I had this in my recommendations and all I can say is 'Go get em girl'. I signed up and joined the Royal Marines on my 18th birthday in December 1970 and if I had my time again, I'd do it all again. When you were taking us through your training certain things were going through my mind. When we were told we were going on our first 9 miler (speed march) we were all feeling sick but we were told to eat as much food at breakfast as we could because we would need it for the stamina. As for blisters, we were told to use medical pads on your back around your waist and shoulders to stop your bergens from rubbing and also on the back of your heels. And the biggest thing drummed into us was 'mental strength' is the key to passing out, especially on the commando tests and the 'Bottom Field' and Tarzan assault courses. My best PB was 8:32, but my cross country training prior to recruit training as I was pretty high up in my state. I did continue to do another 22 years in service, and yes, I regretted discharging. I love your enthusiasm, and best wishes for your career
I trained at Pirbright in a different era, but the hills there never change, Seven sisters, Hearbreak hill, Concrete hill, Sandhill, i admire you for sticking it out and coming through it. i listened to most of your Army related videos and i can understand why they said maybe consider becoming an Officer. in my opinion you would make a great Officer, your organisational skills seem exceptional. i was not an Commissioned officer but i can see a Potential one when i see it. you have the right mindset. i was in the Coldstream Guards for 15 years and loved it. i wish you all the best and ill follow your journey.

In the old days of the Territorial Army it was selection weekend If you were a guy Recruit Selection Weekend, 3 miles run in 27 minutes, intelligence test, Assault Course, introduction, Drll Lesson, and Weapon Lesson, to see if you were trainable. If successful ,12 evenings (1 a week) 3 weekends ( 1 a month) then 15 days at Depot. After that Trade Training.
Don't worry about anything, joined the TA in '94 (Combat Infantrymans Course), did a camp with TA Signals in Germany. Left TA and joined the regulars in '96. Left regulars in 2012 (redundancy) and rejoined in 2014 in the reserves (Infantry), now still in reserves RLC ...
Interesting hearing your Army journey from the beginning to passing out. 👍🏻 🇬🇧 💂♀️. Things have changed some from when I was in the TA in 1992, and the regs in 2000 at ATR Winchester. I preferred the TA to the regs, it suited me more and it was kinder to me. The Regs were brutal during basic training I was joining the AGC, our platoon commander was from the ranks a lieutenant Watkinson aged 28. He wasn't a good officer, loved punishing us, made fun of us, put us down most of the time. He had his military police NCO'S as section commanders one was 6ft 8 inches tall a corporal who loved beating us. My experience of the regs is very negative where as the TA was very positive, I did recruit selection weekends and Drill nights. I had a great time in the TA. I was in the Royal Artillery went on a gun weekend on Salisbury Plain firing at dummy tanks with artillery shells 105 mm guns. My weakness drill, SA80 weapon handling. Strengths I was good a PT, NBC training, OK at ironing kit. Map reading no. The regs put me off the Army. I got an ankle injury during week 7 of basic training that ended it for me football injury tendons. It healed, now I do bushcraft, use the ex Army kit still. And I walk, in a walking group. Have good memories of the TA.👍🏻 I belive an officer should lead by example and be someone to look upto. The kit of the Army has changed from DPM to MTP. But has the brutally changed, you tell me? Institutions take ages to change. Society changes alot faster and moves with the times. Some if the Army is outdated Have Queens regulations changed or stayed the same from years ago? The Army has shrunk in size, the kits changed, has anything else changed as I'm out of it now? Seems your doing well and could go far in a military career.👍🏻 🇬🇧 💂♀️ 🙂

If you think that’s brutal, you should try being a Rifleman in The Royal Green Jackets (The RIFLES) or a tom in the Paras or a bootneck.
@@distantplaces6560 OK we need the toughest. From 70 recruits, 7 will make it through a paras training course. The best of the best. I had too much compassion at the time 21 years ago. I didn't believe in punishing my own men for no reason. I had a brain, I wasn't a robot. Yes the Army only wants, the toughest, the strongest, that's what wins wars. But no one likes to be weak in front of others. As it looks bad on the person and the Army. To me weakness is strength as it takes courage to appear weak, and carry on through the weakness I face. As I am exposed, vulnerable, have no armour, and no weapons, I am defenceless that takes guts to do, to be different from everyone else. The only changes the Army has made is the uniform, the weapons and personnel who come and go. Nothing else, everything else is the same still from 50 years ago. Timeless.
Sounds like you had fun. Just immerse yourself 100% and enjoy every moment. You will make some life long friends. I joined the US Navy to beat the Vietnam era draft and then volunteered to go there. I thought I would do my 4 years and get out. They offered me a commission and I retired with 22 years of service. I spent my entire career in the cryptologic operations field. Loved every day. Hope your journey is as fruitful and enjoyable.

People refused to run?! What did they think they signed up for. No one was like that on any of my courses. I loved the PT, I just felt there wasnt enough. Seems different at Cardiff, for mod 2 out of 34-38 only 1 didnt finish and mod 3 same numbers only 1 didnt finish
Hi Chelsie, informative and spot on video! Is there swimming on MOD 2 or 3? I am about to head off on MOD 1 and no mention of swim suit or anything for kit?
Focus on your fitness and BMI for your height and weight. What you should be for your height and weight. Next, research the part you are joining, the job you want to do. Watch the kit presentation videos on TH-cam for inspections. Learn about the kit, ironing it etc. Learn first aid, navigation, map reading, if you require some of these. P t physical exercising or you should know from your experience that you were going to eight and pains and join 8 and muscle ache for your first week because you can't physically continue on with the same rotation or the same principle of disco exercise you have to have your body to repair it in other words if you're doing physical exercises your body only to explain a certain amount you have to have a rest sleep to warranty 3 days tattooed it's repairing it your body repairs so that means if you're doing a muscle workout and your body is feeling the pain you cannot continue on with the same exercise because what it is causing more pain than usual to your body must prepare by resting which proving that your body structure building up
A wouldn’t even put a video up if a done reserves basic training I remember when I went to basic training there was 1 person already in the reserves and he left straight away because couldn’t handle actual basic training reserves training is piss.

age 26 and still unemployed. unfortunately i wasn't fed with a silver spoon and i've been disadvantaged my whole life, to the point i regret coming out to my parents friends and perspective work people, im isolated also alone but thats cool, im just plodding along through it, and i was told socity is accepting of gay people, thats not my experience

Glad to hear about the TABs, I do 10km with 27kg in 1:15 (so 7:30 per km). Think I've also over prepared lol

I'm an infanteer. This is the basic training that all reservists do, regardless of role.
