    James Brown met Elvis Presley when they were in the club audience of a Jackie Wilson show in 1967. Elvis idolized Jackie.

    NO ONE has shown the ability to sing the variety of songs with the excellence of Jackie Wilson. I saw him first in 1965 in Jacksonville, but the crowd rushed onto the stage before he could finish his set. He is the one.

  • @frdjr2529
    @frdjr2529 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Jackie Wilson should've put this out as a single in 1965. I know it came from the album he released that year, "Spotlight On Jackie Wilson". You had the Righteous Brothers turning out "Unchained Melody" and Mel Carter's "Hold Me Thrill Me". Jackie Wilson with "Stardust" would've been a monster hit alongside those standards, IMHO.

    Jackie Wilson in all his brilliance. Whoever directed the recording did a masterful job. He kept the orchestra in the background - subdued. That let JW's voice shine and sore. BRILLIANT!

    +Kay wheeler ABSOLUTELY greatness knows greatness. They were good friends and had a mutual respect and admiration for one another. Elvis first saw Jackie doing a version of Don't Be Cruel in Vegas. In 56. He never forgot what he saw. And talks about it on the million dollar Quartet recordings.
    Jackie was a singer of unsurpassed vocal ability. Elvis gave Jackie the recognition and respect the world and music business has yet to give him. That's why I will always love and respect Elvis. He was a man true to his heart. When he was moved by something he made sure people knew about it.
    Jackie in kind was defensive about Elvis when they accused him of stealing the black mans music. Saying nearly every black performer had taken something from him too. See this is TRUE UNBIASED MUTUAL RESPECT AND ADMIRATION. Something today's youngsters need to learn from.
    Neither Jackie nor Elvis saw color. If they liked something they liked it. There wasn't any of this ridiculous. Uh I ain't gonna listen to that coz it was recorded by a white guy or a black guy. Music has and should NEVER have any color lines. It's there to be enjoyed and appreciated by ALL peoples of the world.
