She lied and 'd assume got a fake ID saying she was 18, I mean he is considerably older but to say he's a creep because he married a 17 year old isn't fair. I'll add that them making Jerry a good guy was a great move on the filmmakers part. So often the potential stepparent is shown in a negative light so it's refreshing when they decide to not do that. Another example of this is Mrs Doubtfire.
To be fair I don't think the movie implied any way that Mr. Cole knew she was a minor 😂😂, so calling the character a creep and a predator just made me laugh so much
Also people being confused about getting married under age of 18 is legal, but still you cant sign legally binding contract until you are 18. That is the biggest problem in USA, some states have no age limits to marry and if you are under age of 18 you cant hire lawyer to divorce.

I think this is my favorite Jim Carrey movie, though Carey Elwes almost steals the movie from him with his straight-man imitation version of “the claw.” 😂
Jim Carrey's physical comedy is simply unparalleled. In addition to his 90's movies, I also recommend the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG movies for reaction watches.

The one gripe I have with this movie is Fletcher getting back together with his ex. I don't feel the chemistry at all and I think it would've been perfectly fine for them to just be co parents. I'm like 90% certain that sequence at the end is a result of test screenings
Husband claims he didn’t know she lied about one year difference and they don’t look much different in age so he was probably very early 20s or late teens when he married her. I don’t think it was that scandalous a relationship for that at least. Her being extremely loose on the other hand…
I love the blooper scenes after the movie. The guy that plays Jerry is Cary Elwes, you might have seen him in The Pricess Bride and Robin Hood Men In Tights.
Ace Ventura 1 and 2 were my top Jim Carrey movies. I think it's partly because I've always been able to do a perfect imitation of Ace. Even his goofy ass walk.
@adnap I have and it's incredible and deep and shows his range. But it's the goofy ones with his physical comedy that really helped brighten up some of the darker parts of my childhood❤️
@@ColinFox In real life, you should not be dating someone 10+ years younger than you. I used to think like you, then I grew up and realized that big of an age gap usually represented a severe immaturity and desire to manipulate and control their partner. It is not impossible for two people that far in age to be in a healthy relationship, but 9 times out of 10 it's an abusive relationship where the older partner is manipulating someone less mature than them. They choose people younger than them because they know someone their age would see all of their red flags and stop tolerating it in a heartbeat. They prey on naivety, which younger people have in spades. I would never date someone that much younger than me, either way. Do you know how annoying it is to date someone who's lagging behind in experience in life? Having to have constant arguments or talks about why you don't think what they said or did was okay and them just brushing it off because they're immature and thoughtless? As for the character in the movie, the actor may be older than her or they just cast someone who happens to appear older, but it doesn't mean the characters are that old. How many coming of age movies about teenagers do you see where the actors are all nearing their 30s? A lot, _because that's almost all of them._
Classic. One thing I've always really liked is that Jerry isn't an antagonist. He's legitimately a good dude. In a lesser movie the potential stepdad would be a dick. Always found that decision neat
Fletcher absolutely deserved to be single and alone and unhappy. He was a terrible father. He was straight up cheating on his wife multiple times with who knows how many people. And before this he probably got many awful people out of jail because of his lies. A change of heart does not undo everything else.
Mr Cole’s not a creep. If she’s 31 now, got married at 17 that’s 14 years of marriage. Idk how old that guy is but he’d be 14 years younger too when they got married. And since she lied he thought she was 18. What age would be ok for him not to be a creep? Isn’t it half plus 7? He could of been 23 and her “18” and it’d be ok. But he was probably older than 23. 🤣
The boardroom scene is in my top 3 funniest scenes ever. If you haven't seen it, the Principal's office scene in Porky's is my favorite. I loved Liar Liar.
She lied about her age, so he didn’t know she was 17. She’s also a terrible mother, that cheated on him seven times, but he’s the bad guy?! I’m having trouble understanding your warped sense of reality. 😂

Jerry deserved a better partner and Max deserved better parents 😂 This was also before 9/11 so maybe Fletcher could have gotten onto the airstrip that easy. But if this was set in 2025 that plane would have exploded and the ending would have been very different. 😂

To be fair, I don't think the guy realized she was 17 when he got married, but I wouldn't actually remember since it's been awhile since I've seen it and I've only seen it once. I also don't know how things were back then, but considering it would've have had to happen in the 80s, probably not much different. But then again, in Canada, it's 16 as stated in Scott Pilgrim, so I know nothing.
20:26 To be clear it wasnt taking off yet. The runway isnt that close to the gate. It was navigating to the runway via the taxiways, which has some turns and some longer straight segments which the pilot usually drives the plane at about 30 mph. The stairs can drive that fast too. Pilots get clearance to go to the runway and get set up to take off.
During that scene after crashing the stairs if you look carefully at the firefighters one of them is actually Jim Carey. He played a character on the show In Living Color called Fire Marshal Bill.
This film has always held a special place for me because the relationship of Fletcher and Max sort of mirrors the relationship I had with my dad when I was a kid. He wasn't there much, but when he was, he was warm and funny and charming. But he moved out of state when I was young, and I saw less and less of him as I got older because he got remarried and was more focused on his job than parenting.
17:35 I'm pretty sure she didn't tell him that she was under age. She lied about her age to get married, and she also lied to her husband. So yeah, I'd agree if he actually knew, but he didn't.
I’d love you to check out “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” if you haven’t already. It’s a serious movie, which is more rare for Carey, but it’s literally one of my favorites movies of all time and answers the question: “Is it better to have loved and lost than to never love at all.”

I'll point out that Mr Cole is not a creep. He didn't know she was 17.
Cole knew she was a minor 😂😂, so calling the character a creep and a predator just made me laugh so much
☕️
Also people being confused about getting married under age of 18 is legal, but still you cant sign legally binding contract until you are 18.
That is the biggest problem in USA, some states have no age limits to marry and if you are under age of 18 you cant hire lawyer to divorce.
I like that the love interest wasnt a guy you instantly disliked or want the exwife to get away from. He was a good guy, nice to max,and someone who kind of got dicked over.
You gotta watch Me, myself, and Irene next!
*I* need to watch it. It's been too long.
I think this is my favorite Jim Carrey movie, though Carey Elwes almost steals the movie from him with his straight-man imitation version of “the claw.” 😂
I think my favorite is Yes Man, but Liar Liar is top tier. And Carey Elwes is amazing, I agree.
Yesssss Yes Man is a great movie too
You're SCARED of the claw! You're SCARED of the claw?!
Most of the times Cary Elwes does an American accent it takes me WAAAAAAAAY to long to realize it's him
Jim Carrey's physical comedy is simply unparalleled. In addition to his 90's movies, I also recommend the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG movies for reaction watches.
yea he was great before he became political indoctrinated, political extremist
Thank you for recognizing that! You have no idea how sick I am of stupid people dismissing him as “just another typical comedian.” There’s no other comedian who comes close to him… he’s the greatest
Jim Carrey vs Robin Williams
Who ya got???
@@jkhoover ah man! please don’t do this to me lol 😂 that’s impossible to choose. They’re both the best… But I’m gonna have to go with Jim. Because no one can do physical comedy like him
She LIED about her age at 17 to get married to an adult.
Natalie: "what a creep HE married a 17 year old"
Where's the accountability jeez 😅
What do you expect from someone who is a Hollywood wannabe and, most likely, believes ALL the Me Too! stories when a lot of them have been debunked. I'm guessing she finds it hard to believe in accountability for women. Blame it on the patriarchy and damn self-responsibility.
The man always has to be in the wrong with her LOL. Women are NEVER the problem.
"He's a man, so it must be his fault." The sickening mindset so many people have today.
The Mask and The Cable Guy are 100% watch JC movies.
Yes Man also. I've only seen one other person react to it.
I wonder how Natalie would react if she reacted to The Boondocks. 😂🤔 I don’t think she can take the jokes in that show 😂
I love the blooper scenes after the movie.
The guy that plays Jerry is Cary Elwes, you might have seen him in The Pricess Bride and Robin Hood Men In Tights.
And Stranger Things S3!
And Saw
Yo the credits outtakes?!!!! They're the best.
“I’m a bad father!” …. That line and his realization gets me every time.
I’ve been extra depressed the last few days to a week and this reaction even improved my mood so thanks for this Natalie.
The Grinch and the Truman Show are my top favorite Carrey movies. He was such a huge part of my childhood
Have you SEEN Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind?
Ace Ventura 1 and 2 were my top Jim Carrey movies. I think it's partly because I've always been able to do a perfect imitation of Ace. Even his goofy ass walk.
@adnap I have and it's incredible and deep and shows his range. But it's the goofy ones with his physical comedy that really helped brighten up some of the darker parts of my childhood❤️
@ Fair.
@@-TheShaun- do know where that walk comes from?? The character of Ace Ventura is based on a bird… the walk, the hairstyle, the colorful shirt etc
To be fair, he didn't *know* she was 17. She lied about her age and falsified her documentation.
Her brain does not comprehend that level of nuance. She heard the age difference and thats it, he is bad now.
He does not look close to 31 so he was dating someone MUCH younger than himself regardless.
@@Daniel-Star Who cares! She doesn't even look 31 either. She looks like shes closer to 40 and so does he. Anyone over 18 is fair game.
@@Daniel-Star Don't be ageist
He's just a little bit... magoo.
My absolute favorite movie growing up!
Me and my sister quoted this allll too often !
I couldn't believe you predicted Fletcher was going to say, "I've had better."
Try more '90s-2000s comedies . Adam Sandler , Ben Stiller , Jim Carrey , The Hangover .
Ya know I’ll admit it. I have a addiction to reaction channels. I follow Aron of them and watch them all the time. The best part by far is that I never remember who has watched what so I get little treats like this when I learn someone hadn’t reacted to one of my favorite movies. Always a treat.
Same, i even rewatch some to experience the "first time watch" again..😅
I love goose blooper so much 💕
Natalie, I just discovered you recently and am happy to subscribe. Your reactions and laughter to movies for me are honest and golden! Your follow up insights are always spot-on. Thank you for this channel.
This is peak Carrey. If anyone needs to be introduced to him, I recommend this.
“What’s your problem?!”
“I’m an insensitive prick!!!!”😂😂😂😂
Plus I'm cheap!
Yesssssssssssssss. A literal classic!! Me and my family always love quoting the "I've had better?!?!?!?"
My friends and I used to always quote the pen scene
@@AscendedXSaiyan YESSS and re-enact it!!! This movie just has so many really good quotes.
Jerry deserved a better partner and Max deserved better parents 😂
This was also before 9/11 so maybe Fletcher could have gotten onto the airstrip that easy.
But if this was set in 2025 that plane would have exploded and the ending would have been very different. 😂
This movie, "Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind", and "Million Dollar Baby", flat out killed me emotionally. I flat out cried like a baby. 🤣🤣
NGL, this movie has always been GOLDEN to me. Im not a 90's kid. But i grew up watching this on dvd. I know this movie by heart. Loved your reaction. This might be the one that gets me to sub to your Patrion because i would love to see your full reaction! Thank you natlie to reacting to this gem!😊
The Number 23 is my FAVORITE Jim Carrey movie! It's SO UNDERRATED!
20:26
To be clear it wasnt taking off yet. The runway isnt that close to the gate. It was navigating to the runway via the taxiways, which has some turns and some longer straight segments which the pilot usually drives the plane at about 30 mph. The stairs can drive that fast too. Pilots get clearance to go to the runway and get set up to take off.
One of my favorite movies ever. The writing is amazing and Carrey executes is perfectly. I can quote most of this movie.
I love that Jim made a cameo in his own movie as his Fire Marshall Bill character from "In Living Color" at the airport
How is it the husband's fault for being lied to?
And a predator as well apparently. Jesus.
@@kennethlecount8984☕..🤷🏻♂️
Cuz he's a man. That our society for ya
Older men getting married to teenage girls is gross, regardless of the law.
@@Carrotspy "no matter its legal and consent, ill mess my nose in everyone's lifes to fit everyone to my morals"
17:35 I'm pretty sure she didn't tell him that she was under age. She lied about her age to get married, and she also lied to her husband. So yeah, I'd agree if he actually knew, but he didn't.
I'm shocked you haven't watched The Truman Show or Ace Ventura on here. Jim Carrey is truly a gem.
The husband didn't know he was marrying a minor, though. He thought she was a legal adult.
I’d love you to check out “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” if you haven’t already. It’s a serious movie, which is more rare for Carey, but it’s literally one of my favorites movies of all time and answers the question: “Is it better to have loved and lost than to never love at all.”
And the number 23
My favorite Jim Carrey movie! So happy you decided to watch this one!
Forgot how much I loved your personality and inthusiasm
Wait, how was the husband supposed to know that she was lying and said she was 18 when she was 17? How is he the creep when she is the liar and the cheater!
What I was thinking. The husband and kids are the true victims.
Because the youth of America can’t seem to understand things they make their own story up whenever they hear anything
Maybe it is a bit too far to call him a predator, but the age difference must have been quite substantial, which makes it borderline regardless.
No, an adult is an adult. Period.
@@IanJenn356094 Yes cause an adult can tell the difference between 17 and 18..right? 🙄
"It's the CLAW" 😂
This movie has some of my favorite unhinged moments. Like when he gets into the elevator with the "new girl" in the building! Or the outtakes, those are hilarious! Or when the tow yard driver scratched his car! "Bend over and take it up the tail-pipe!" LMAO!!
One of my earliest childhood memories was me and sister watching this movie over and over again. This movie made me a Jim Carrey fan!
My favourite moment at 7:39
In the film - "...that was incredible..."
Natalie: "He is going to say he's had better...?"
Dear Natalie, just wait for it in three... two... one...
Natalie and Jim Carrey ❤ what a comfort morning I have today
I suggest Me, Myself, & Irene and also Cable Guy, two of my fave Jim Carrey films
Yes… Me, Myself and Irene is his most underrated movie. It’s a crime how much that movie flew under the radar
You REALLY need to watch the outtakes/bloopers of this movie. Absolutely hilarious.
This is honestly my favorite Jim Carrey movie and truly feel it's one of his most underrated movies of all time! Love that you did a reaction video to this!
“I hold myself in contempt” has broken me every time I’ve watched this movie since I first watched it in like 1997 😭
Lol, in all seriousness, i've seen this movie probably 100 times, one of the few movies i liked to watch that my grandparents owned. Glad someone reacted to it :D
I saw this with a full packed theater in March 1997 and people couldn't stop laughing so hard. The pen is blue scene was crazy. One of the funniest movies I've seen.
Was never in a more packed movie theater for a comedy than Liar Liar. Only this and Austin Powers 2 , do I ever remember laughing this much in a theater.
Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber, and The Grinch are absolute peak Jim Carrey comedies!!
