    I still own a 91 NX2000, it's black with t-tops and completely stock. Well, almost... there is an SR20DET hiding under the hood. Great little commuter car.

      I bought the NX2k at dealer close out for 13k in '93, that's just about $22.5k with inflation adjustment today. While Nissan doesn't make any car that comes close to the NX2k, I would argue the Honda Fit with manual transmission isn't too far away, which retails at $18k with everything except leather and nav.

    • @DrewLSsix
      @DrewLSsix 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      oldtwins na. Coupes in general are not much of a commodity rhese days so if you expand out to 4 and five doors like the Fit you find quite a few cars in the price range that run with the NX.
      You can pick up a new turbo civic for a bit less than your adjusted msrp! Fiesta st and vw tsi are within a grand and theres plenty more between that and a 25k cap.

    • @justsumguy2u
      @justsumguy2u 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      But the Fit is one of the dorkiest-looking cars ever made. If I saw that out in my driveway, I'd have to kick my own ass.

    Had one from new to 240k miles. Only problem I ever had was the a/c compressor which routinely crapped out. Mods were headers, true cold air intake, high flow cat, and short shifter. The stock seats were inferior to the SE-R's so I actually bought used SE-R seats and installed them as they were bolt-ins. So much better. The greatest thing I liked was the hatchback style as the vehicle was an important cargo hauler for me; I even completely removed the back seat so had this enormous cavity that swallowed up a lot of stuff. Lifetime actual MPG was 34 before 10% ethanol mandated fuel and 32 after. It was not particularly fast off the line as wheelspin was hard to control and you'd bog down starting too low, more of a rolling quick car, it had a really swift 50-90mph sprint for its class and time. 5th gear was short enough that you'd rarely need to shift out for passing power. Mine did not have the t-tops as it was a dealership closeout special back in '92. Overall, a great car that I will always remember.

    Still driving one.
    Driven it for 15 years.
    I've had to replace all the perishable rubber stuff.
    This is the best handling car I've ever driven. It sticks to the road like hot bitumen.
    It doesn't go fast. It doesn't take off the line.
    It doesn't even stop that well.
    But I've never, never EVER been overtaken on a curvy road.
    Modern cars twice as powerful can't keep up. They're too heavy. They just can't take the turns.

    I bought a new 1992 Nissan NX-2000 back in 1993. It was red with the T tops. I added an aftermarket cruise control. At the time, this car was written as being one of the top 10 handling cars in the world and would pull almost 1G on the skid pad. It would quickly rev to the 8500 rpm redline. A super fun and reliable car to own.

    I bought an NX for $800 in 2010 because I was so ridiculously obsessed with the T Tops, and the digital dash. It was like nightrider driving that thing around. Australia considered it the most unsafe car at the time. I transported a Christmas tree the one year using the driver seat and open top. It could literally drive up over snow. People with trucks and SUVs in the area could never get out of their spots but this thing could! I had it shipped to Cali a year later, then drove it back across country to Philly when I moved again. It died in 2012 with something like 300,000 miles. I STILL miss this thing and hope that Nissan can bring something like it back. Can't seem to find them second hand anymore.

      @@twoeightythreez no, the nx2k was slightly heavier, about 50lbs or so over the se-r, manual vs manual. You might be thinking about the nx1600 vs se-r. while the nx had a shorter length, the rear hatch was super heavy which nullified the weight savings. avoid the C&D report where it got that 6.9 second 0-60 as in all the years i spent on email lists back in the day, nobody was ever able to reproduce that figure on a stock configuration.

    We had these in the UK. They were based off of the Nissan Sunny N14, which is similar to the Sentra B13. They are rather affordable here. I'm not sure about the Gearbox being 'rubbery', my N14 has a nice gearbox!

    More impressive than the 240 sx I used to own, especially in the 0-60 department.

      @RoadCone411 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PGTMR2 I completely agree....MX-3, followed by NX2000. You can keep the rest, although the Isuzu Impulse (better than the Geo Storm that was based off it) had good handling and performance.

    I’m currently getting a neglected 1992 NX2000 back on the road again, while my SE-R is out of commission (bad fuel injector was installed and made the timing chain skip, super shitty). Might sell it if/when my Sentra is up again, might not. These are confusing times, but the car makes me happy at least.

    I went with a 92 VW GTI 16v. It had better looks, more space, a timeless pedigree. I liked the SE-R, useful back seat.. but the GTI was more versatile and had beautiful BBS wheels and Recaro seats.
