My collection of Victoria goes back to the 80"s and I have gotten more pleasure from them than I can put into words. Where else can we find such beauty and relaxation. Your video is such pleasure. Thank you.
We who like a traditional Christmas can always glean from the inspiration found in older volumes. I like your cones for the dining chairs. Having worked in a department store where one of my jobs was gift wrapping, I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderfully helpful (and hidable) item double-sided tape is. 🎉
Absolutely my favorite video!! Just because its about 2 Christmas books....my favorite holiday and it is the most wonderful time of the year ❤❤ Love the cones!!
What a wonderful addition to your book reviews. Books by Victoria. I was introduced to these books years ago and had a collection of my own for a while. It was the Victoria books that also inspired me to make cones for my own tree when my children were growing up. They were so fun to do with the family. If you didn’t want to keep them till the next year they were made of paper you could throw them away and start a fresh. The next year. Tying these on the back of chairs is so lovely that I’m sure every guest would love the look and the treat.
I came across Victoria magazine January 1991 at the grocery store. I have every published issue since, and several of their books. I love them. I feel it's a quite, elegant and dignified voice that added such beauty to my life ❤
Love this episode Mary! Fond memories of Victoria magazines and books. I purchased the magazine as well as books for my precious mom year after year... I remember the 2004 book❤
The Tartan Topiary is absolutely unsurpassed. I have seen hundreds of these reviews. It is simply soul soothing :). The ending with Mary, the hostess, is as interesting and valuable as the book reviews. She shows the love of her family by creating a beautiful home. So appreciate her beautiful places and her sharing with us.
Hello Mary! I enjoyed this week's book reviews especially because I love decorating for Christmas! Mary, you never fail me with your beautiful tablescapes. I loved this simple yet elegant craft idea! We have the same style dining chairs, so I am definitely giving this one a try. I am so looking forward to next week's book review as I love anything that has to with the south! Have a wonderful week Mary and I will see you in the next one! Hugs! :) Hi Dan!
HELLO MARY, DANIEL AND LITTLE ORANGE KITTY.... I hope you are doing well. I love this segment of your channel. Nice to bring in the holidays with you and your fabulous channel. Can't wait to see what you bring to us next week. Mary, you need to get into designing home decor. I know whatever you design will be not just be fabulous but very well made. Please look into it this. I feel this is right up your alley. The reason I say this is because the paper cones was a fabulous idea. Thank you for sharing this with your subscribers. Happy holiday's, Angela
This Christmas with your suggestions / reminders let our homes be more beautiful than before.. And, I’m so happy that a season has come “I can forget about my diet”. Thank you very much.. PS: I hope, you continue to tolerate my English..💐
Lovely, lovely ,lovely! I love this time of year. Thank you for sharing these wonderful books. The paper cones are so pretty and look like fun to make. Thank you Mary for another great video. Have a peaceful week. ~🕊️Mary
Love this video I’m a fan of Victoria Magazine I have some that go waaay back like 20 years I still get great ideas off of them I enjoy going thru them. Thank you for sharing them ❤
You are very welcome. During the Covid lockdown, I binged on my old collection of Victoria and Traditional Home magazines. They mainly consisted of Christmas and Spring issues, but I was so glad I kept them.
Hope all is well this evening.... what a great video, and I love the cones 💕. I'm a big Victoria magazine fan starting in 1989, my freshman year of college. I recently found a lot of Victoria magazines from 1992, the year I turned 21. I left my "artsy teenage dirtbag" phase that year, and started living life with more purpose and decorum. Good memories ❤. Have a great weekend.
Love your videos. I have Victoria magazines that go back 20 years. Still look at them ever year 👍😍😘. Can not wait to put up our table top Christmas tree Plus I am going to vermont for 5 days in December. To celebrate with my family can. Not add as it to smell a real Pine .!!!!!😀😃😄 tree
Mary, wonderful Christmas inspiration! And just love your paper cone favors! I hope you are spending some money on jewelry too! Can’t wait to see this upcoming episode!
Hi Mary! I look forward to your videos every week, but none so much as your holiday books! I've purchased a few after you've shown them but this is the first time I've bought in advance of your video! As soon as I saw next week's book from Southern Living I jumped on buying a copy ASAP! I will be flipping through along with you next week and can't wait. I live in CA but I'm a southern girl at heart and I so enjoy our glimpses into your home, life and the charm of the places you visit. BTW, I think Daniel is the most adorable and funny guy and enjoyed your Q&A about how you met. You are a darling couple! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Thank you for all your videos! I enjoy going through the pages with you, and not having to own all the books 📚 appreciate the assortments and inspiration 💐
Wonderful presentation, as usual! You've inspired me to make small paper cones for the Christmas tree. It will be fun to fill them with candy for the little girls next door. I'm looking forward to next week's book! Thank you, Mary.❤
This has been so inspiring Mary plus a cup of tea and your lovely video has cheered me up. I now look forward to the Christmas season, Christmas Cheers from downunder ❤❤❤
Who doesn't love Christmas ~ loved the book reviews this week. The cones were such an added decorative touch to your chairs especially because they were handmade by you. Thank you for your many talents. xo 🎄🎀 Thanksgiving fast approaching !
Hi Mary ~ I have saved several of the Victoria Christmas magazines from years past they always have pretty features! the cones are a lovely addition to Christmas seating. I already know I would love to purchase next week book ! Blessings for a wonderful first week of November ! xo Paula
About 40 years ago I made a tree top angel using a small porcelain doll's head, all that remained of my grandmother's doll, and lots of vintage lace, tulle, and little silk lilies of the valley, all from the same grandmother, who'd been a dressmaker all her life. Also a small piece of her wedding dress, from 1915. It turned out just as I wanted it, and is atop my tree every year. A couple of years ago I casually mentioned it in a comment on Bernadette Banner's channel, and got over 700 thumbs up, and endless questions and comments about how I'd made it, etc. I was amazed. The angel has yellowed even more over the years, which I love, and last year I wrote a note about its history to place with it in storage, so that someone in the future who might appreciate it, will know what they have. I love those cones! I've always liked how they look on a tree, perhaps I'll make a couple this year. Thanks for stirring the embers of my holiday spirit!
What a wonderful way to preserve family memories and in such a tangible way. I appreciate that you honor the past, especially taking the time to document these items by writing a note as to their history!
You know Mary, if you say double feature, I say double fun!! I really enjoyed you featuring these seasonal books. I don't have anything like that so you have peaked my interest. I used to buy the Victoria Magazine religiously. Now I only pick it up every once in awhile. I have a dear friend whose health prevents her from getting around much and she adores the magazine so when I spot it, I pick it up for her. (Of course, I always take a peak at it first, shhh) I was wondering what you thought of the recipes in the book. Were they traditional Christmas recipes and were they fairly simple to do? I adore the paper cones you made. It really is a nice change up compared to putting little wreaths. If we already have a lot of greenery going on, these cones bring that extra whimsy to our decor and you get to offer a little treat to your guests which I think is really lovely. Thank you Mary!! Have a pleasant weekend!!!
The recipes in both books were mainly traditional with some new spins on classic dishes. They ranged in ease of preparation, but all of them seemed like something that could be made no matter one's skill level.
Lovely respite on the day after Halloween before the rush starts. Can’t wait for next week’s book review. Were the flowers in the cones Helebores? … such a sweet idea!
Thank you for again attractive books. I am a curious type, would it ever be possible to give a preview of: "The House Romantic" by Haskell Harris? Thank you in advance
@@pcrice-lr2dn Tell your friend I appreciate her inquiring mind. I may have placed an order from Fortnum and Mason! The order may have consisted of porcelain and other “jewelry” for the home. It should be here tomorrow! I’ll have to share the unboxing on the next weeks video. 😀 🎁
