  • Yeah, we're beautiful...but we are so much more. Learn about what relevancy, diversity, and inclusion mean to the National Park Service.

    That certainly put a smile on my face after a long day in the office. The people and places of the United States of America are truly beautiful. Bravo to the Park Service.

      How is it racist?

    • @delta1525
      @delta1525 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not racist. Whites get a hell of a boost in having better access to good K-12 schooling, inter-generational economic stability, and centuries of benefitting from the racism and genocide that oppressed minorities. Affirmative action sorta seems like a tiny crumb compared to all of that. It's an okay way of taking people from lower positions in a social hierarchy and putting them on a more balanced playing field.

    • @delta1525
      @delta1525 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because whites are the majority. If you go by ratio, instead of total population, you see that blacks are more likely to be poor.
      Pre-AA, blacks were less likely to be given a job than a white person with the same qualifications.

    I love that this message is brought by the organization that meticulously protects what is uniquely American. Absolutely moving. For all those who say Americans are just the people they like, this serves as a powerful message to clarify exactly who we, Americans, are.

    This has nothing to do with protecting wildlife, plants and natural resources that are inside the parks. Stop worrying about political and social issues and just simply take care of the living things inside the parks.

      I must ask, who is that which protects the wildlife, plants and natural resources inside the national parks? They are people. People with their own stories.

      Here's a little of the American history behind The National Park Service. The National Park Service serves the people of the United States as well as being the conservators of the properties in its portfolio. While it started under Teddy Roosevelt in 1906 to preserve natural landmarks, it is also steward of national cemeteries, national memorials, and national military parks, and the parks in Washington, D.C. FDR added these nationally important sites to the portfolio of NPS in 1933. See www.nps.gov/articles/fdr-s-conservation-legacy.htm. The NPS is continually adding sites to preserve and protect. So, yeah, the NPS is here for ALL the people and ALL the sites it is dedicated to protect and preserve. GO NPS!
