    This whole collaboration project is one of the best I have seen on TH-cam. Fight Perfect is smart, witty and funny but also practical and honest. GNT is also really cool. You are both leading by example and learning from each other as martial artists should do.

    I have a friend who said once (if you want to be able to land a spinning kick, always try to be able to spin at least180° more than what you need for the kick... For example... Dont do a turning kick in a fight if you cant do a 360 in training... Dont do a 360 in a fight if you cant do a 540 in training, dont do a 540 if you cant do a 720, or a 720 if you cant do a 900, etc...
    I dont agree however... I think its not a fixed number... But the idea that you should be able to spin fast enough to spin more than what you need helps you with doing a better spinning kick... That seems to be true for me too...

    Well the movements included included in Kata are mostly throwing, joint locking and trapping techniques, they are not actual blocking movements. So they do not have to be shortened to work, they just have to be applied the way how they were originally intented to be used when created in order to work in a fight

    • @GingerNinjaTrickster
      @GingerNinjaTrickster  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nytro Dralyg Mostly... I don’t get what you are trying to achieve. Crossing when blocking, etc is ineffective and ends up being shortened and refined when sparring/fighting.
      Most moves are still exaggerated, they certainly are in tuls in Taekwondo.
      Exaggerating moves is how we learn, it’s broken down in steps and then becomes a fluid motion.

      @@GingerNinjaTrickster Hi GNT,
      first of all I am a really big fan of yours. I really love your videos and have benefited a lot from them, I really mean you no disrespect. But the point I am trying to make is that the funny thing most modern combat sports and even most modern traditional martial art practitioners do not know is that actually often the most efficent techniques of a particular styles are contained in the forms. The thing is that (which I think you already know) in the past in order to teach a wide array of students self defense and make them easier to remember certain techniques the techniques were put in forms which basically served as a summary for the most important techniques. But the important point is to understand exactly what each movement in a traditional martial art form exactly stands for. A lot of ppl believe that martial art stances are supposed to be used for leg conditoning, especially in Kung Fu. But why would I invent whole Kung Fu forms just for training my leg muscles when I can simply do regular leg strength exercises. Well the answer for that is that martial arts stances first of all are actually always intented to be part of a technique. The famous horse stance for instance is often used to position yourself behind the opponent in order to push him over your legs executing a throw. Another example is that the cat/tiger stances true Purpose is actually a leg sweep where you use your front foot raised on the ball of the foot to pull your opponents leg away just like how you would also do in modern arts. ppl criticize trad. arts to include unessacary exaggerated flashy movements. But those movements are not flashy at all if apllied correctly. In Tai Chi there are for example a lot of circular and wide movements. They however are not used for channeling your internal energy or anything like that they are supposed to be throwing techniques where you grab onto your opponent and throwthem to the ground. You can see that if you would try to execute a lot of modern wrestling or even judo techniques in the air they would look exactly the same as a Kata/form movement. Okay okay but what does that have to do with Karate forms… Well in Karate the forms are often abstracted and simplified in order to make them more easier for the student to learn, so the movement of grappling and joint locking techniques is simplified and therefore for the naked eye looks like a simple block. So my point is that a lot of Karate movements are not meant to be blocks to begin with so obviously they would not be very efficent as blocks. An important aspect to take into consideration is the hand on the hip. It always represent you having grabbed some part of your oppenents body part in it. So when you are punching with your hand on your hip you actually have cleared one of your opponents arms out of the way making an opening for you so that you can strike the opponent there with your other arm. If you keep that in mind and apply that arm on the hip idea in mind you will see that for example the low block is actually an stand up arm bar, the inside block becomes a joint lock, the outside inner forearm block becomes an arm drag and the knife hand block also becomes a technique where you control one of your opponents arms with the hand in front of the chest and then strike to his neck with your front arm. Another example is the spear hand strike from Do San Tul and Won Hyo Tul. Obviously the technique would suck as an actual striking technique. In Karate however the movement is used to push down one of the opponents arms and then you step behind him with your front leg and push him over by using the spear arm. It is not really easy to explain by only typing. you can look up the youtubers „Iain Abernethy“ and Jesse Enkamp Bunkai they have excellent demonstrations of how the movement in a karate kata can be used very efficently in a fight without having to shortened at all

      @@andresmiguel2573 it's just not something taught in traditional mt which has a heavy focus on basics. Now you see it happen more as ppl train multiple disciplines. There's a whole bunch you can watch on TH-cam. Kwon kicker has a great ko in a fight in Thailand like that. Normally if you land a good back kick you don't need to throw another.

    WHAT HAPPENED TO FIGHT PERFECT??? It sounds the account was terminated on one of the videos. I am not sure if this was their decision or whether it was TH-cams. The reason I ask is because I feel if it was their decision they would have done a video explaining why but they literally posted a video 13 hours ago and when I tried accessing it it said “this video is no longer associated with this account because it has been terminated.”

    Winding up to really exaggerate... that's reminding me of both Bas Rutten and his extra telegraphed punches so he gets the block reaction he's looking for, so he can punish with a liver shot, AND of the recent Tekken 7 Akuma costume bullshit with tassels that looked like an attack but it was just this dude cancelling an attack, creating a feint that gets reacted to.
