I used to fish near the Bower road causeway for bream using a line straight to a single hook. They spook easy and this worked OK just letting it drift around. Be careful as there are quite a few Blue Ringed Octopus in West Lakes! Nice Videos !
Glad I can help you out mate, great to see you succeeding so much and hopefully even more in the future! Taught me plenty about fishin when I started out, so a few bucks a month is a thank you for that.. another ripper vid, can't get better than Westies!
It’s great to watch you catch and fish where I know it’s good fishing, I’ve been diving in west lakes at the gates and there’s all sorts of great fish yellowfin whiting, king George, salmon, salmon trout, bream, flounder, mullaway, Travies, and one of my favourite big jumping mullet. All great eating huge fish waiting to be caught it’s amazing to go diving for evidence of great fish. Like the new editing and video style Alex thanks for the upload.
great stuff as always Alex, i was wondering what the rules are about fishing close to peoples houses on westlakes. I was always under the impression we werent allowed to because the distance from the water to the property is less than 6 metres. Have you ever had any hassle from geezers?
Richard Willmore Hi Richard. Really appreciate it mate! As long as you're quiet, (which I am, most of the time) and respect the space in front of their property, there won't be any problems! If you think about why there is "no fishing" allowed in front of houses, it's because of the hooligans with a bottle in hand at 2am in the morning. I do bump into the odd people telling me that there is no fishing allowed, which is quite frankly, obvious! So I just move along.
hey Alex im thinking of going for a fish at west lakes are we legally allowed to keep the legal sized fish at west lakes or is it a catch and release area
Peter Pittaway Haha got myself a pair of pliers. Usually to throw em in my pocket for quick needs but didn't this time. I'm pretty use to the pain now 😁
The real sad thing is that Westlakes has changed so much the water quality after the big massive storms. The water is not as clear that used to be many years ago. St kilder Also that water has gone downhill as well there's a real bad pictural smell there it's so tragic.
Thanks mate. I do eat the KGW I catch there when I am targeting them. I'm sure the fish in there are no different to the fish you catch in the ocean, besides the resident bream.
RKfishing where I fish is usually less than a metre. But I believe some of the deepest parts get down to 7m? Though most of it is 3-4m like MiMiC said.

Peter Pittaway But definitely considering attaching a pair to a lanyard around my neck. I do that when kayak fishing.
