Love the content on this channel. For one- I just got my Anvil 6.5, and for two- like seeing these German classic styles! Also, your production values are superb. Keep up the good video!
MAN! I have been following you a bit now. Probably watched both seasons. This is my second time rewatching and I have to say it is insanely GOOD. Thank you. Would love to see more of your kegging and packaging!
Cool videos, been checking them out since I want to eventually get an Anvil Foundry to make test batches for my brother's shop. Also want to visit Denver once this lockdown BS is over with, I'll have to hit you up when I'm nearby!
Awesome stuff! Love seeing more Berliner's with brett! I've got a some brett from a 40 yr old Berliner Weisse that I've been using in mine. I'm getting ready to brew another soon. Kettle sours are great but I tend to like the more traditional/historical approach as well. Cheers!
@@HopsANDgnarly yeah I got it off of a member of MTF. I think there are a few Labs that sell it now at least I know Escarpement out of Canada sells a couple Berliner Brett strains. Check em out!
Nice video man! I like your editing and how you explained everything well. How are you liking that anvil system? Im waiting on my anvil 10.5 gallon system to arrive. Can hardly wait 😃
Thanks dude! I'm really digging the Anvil System. This is the 6.5 and it seems to boil 3.5 - 4 gallons fairly well on 110 power and I haven't had any issues with scorching.
@@HopsANDgnarly ahhh awesome! I too will be running 110v power so we'll see how it will boil. I read a lot about them being really good for not scorching so that's great! Cheers brother! 🍻
Hey brother, amazing content you’re putting out! Best production value I’ve seen in home brewing videos. Super informative! Do you ever brew 5 gallon batches on the 6.5? I appreciate the info and keep up the awesome work!
Great video! I just ordered the Anvil so I’m excited! Which hop spider do you use? Also, do you get a lot of protein break material in the fermenter or does it leave most of it behind when racking? Thanks!
Thanks! I got my hop basket at my local shop but I linked to a super similar one in the description. With the rotating arm I don't get a lot of material in the fermenter but you kinda have to pay attention. Bet you're stoked for your first brew day. Let me know how it goes 🤙🏼🍻
Awesome content! Which out of the electric kettles that you've brewed with would you recommend? I'm considering the Anvil but not sure which size. Also, do you have any recipes on BeerSmith?
Hey thanks man! I really like the size of the 6.5 Anvil Foundry but I just recently got my hands on a 7.5 Mash & Boil and I’m super stoked to try it out. Those would probably be my top two choices. I do use BeerSmith but didn’t realize I could share them that way. I’ll have to look into that more!
Love your videos man, great production. Curious about adding fruit juice. I’ve added fruit to several beers but never straight juice. I have a cobbler sour fermenting right now I was planning to use blackberry and raspberry to fruit with but after seeing you use juice it has piqued my interest. How much juice are you using? Specific ratio or eyeballing? Keep the content coming!
Thanks for the quick reply! Definitely less mess using fruit juice, but whole fruit definitely provides a distinct, more robust flavor I’m sure. May have to do another batch and use juice just to compare.
Hey, it says on the website you linked for the Anvil system that the unit plugs into 120v, but it seems like it has the option to use 240v. If you happen to use the 120v, do you find the boil time manageable?
Yep I use 120 and it’s been totally cool. But if I had the option to use 240 I would definitely switch. It gets to temp pretty quickly but it’s not the most rigorous boil I’ve seen
Was the quick sour a 3 gallon batch that you added the juices to? I ask because I'm currently brewing the quick sour and I love the juice combo you used. I'm using the 10.5 AF, so curious if I should double. How'd it turn out?
Yep it was a 3 gallon batch and it was one of the best I’ve made. Highly recommend the same combo, or since it’s summer now you could swap in some fresh fruit. Just freeze it first if you go that route and unfreeze before adding to the carboy.

You should throw together a playlist of all the music in your videos
just found this channel, so far i like it. Keep the content coming!
Thanks, will do!

Great video
Thanks trev 🤘🏼
I am thinking about making this beer using the Philly sour yeast
I like the sound of that! Let me know how it goes!

Quick German tip: "ei" is pronounced like the letter i. It exists, because we pronounce the letter i "ee".
Thanks!

9:08 Why is the chiller foamy? Why was the Carboy foamy when you were adding juice to it 5:55 ?
StarSan my dude
@@HopsANDgnarly it's OK to leave sanitizer foam in your beer?

I would rather use fruit but juice works well too. 1 qt/gallon has worked well for me with berry juice

Where’s the other videos for this beer? How well did it turn out?
I tasted this one on an episode of gear and a beer. The link is toward the bottom of the description 🍻

Dude, keep it up these videos are way too slick to have so few subscribers. Are you just starting with brewing?
Thanks dude! Just started the channel at the end of February but I've been brewing for a few years. Appreciate the support 👊🏼

Jeffrey Black yep exactly. I’m not sure if that’s 100% required but I’ve had good results using that method
Hops & Gnarly thanks dude! Also, just wanted to say, keep up the great work! Your style is super accessible and informative.
how much could i expect to pay for a full loadout to create sour beer? and would you recommend any websites to buy from ? nice videos btw
Depends how much you’re trying to make but this one probably cost me around $40 total
