell they’re doing and at this point I’d be genuinely shocked if I felt negatively about album 3 😂
I've often said that Magdalena Bay are like the lovechild of CHVRCHES and Tame Impala, while combining the best of both of them. I first found out about this band through this channel, and I'm giving this new album a listen. As of late, I'm thinking two things with them: This feels like an act I wish would've contributed a song to the soundtrack of I Saw The TV Glow. Now THAT movie had some phenomenal soundtrack contributions, Magdalena Bay would've fit in perfectly. Part of me wishes they'd sneak in for a Best New Artist Grammy nomination. I can already tell this year is going to be close between Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter (my money's on Chappell, for the record), but I'd love to see Magdalena Bay get that same kind of recognition. And if they've nominated artists that aren't exactly "new" before, they can probably find room for this group.
Pop so desperately needs Mag Bay, if only the mainstream would open the doors for them (while still letting them cook up music the way they always have lol)
New sub! 🥰 I was looking at your vid revewing albums of 2024 and I was shocked you didn't review Zayn's album Room Under The Stairs 😭 genuinly it's the album of the year for me. It's his best album, I liked that he chose a new and unique sound. I'd love if you react to it ❤
From what I can recall he gave quite a few albums in 2020 a perfect score (a Fiona Apple album, a Spanish Love Songs album, and a Bring Me The Horizon EP) + Magdalena Bay's first album in 2021. If you check his AOTY profile, he changed the score of Wolf Alice's 3rd album to a perfect score (initially 4.5/5 in 2021). He didn't give another perfect score to any album in 2022 and 2023.
I've only listened to the new song once so far, right before this video, but I did feel like it had a familiar Linkin Park sound overall. I didn't love Emily's vocals but I did t hate them either. It feels like she has a LOT of growth to go through to really fit into the band. I'm glad it wasn't someone that i heard was rumored. Anyways this track def feels like they are testing the waters and maybe I'm more open to it because A Thousand Suns is my second favorite album. Emily's voice sounded like it was cracking trying to hit the screaming notes but it was okay.

Hate to always be going off topic but I’ve gotta ask your two cents on the new Marianas Trench album.
@@Tyler108x I actually haven't heard it! I might check it out at some point but I'm not like a diehard for them or anything

Super excited for your top 100 albums of all time! Also super excited to hear this album considering everything I've heard about it!
So extremely real! Honestly might be album of the decade, this will easily land a spot in my top 5 albums ever

Magdalena Bay IS "pop perfection." This decade really needed music like theirs.
I had the same exact response to this album. It’s an absolute game changer.

They remind me of a modern day Goldfrapp
I'm looking forward to this. Nice work!
Brat’s sequel album has arrived early. 😊
I mean, they really only have the base genre in common.
This is one of the best albums of the decade for me.
5/5 LETS GOOOO AOTY
10/10 easy
That melon joke on Fear Sex 😭😭😭
Mag Bay’s debut was definitely not a fluke!
Loving both albums!!
Album of the year!
hands down
Magdalena Bay is so amazing! Discovered them in 2021
I discovered them at the start of 2022. I've been a massive fan ever since.
