Another quick way of creating the chord with the same dimensions and formatting as of the first circle is to duplicate the circle after you finish formatting it, then choose that duplicate and on the menu, go to Shape Format > Edit Shape > Change Shape, and change it there to a chord.

This is a great video, thanks. Here is a tip I figured out, making it easier (for me?) to do the fills. Rather than use the chord tool, I copy the original sphere and make a duplicate. On the second ball, I do the following:
    Fill: Gradient fill (3 stops)
    Direction: Linear down
    Left-most color: White; Position 50%; Transparency 100%; Brightness 0%
Middle color: Choose a light color similar to that of the first circle; position 50%; transparency 0%; brightness 60
Right-most (last) color: Choose a darker color than the original circle; position 100%; transparency 0%; brightness -25%
By changing the position of the left-most slider and the middle slider to 50%, you are placing them over each other, so if you want to make changes, you need to manually move them away temporarily. If you want the sphere filled to 75%, you want to invert the math so, the position for both sliders is now 25%.
    Hope this helps.

HI William, thank you for sharing the detailed steps of using gradient fill! This is a good way if you are comfortable using the gradient fill tool.

I really appreciate the way you teach excel tricks. Please I will want you to produce a video on fully automated school register having the following features.
    1. Attendance is taken twice daily
    2. Holidays are conditionally formated.
    3. Total daily attendance for each of the sexes is recorded.
    4. Weekly attendance is calculated.
    5. Weekly percentage attendance is determined.
    6. Termly attendance is calculated.
I will appreciate if you can produce a tutorial on this. Thanks.

+Puja Singh Thank you for writing! Rotating 3D probably requires a 3D software, not PowerPoint.
