I think you are right about the "30 years from now" thing. Anytime anyone has ever in person seen a "piece of history" there is a feeling you get in that moment. I think people are concerned about drama right now. In 30 years, when everyone looks at that hammer they will not talk about the drama, but what it represents.
10 years later, the hammer will be completely fotgotten while Morozov will lose it during the building a new toilette. That´s how much it is "important" for easy europe athlete. lol nobody cares. And because there will be no left handed champ from west europe..... bye bye legacy hammer.

I've always loved the idea of the Legacy Hammer and basically agree with everything you said, other than I don't think we should go back in the past adding names because it then blurs the line of when Legacy started and if I'm not mistaken John is already on there. Plus Michael and Marcio for Right. Left handed Travis doesn't care and already has 4 left hammers.
I think it should always stay a hammer. Its a good icon. Hammers are the tool used in fire to forge the strongest weapons. ❤️
I posted something like this on Engin's "Hammer Subject" video but somehow I couldn't find it. So here it goes again: As tangible as the hammer/gaunlet legacy is, it doesn't serve the sport much. Gamification reward system is more interesting to be implemented, whereby level-up points can be collected and redeemed to even out the playing field @ handicap, especially for the open category.

I really like the idea of the hammer staying with the person that won it from when they won it, and if or when they are beaten another hammer should be made to be given to the new winner, much like the lineal boxing champion.

I think changes doesn’t mean replacing the item with something else. The base has to be the hammer but it can be modified if I’m not mistaken (I don’t know anything just my interpretation)

Put the old champions names on it with an Asterix * next to there name. Because they didn’t actually have it .
Then do a super match with the current top two guys , the winner gets it , and starts what Devon intended for the original .

At some point the hammers will not fit all of the names so it would need to be changed for something else, like a plaque or something. With a plaque you can write on both sides of it as well if needed.
you can have names wrapping around the handle down in a row, which means it would take a very long time for this to get full and then u can just make it a bit bigger
Ok, two things. I like the Idea. Two things. 1. Devon should be clear about the rules(did less drug)2. Remove WAL inscription. I hope things will be cleared behind the doors and the Hammer will be in the strongest hand.
You don't need to remove the logo, the league is dead, and having the logo of a long dead league on a legacy item is actually a really cool symbolism.

The Legacy Hammer is important because it supersedes any organization. We've seen many of them come and go over time, although I would like the East vs. West and King of The Table Promotions to last. It shows who is the current best, giving responsibility to the holder to seek out the best. I think that is a noble pursuit, no matter what else happens. The names should be on there forever if we trust and do it right. When Dennis returns the hammer, I trust he will have put his name on it.
WAL needs to come off, and the word Legacy put on. This much time since WAL folded, means a WAL title holds less and less 'value'. But this will always hold value.
Denis won't put his name on it. He doesn't play these silly games

A legacy hammer is a brilliant idea and something that would be a great honor for any arm wrestler to hold for some period of time until they can no longer defend it.

I like the idea that it’s passed back and forward like the Calcutta Cup but I think a lot of these sentiments from Devon were expressed after he gave it to Denis, not before.
Also it seems like the “rules” should have been written down beforehand. For example if Denis dies whilst holding it, then what happens? Do they just make up that rule at the time?
There’s also the issue that the hammer is from WAL which doesn’t sit well with current promotions. Best option is just make a new trophy and lay down the rules for it in advance.

I really think the WAL should be removed from the hammer. Keep it agnostic since things will change except all the names of the champions and whatnot :) Or simply create a new one and start anew now. I do think though, every chamption should get a Hammer to keep forever, and there should also be a Legacy hammer. Like the UFC for example, they each get one to keep, they dont actually pass the belt.. But I would like to see the hammer passed around, and also each champion get a replica with the names currently on the Legacy at the time it is won

Put it simple - denis and his friends need to learn some basic English and translate the letter (after all these years) to the language that denis understands (oh wait, elementary russian?)

I think the legacy hammer is an awesome idea and i dont know why people wont get on board. Engin doesn't like it because it didnt come from his organization. I like engin and appreciate what hes done but man he hates on every other organization and any idea that is not his own.

This whole video is biased. The idea of the Legacy Hammer (or any memento) is sentimental value. Why, in this purely emotional conversation, the most emotional factor not brought up? Ray said "There's a lot of back and forth" as if there isn't 1 extremely loud bully. The reason this conversation exists is the anger of one man with a fanbase.
Morozov, Laletin, Terzi do not give a F about hammer ... Alizhan probably as well. Bagent says it is not a SHW left hand hammer and Bagent humiliates this hammer as well. It was wrong mistake from the start that Larratt sent it without contract ... Whole this situation is ridiculous and Devon is a soft cry baby.

There's also a clause that if you retire, you don't keep the hammer you pass it on. The hammer needs to be continuously in motion. If you get injured and you're out for a year, you should also pass the hammer on. The way you would any other title
There’s literally nothing in writing anywhere in which to insert a clause. When you say “clause” I assume you mean “Devon said”. (Which I agree with by the way)
If Morozov’s left was healthy and Devon didn’t have to be 105kg for the Petrenko match, it would be good to see Devon vs Morozov on left arm at EvW15 added. You couldn’t ask for a better buildup.
Devon didn't train his left with weights or 6 years and just after Levan he starting training his left, so it's too soon. It would be 99% Morozov would win.

I’ll put here in the comments the message I wrote to Engin about his gauntlet idea and this hammer topic. You guys let me know what you think about it 💪
Hi Engin, as a huge armwrestling fan I would like to share my opinion on this gauntlet. I like it very much and it's not a bad idea in a strict sense, but you should be very aware of the risks that it brings to the future of the sport. The problem is that it is strictly bound to the east vs west brand, and it could not possibly be "re-utilized" for the future champions. It is exactly a copy of the so controversial WAL Hammer, just with another brand written on it. What if in the future East vs West ceases to exist? Obviously I hope it's never the case, but what if? East vs West already has the champions' belts with the logo on. Is it really necessary to add another trophy? I know you don't like the WAL Hammer because it's bound to an old armwrestling league such as WAL, and it represents it, but creating a new trophy the concept of LEGACY will be lost. I think that league-specific trophies like EvW belts and WAF medals are alright, but the most important trophy for the very strongest armwrestler in the world should not be linked to any league. It should be brand-less. Maybe we can just remove the WAL logo off the hammer. Or maybe you can still make this beautiful gauntlet but without the East vs West logo on it. I know it must be difficult for you, because you love armwrestling and you love East vs West. You are so proud of this organization and you should be, you have all the rights. You created it from zero and helped the sport of armwrestling grow a lot, and we all are very grateful to you for this. But now I shall be very clear: *East vs West IS NOT armwrestling!* Maybe it is in this historical moment, but we can’t know if it will still be in the future. What if in 200 years from now another league with another name is doing great things for the sport and they don’t want to use the East vs West gauntlet because of the brand? Just like you don’t want to use the WAL hammer. We should do this gift TO THE SPORT OF ARMWRESTLING IN GENERAL, and not only to the East vs West name. It is the WHOLE ARMWRESTLING SPORT that needs its own absolute trophy, not East vs West, that already has its belts. I like to think that in 200 or 300 years the armwrestlers of the future will still be fighting to obtain that so aspired legendary trophy, that will be full of the LEGACY idea. I think that this is what Devon was talking about. We don't want the WAL hammer, but we want A SINGLE ARMWRESTLING TROPHY, not bounded to any brand name, and eternal. World absolute strongests shall write their names on this trophy and the legacy will continue for so many years from now, regardless of the organization of the moment. I hope I explained well my opinion, and I would love to speak with you about it. Good luck for the amazing job you are already doing for the sake of this sport. The hammer is basically the Stanley cup of armwrestling. Current left hand champ should be holding it.
I think it should start anew, And be known formally as a trophy to be passed on, And each year to be professionally etched by record.
