I put the exact same product down in my 3 car garage 9 years ago and it's still holding up fine....a couple of spots are troublesome, but not that big of a deal. The biggest cause of wear and tear actually comes from hot car and truck tires parking on it, which can (and has) caused some lift off...no biggie, some day I'll get around to redoing it. The biggest lesson I learned is 1) the 2 gallon kits are actually a slightly lighter shade of grey than the 1 gallon kits. 2) the two inches of paint that extends past my garage doors is getting sun faded....again, no big deal after 9 years.
I always wondered how it would hold up with jacks and jack stands / working on cars . Huge thanks for this review. Just purchased a new build , going to give it a shot .
What’s funny is I found you when I was looking to do my garage floor but follow you for the S-10 which I also have! I love your video’s and I’m always waiting for new ones.
I had someone put the rustoleum epoxy with the flakes and seal on my garage floor. He did not do the flakes correctly. Mylocal paint specialist advised us to get more flakes and put rustoleum clear shield down and sprinkle the flakes into it and wait sufficient time to dry. Is this ok?
Not sure if the price has gone up lately but the cheapest I've seen for 2.5 car kits lately is $250, now about $282. HomeDepot etc. charging a LOT more than this too if you just walk into the store.
New sub here. We just poured our foundation and I’m researching floor finish options now. I have a 1200 sq ft garage. Thanks for taking the time to document your experience. G
Good info on this product!! Getting ready put it down in my garage in about ten minutes, just doing a last min product install video so I dont miss any good tips!! Appreciate you my man!👊🏻
Yo! Good name😁I’m Robby too! I love your S10. I had an 84 long bed as my first vehicle. Thanks for the good info on the floor and your 6 month follow up. I just subbed to check out your S10!!
I watched your first video before doing mine (thanks for posting) and I couldn’t agree more with all your observations and your review. Mine came out great. I ordered an extra kit when I bought mine so I was sure to have same color batch (I ordered from Home Depot and they shipped directly from Rustoleum). I returned the extra kit to store once I was done. Definitely need at least twice the amount. I used two 2.5 car garage floor kits to cover my 800 sf garage. I also would have added the anti slip additive if I did it again (it’s slippery when wet and I live in the northeast so snow melting off the cars makes the garage slippery). The prep is key to great results as you stated so don’t skimp on the effort up front.
i bought the 2.5 car garage kit which claims to cover 450-500 sq. ft. - do you think this will be fine for a 247-ish square foot area, or should i buy an extra 1 car kit before starting?
i saw in another video that you can add an additive not sure if its come type of sand for grip texture . probably would have been a good idea. I'm not sure if that's still possible. i would help aso for oil stain. thanks for the update.. Oh screw the negative comment . everyone is a pro. that never did it.
I see your video wen you first started doing your garage floor. It looks good and that stuff you are using is really durable. And easy too maintain . And I like too see you working on your s10 again, you been having ups and downs with that truck , If it's not one thing it's another brother.
Did my 2.5 car garage last week. I had to grind the floor because I had used a sealant on it in the past. I used "3" two and a half car garage kits. No way I could have gotten by with two kits. I would recommend the same for anyone that has to grind the floor.
I agree with your end comment, I did mine and it's hard to tell when its really really dirty. I'm curious if I could power wash it with my surface cleaner.
Whats up man awesome video, I was wanting to put the clear coat Rocksolid on top however when I saw it was more expensive than the actual base coating I do not want to do it, kind of a three way question but my floor is a raw concrete, I am going to diamond grind it but do you think I need it is necessary to put primer and the top clear coating on after if I use the rocksolid product? Thank you
Thanks for a great video, my only concern is using any product from Rustoleum with the Rock Solid Name attached. I used Rock Solid Deck Product spending thousands doing everything by the book only to incur total failure like everyone else that used this ROCK SOLID DECK product.
Thanks for posting this Robby. Looks like some exposed concrete under your hand at about time 8:54. Am I seeing this correctly? Also, could you give a 2 year update?
Do you drive in and out of the garage often? We are in and out of ours multiple times a day and am worried about how it holds up on frequent hot tires. Also, you said you used 2.5 kits. How many square feet is your garage and we’re you using the 2.5 car garage kits? They sell in 1 car size and 2.5 car size. Last, it looks like you cut it to the line where the door comes down instead of going to the expansion joint of the concrete, just past where your garage door closes. I was thinking of pouring extra polycuramine into that joint as I saw another video recommend that to lessen the chance of it peeling up at that ‘seam’.
I don’t drive in and out a lot. My race truck mostly just sits in the garage for storage. Occasionally I drive it and park in the garage and haven’t any any problems. My garage is around 525 sq ft and I was using the 2.5 car kits. I stopped inside the garage door to prevent the door seal from sticking to the product during curing time and because anything exposed to sun will discolor over time.
Question. I put on rock solid 4 months ago and following the box directions. Now when my wife drives her car in, her tires slip. I don’t remember reading anywhere in directions saying to add anti-slip. Now it’s too late because it Rust Oleum says to do it within 3 days.
How did you mix the 2 parts? I saw another video that complained there were areas that didn't cure and was left tacky after 48hrs. Likely the product was not mixed properly. Just wondering what you did. Mix in the bag? Mix 2 parts in a container?
I have a nice 3 year old concrete driveway. How careful do I have to be with all the prep chemicals washing out onto it. In other words, how quickly do I need to propel them off the driveway before they mark it, and then will they damage the grass to the sides?
I used the epoxyshield 2 days ago, followed the directions step by step and the floor is still tacky. So now I will probably have to scrape 900 sq ft off...
Thanks for the great review. One question I had - how does it hold up against the sun shining in when the garage door is up? Worried about my garage since it faces east and I like to have the door open during the day. Thanks in advance
When I watch the video, it seems like the riser of the elevated section of your floor is a different color. Is that right? Or is that just me seeing it wrong?
@@RobbyVsGarage Got it. Thanks. Did you sprinkle the flakes on that riser section as well? Or did you just paint the epoxy on there and leave it alone? And how did the epoxy hold up on a vertical surface like that?

on mine

Great video helped me a lot with my research in picking a garage floor covering. Thanks!
These two videos were awesome. You’ve given me confidence to do this. Thanks!
That was my goal! Thanks for watching

Thanks for the update video, found your channel through the first DIY Rustoleum video. About to do my garage soon awesome info man.

Just prepped the floor this morning in my 30x30 barn , cant wait to paint the floor tomorrow!
how many kits do you used for that size barn? I have the same size shop and I'm curious how many I will need.

Its always something 🙄
How was it that you made it too thick?.. you painted and waited for it to dry and repainted?
thanks man i’m in the process of doing mine right now and have been worried as to whether or not all this work is worth it
I’ve got a pretty good size garage myself. Thinking about going black
I heard, once mixed, put half in a fridge, which extends your workable time.
Best honest review so far, answered all my questions. I just made a 20x30 garage and need a floor sealer. Definitely looks good.
Juan I'm disappointed
@@jefferyjones7765 why, is it the product is not for you or is it something else. Always good to know others honest opinions.
still holding up? you answered all my questions since im always working on my race car

Great review. Honest and to the point. Nice job!
This helped my decision. Getting ready to lay tonight. It's been prepped for a week just couldn't decide
Great content! Just curious on how it holds up with welding over it?

Would you recommend mixing all the pouches from both kits combined together in a bucket before applying, so all the color matches?
Yes if possible. I had to do it separately so I could move everything to one side
@@RobbyVsGarage that’s what I’ll be doing then - I appreciate it

They make a clear coat with anti slip additive you could put down over your epoxy.
Did you use the traction additive? If not, do you think you should have? If so, any issues cleaning with it?
I did not use it and I haven’t really wished I had yet. It can get slippery though but I haven’t had too many issues caused by it.
How did you mix the 2 parts? I saw another video that complained there were areas that didn't cure and was left tacky after 48hrs. Likely the product was not mixed properly. Just wondering what you did. Mix in the bag? Mix 2 parts in a container?
My original video shows me applying the coating. I mixed it in the bag as the directions call for.
@@RobbyVsGarage Thanks and great video.
Did you use the rollers that came in the kits? I’ve seen some videos saying they aren’t very good and I was curious if I should use something else.
Yeah I used the kit rollers
i got a 1 car garage you .. and probably don’t wanna buy a 2and half kit what you think
I have a nice 3 year old concrete driveway. How careful do I have to be with all the prep chemicals washing out onto it. In other words, how quickly do I need to propel them off the driveway before they mark it, and then will they damage the grass to the sides?
I’m not an expert but I would suggest wetting it first and rinse it off quickly. I didn’t notice any marking on my driveway
Nice job. Did you ever get any tire lift off?
None
I used the epoxyshield 2 days ago, followed the directions step by step and the floor is still tacky. So now I will probably have to scrape 900 sq ft off...
I want to do this but use glitter instead of the color flake. Any advice as to how to do that effectively?
Thanks for the great review. One question I had - how does it hold up against the sun shining in when the garage door is up? Worried about my garage since it faces east and I like to have the door open during the day. Thanks in advance
I have read that direct sun light will discolor the coating. My door isn’t open enough to have affected it yet.
My grey diy garage floor is now a ugly yellow color due to sun and age. Getting professionally epoxy now.
What kind of cabinets are those?
NewAge
how is it holding up as of Jan 2022?
No problems other than small burns from welding
How many square feet is your garage?
How does it look now, it's been over a year 😊
Did you apply with roller?
Does the anti slip come with the kit? If not what do you recommend ?
It’s sold separately and I can not recommend any because I didn’t use it.
Looks great!
When I watch the video, it seems like the riser of the elevated section of your floor is a different color. Is that right? Or is that just me seeing it wrong?
Same color just different angle maybe
@@RobbyVsGarage Got it. Thanks. Did you sprinkle the flakes on that riser section as well? Or did you just paint the epoxy on there and leave it alone? And how did the epoxy hold up on a vertical surface like that?
I sprinkled flakes as well and it’s been fine. I just brushed it on the vertical part.
Great video. How did you decide to go with Polycuramine over epoxy?
I didn't. I thought it was all the same when I bought it haha
Question #8 Is it slippery to walk on with say wet shoes or wet feet etc.
Yes, it can be slippery. There is a traction additive available
@@RobbyVsGarage Thanks I have purchased some of the anti slip
I have to ask what cabinet set up with rolling tool boxes is that I’m the back ground ? Pretty sweet

It was from Lowe’s
14 minutes of him telling us about it, zero minutes of him actually doing it

I don’t recommend that stuff
Annoying music, doesn't contribute anything.
