    Thanks for the review Jimbo! That’s awesome that Kast King is trying to establish itself in the BFS scene. I really admire their designs and aesthetics they apply to their products. I would consider this rod except for one detail that will keep me from picking it up. And that would be the fact that it only has 8 eyes. At it’s length a BFS rod should at least have 10 eyes. I’d prefer 11 on the 6’ range. I might consider 8 eyes on a 4’ range but even then that’s kind of pushing it for me. I like my line to not rub or come in contact with the rod when bending. And the rods with fewer eyes not only rub when bending, but the line will surpass the rod too. I feel this is an aspect that is being over looked by most companies that make BFS rods. I mean it’s expected from the cheap rods. And I have seen a few rods out there that have eyes that spiral to the bottom side of the rod. There cool but I’ve only seen two so far that I can think of... What are your thoughts Jimbo? Or even any one elses. I’m open to feedback on the topic.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey bud! this isn't really a review yet. Just a first impression, so i'll take it out a few more trips and likely do a wrap up video so that people don't have to watch my test videos. I want to cast more lures, different reels, different line and probably would like to cast while I am walking the banks so I can get a better understanding of casting distance and accuracy. In addition, I am waiting for that line counter to come in, which haven't gotten to my door yet since I ordered it from Aliexpress due to the virus...
      In regards to the line guides, I don't think it will be a problem. I know some folks have expressed their thoughts about it. But I can always suggest back to KastKing and see if they would consider something, for future rods, especially when I am going to be asking for a 2.1M rod :P
      Spiral guides would be neat to see in BFS setup too. Kastking just released their first one for one of their Pro's, Cliff Crochet Bass Angler. It's a spread of rods from MH through Mag Heavy, hoping the reception is good so that they would consider the lighter side of things too! Which is exciting. I think i should get the rod, play with it and then do a review. They love the feed back that i send them and they actually read the comments from my videos! In fact, they will be reading this comment :P so feel free to drop any more requests!

      raWr Fishing Right on brutha. That’s cool that Kast King is working with you. A 2M rod would be nice. Yeah definitely mention a high guide count on that bad boy. It would be cool to see a smaller short handle stream rod from them too! lol Having a BFS line of rods would gain them some popularity for sure... I recently ordered the Tsurinoya Pro Flex II C632UL it has 11 guides on it in the photo. So that may become my new long casting rod. I currently have a Volkey BFS rod VKC-652UL/BFS that I bought like 5 years ago. It was my first and only JDM BFS rod. I couldn’t hang with them JDM price ranges.😅 It has 10 guides and it’s a stiff, fast action, and does have some line rub when bending. I still love it tho! We’ve caught lots of fish together. I guess i’m really just hoping the Finesse scene gets finesse on the details of the products that are being put out.

      Bro, I'm gonna yap a bit so bear with me. 1st off, great review! I watched it till the end and then went and took my Tsurinoya XF 50 reel off my Shakespeare 4.5' Microcast rod and put it on my new KastKing Max Steel rod. I put the UL tip on it. It's like they were meant to be together, like a high end combo. Colors match up perfect. It looks sweet as anything. I love the action of it. Seems kind of moderate fast, which is what I was looking for for throwing small cranks and inline spinners. I like a little play in the rod so the trebles dont pull out too soon. Everything seems super well balanced. So happy with the setup and very happy you pointed me in the right direction with matching this rod to my XF 50. Thanks a bunch! I was looking at finesse style fishing with baitcasters years ago (maybe 10 or more) but all they had at the time were high end and expensive setups like the Daiwa Pixie. So glad they have created a supply for BFS in the States that is affordable. Still not perfect but getting there. Plan to use this rod for finesse bass fishing, trout fishing and panfish fishing. I'm actually hitting a small creek tomorrow for browns and brooks and this rod/reel will be coming with me. Water temps in Upstate NY are still pretty chilly so fishing might be slow but I'm super stoked to try this new rod out! Thanks again man. I really appreciate the input you gave me and the time you and others take to produce quality content and reviews. 👍👍

    • @rawrfishing

      glad you like it! i feel that it is more a fast tip rod than moderate. I will have to do a side by side bend w/ the Dexterity rod. but you might be right... If they had more photos and details about the 2 piece rod and also about the tip and the connection part, then it's something I could have considered. I saw it on Aliexpress for like 76 dollars. Rosewood got some rods that length and longer cheaper at that time so I went with the 210 CM UL Casting from them.

  • @gizmocarr3093
    @gizmocarr3093 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks like a nice choice for ultralight lures. Does rod price include a rod sock? The heavier tip might work fine for casting three-gram lures too. Take good care of that reel it is one of a kind and there is few like yours.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it sure is a pretty looking rod! yes, the rod sock holds all 3 pieces and can be tied to keep it together. it's the typical ones you seen normally on Aliexpress. I may do an actual review of the rods and probably show case it there, the bag of rods, came in a tube, that was in a box, not breaking! Yes i'll try to take care of the reel. Too bad they didn't finish the paint with a good clear coat since it was just for testing. the colors already started to change. i should have clear coated it myself lol. maybe i should... hmmmm. Most rods Are designed via the ferrule spigot style for multiple pieces now. They do not look like the old style where it gets covered all the way when fully inserted. It will show as partially expose, so don't shove too hard or it will break.
      Not sure what KK is doing with their Asia side of things. They are very spontaneous. For instance, they have KESTREL BFS rods, but not selling em... Other companies are selling em instead.

      It appears they just released their First bfs reel in china. but so far it's only appeared on Shoppee, Brazilian like Amazon/aliexpress store. Hope to see it on Aliexpress/amazon soon! It's called Zephyr, just like their BFS rod

  • @evan4856
    @evan4856 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What does bfs mean?

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BFS stands for Bait Finesse System - It's how the Japanese categorized rod/reels that allows you to cast light lures. So at the furthest end of the spectrum, UL Bait Casting setup to about perhaps L or ML side. The key to having a BFS reel is to have a spool that is light so it can spin as you cast light lures. To achieve that, they normally make it with light aluminum material, drill a ton of slots into it and also make it super shallow to hold less line. afterall, light lures don't go out far anyway, so you won't need to have a ton spooled on, so you can reduce weight there, also having a shallow spool allows the line to be spooled on at a bigger diameter, which means more line comes out per rotation for the initial cast, which doesn't hinder the lure from reaching it's maximum distance. that is what and how BFS work in a nutshell!
