- We saw what a lot of us presume as the start of the REVERSE LOVE SQUARE in Mr. Pigeon 72 BUT season 4 has not given us a lot of hints towards Marichat becoming a reality... but I believe there are hints that Adrienette could soon sail... maybe at the end of season 4? Let's discuss!

IS ADRIENETTE SOON TO BECOME A REALITY? It appears that Lukanette and Adrigami are OVER; setting up the season. Mr. Pigeon 72, many believe showed the start of a reverse love square where in hopes Marichat would become a reality...BUT I would say we have not seen much progression or hinting towards Marichat--except a small scene in Sentibubbler. Yes I believe Ladybug/Marinette is starting to realize feelings for Cat Noir as we analyze the show, BUT the show, I don't think, is hinting much at Ladynoir. We have seen though the show confirm Marinette is in love with Adrien AND Cat Noir starting to have doubts with Ladybug. Ladynoir is becoming weaker, while I would argue, Adrienette is becoming stronger. So with all things said, I think Adrienette is the ship most likely to happen soonest.

I think adrien likes Marinette but his love for ladybug is stronger. But you can see it optigami and so on in the series so far that he’s losing his love for ladybug so he might be starting to realize his love for Marinette and adrienette could sail.

Since Luka knows both Ladybug and Chatnoir's identities, I think Luka's gonna be like a matchmaker for them so Luka tries to make Marinette/Ladybug notice Chatnoir more resulting in Marinette/Ladybug develop a crush on Chatnoir. And Luka talks to Adrien to make him like Marinette and make him notice his crush on Marinette ending up to the Reverse Love Square. Just my theorie 💅

My theory:
Like how there is a reverse umbrella scene, there will be a reverse balcony scene . in the first one, marinette learns of chat noirs sensitive side (and I personally think she falls for him a bit). For the second one, I believe Adrien will see the confident side of marinette. I think it would be similar to the first where chat is feeling down because of ladybug, and as he's patrolling he sees/chats with marinette and she cheers him up (the first time he cheered her up) this sets the scene for adrienette, but also waters the marichat drought :')
Edit: glaciator 2 did something similar to this, chat went from feeling down to laughing with marinette, and going to the movies :D!! His reaction during her confession was interesting too (reminded me of ladybug getting kissed on the cheek by him)

My only fear is that when the reveal happens all those doubts (if this whole doubt thing hasn't ready been worked out by the time it happens) Adrien has about Ladybug will be shifted over to Marinette
I have the same fears. Honestly, if the reveal happens I think Marinette/LB needs to be the one to instigate it willingly. If they have to reveal because they’re forced to in battle, Mari would likely get frazzled. And if Marinette is upset about revealing when she wasn’t ready, Adrien may take that the wrong way and come to the resolution that not only does Ladybug not trust Chat Noir, Marinette doesn’t trust Adrien. If Chat tries to start the reveal, Marinette may still be upset. In any case, I think LB needs to work with Chat about those doubts before the reveal. Otherwise I might cry
yeah i get u but hopefully if the reveal is on marinette’s terms then she’ll have time to explain some of the things chat noir/ adrien is doubtful about- like in sentibubbler for example, it was ladybugs plan for rena to handle the situation yet chat noir wasn’t aware of their secret identity’s and felt offended she trusted rena over him when in reality marinette and alya are bestfriends so ofc she would trust her.

There is one reason why I think its more about Marichat because in wishmaker we see the ice cream for Marinette with pink scoop (for Marinette), red with black (for Ladybug) and on top green with black (for Cat Noir). It cannot be Adrien because in glaciator there were only 2 scoops, pink for herself and only green for Adrien. Maybe Marinette and Cat Noir get close because as we see in glaciator, when he was heart broken because of Ladybug, he went to talk to Marinette and again in sentibubbler knowing that Rena is Alya, he stopped and listened more to Marinette. Maybe both as Adrien and as Cat Noir, he will get more close to Marinette, after all from his pov Ladybug is just leaving him in the dark so he needs someone to talk.

To be the fair, the ice cream could symbolise a clearer version of Adrien. Marinette's colours differed from her self love icream she got in Miracle Queen as well. In Wishmaker, Adrien and Marinette's character arc was about getting more clarity about themselves and in their life. And just like how Marinette's ice cream colours were about both her civilian self and Ladybug. The same could apply for Chat Noir. Adrien IS Chat Noir after all.
The reason I want more marichat moments is that even though Marinette believes she is in love with adrien she cannot truly love him if she is not willing to except his flaws and chat noir is basically a representation of adrien’s flaws. Her learning to love chat noir would mean that she love everything about adrien including his flaws. I think that confronting Marinette as chat noir would allow adrien to know more about Marinette and allow him to accept of discover his feelings for her, since I think that when Marinette and chat noir are together they can have proper conversations and really get to know each other. I also think that marichat can be used as a stepping stone to finally make adrienette a real couple.
I do agree that Marichat would be a much better step into Adianette. However I would not agree that Chat Noir shows Adrian's flaw is it is more representative of who Adrian really want to be. Adrian acts how everyone wants him to act, but Chat Noir acts how he wants to act.now he does get a little impulsive at times, but would not say everything about Chat is a flaw.
I loved actually seeing Marinette's reaction before Adrien explained what it was. She was like *shock* "Oh..." In Befana. Gamer was a good episode too

What if:
Chat Noir finds out that Ladybug shared her identity with Rena Rouge, so he is at first a little angry. Than he gives up on Ladybug for a while and notices Marinette in a different way than “just a friend” so they start going out. Marinette is trilled until- Adrian reveals that he is Chat Noir. (“After all Ladybug can tell people, why not me?”) she gets angry at him and he has no idea why until she shouts: “You stupid cat! What did I tell you exactly not to do!”

I actually feel like to push Marichat they need to push Adrienette first and to make Ladynoir slowly fade. Maybe not disappear, but make it grow in a different direction. We know that for Marichat to happen Adrien needs to be more around her. He needs to notice more her qualities so he wants to be with her more often and eventually visits her as Chat Noir. I mean they could do it in another way, but that's how they're going now. Over the last 3 seasons they focused in making Ladynoir grow. Ladybug even blushed whe Chat Noir kissed her cheek. Thomas Astruc actually said that if it wasn't for Adrien, Marinette might actually give him a chance. Until now Marichat helped make Ladynoir grow, since it was Marinette's opinion that changed the most. They made clear that Marinette likes Chat Noir a little bit, but she's too focused on Adrien to notice. With Adrien on the other hand it's a different story. There were moments here and there, but never a specific time where the writers made you understand that Adrien might actually give Marinette a chance if it wasn't for Ladybug. Yes, he's awkward whenever their hands touch accidentally and he's really kind to her. But let's remember that Thomas said this is due to the fact that Adrien thinks Marinette is shy and has trouble socializing, that's why he's extra nice and careful with her. What I mean is that until season 4 their dynamic almost didn't change, while Ladynoir's already changed quite a lot.
I think now they're focusing on Adrien's opinion of Marinette. It makes sense. They first made Ladybug's view on Chat Noir change and now they're making Adrien's opinion on Marinette change. When they do that I feel like they're gonna make more Marichat episodes.
I also believe that over the past 3 seasons both Marinette and Adrien enjoyed more their time as superheroes, since for Adrien represented being free and for Marinette represented being confident and not clumsy. However, this season I feel like Marinette enjoys more being her civilian self, since she started being Guardian, things have been so stressful for her. She took risks she never thought she could take and because of being Ladybug and the Guardian, she had to break up with Luka and lie to her friends. So I feel like this is also another reason why they're focusing more on Marinette's civilian self, because now, things are easier for her being just Marinette.

Whenever I watched romance anime, there is ALWAYS an umbrella, rain episode. And a few episodes later, one of the main characters realize their feelings (unless they already liked each other)!!!! If that scene was inspired by Japanese culture, maybe he’ll realize his feelings earlier than we think? I may be wrong and this probably made no sense 🥲✌️✨ edit: Kagami is Japanese, and that episode was kind of surrounded Marinette trying to get Kagami and Adrien back together. Maybe that scene also wanted to symbolize some of Kagami’s culture into their love story?
Okay okay okay hear me out -- the idea of adrien acting awkward and clumsy towards marinette is possible but is very out of character, and so therefore I feel like it would be very interesting if adrien showed more of his flirtatious side that chat so commonly displays around ladybug. it would be so cool to see that, just an idea tho!
What if Season 4 focuses on Adrienette and it will sail in season 5 and since that Adrien is inlove with Marinette he will try to resist the urge to reveal his identity to Marinette since hes no longer inlove with ladybug and season 5 will focus in Marichat.

I think with Adrien's growing trust issues with LB him seeing Marinette in a new light is possible. He clearly wants to show his humorous side to her and he's very subtle about it. Do you have any ideas about red umbrella in Marinette's room? In Japan such one is used for wedding, in truth LB and Chat shared this one in battle. Maybe that means nothing, but I think it is some sign of reveal. Marinette holds small red umbrella in heart hunter in the kitchen. And in season 4 in the first episode big one is used in battle with Luka. Then Luke discoveres both identities.
From Google : The red umbrella is very symbolic of Japanese weddings. The color red in Japan means life and wards off evils and the umbrella itself keeps the bride dry if it happens to be raining. It's quite large and usually carried by man who follows the bride in a wedding procession.

Not only does the lucky charm being in the episode lies mean that perhaps Marinette isn’t ‘just a friend’, it’s also really interesting because if you think about it, the lucky charm is what broke Adrian and Kagami up in the first place. It’s almost like the lucky charm is working in Marinette’s favour and helping her get closer to Adrian (I know that seems ridiculous but it’s just metaphorical 😅)

I must say I do see character development in Marinette she used to be my favorite character now my favorite is Adrien the two main reasons why I didn’t like her was 1 in the early seasons she was a full blown stalker and borderline obsessive when it came to Adrien I mean stealing his phone following him around knowing his schedule breaking into his house laying in his bed smelling his pillow 😳 yeah… she was obsessed that’s not normal we don’t want young girls thinking that’s OK! because they see Marinette as a role model I mean she’s the main character… the only thing I can excuse are all the pictures of him in her room because that’s typical thing teenage girls do. So reason 2 why I didn’t like her was because she never got consequences for her actions she always got rewarded for them you need to get consequences to learn from your mistakes so you never do them again and the fact she’s not getting consequences that will make children think that their won’t be consequences for their actions and doing something that is wrong. Marinette has had character development she has matured after becoming guardian she’s not as obsessive and stalker like with Adrien anymore it’s died down not completely gone but it’s a start same can go with her getting consequences for actions she certainly going to start getting consequences for not being honest with Cat Noir I know that for a fact. All that aside because of the Ladybug not being truthful with Cat Noir he starting to have doubts about her and starting to see her in a different light all the while Marinette is starting to change she is starting to be more confident around Adrian it’s pretty clear he likes confidence as a trait in person. I don’t want to jinx it but people not once in season 4 have we heard Adrien say *she’s just a friend* which is further making me believe he starting to fall for Marinette even more and Ladybug is falling out of favor with him this the love square is flipping!

Surprised no one's thinking about this. If and when Adrien knows who LB is, won't that damage Adrinette? True, Marinette is more confident around Adrien and he's starting to see her in a different light, but Cat's been hurt by LB in more ways than one. Just think what will go through his mind when she tells him. When the time comes they know the other one is, I want Marinette to go the extra mile to make up for the pain Adrien's gone through, unless Adrien understands why she did everything she had to against Gabriel/Shadow Moth. I know she can do it, after all, she's Super Marinette. What do think will happen first? Adrien and Marinette say who they are or the ship finally sails?

If the couple Adrien/Marinette finally happen, that'll be great, however my theory is that it won't last if they eventually get to know their secret identities. Even if it's not shown a lot, Marinette has seen Chat blanc in a nightmare, showing that it's an event that frightened her quite a bit, so if they know their identies at some point it will be a problem, and Marinette will remember Chat blanc....

In glaciator 2.0 you saw cat noirs face when mari was practicing confessing her love to Adrien on him. *chef kisses*Can you imagine when Adrien starts to admit he loves Mari that he’ll probably try to get closer to her by being cat noir and visiting her because maybe he feels like he needs to show marinette his true self and hopes she’ll fall in love with cat noir.

I'm hoping episode 100 is going to be Marinette confessing her feelings to Adrien, making Adrienette come to fruition. However, season 4 has been insane so far, and it's only going to get more crazy! Episode 100 is going to be wild.
Also optygami we saw Kagami protect Adrien so they probably are at least on equal terms. Especially with off screen fencing and such.
