According to many sources, Sokaku Takeda was famous for being very competitive with daito ryu. Although nowadays it's become a static art, I believe the competitive spirit is carried on with Tomiki's aikido.
very nice. I especially like how you show the techniques being used in randori, the iron test for any technique. If it doesn't work in randori, it isn't practical.
It’s from an exhibition match to reintroduce the Toshu (hand to hand) rules so while not high stakes its not rehearsed either; However, I did mislabel it though, it’s not Tenkai/Kaiten Kote Gaishi/Shoho nage, it’s Tenkai/Kaiten Kote Hineri.
I cant take aikido seriously as a maryial art tomiki took aikido and made it look like bad judo it looks so awkward in a competitive format it was never designed for if you could find a daito ryu aiki jujitsu school try that not aikido

Nice! Good technique and applied in real time👍💮
Good video!
Nice video, except the last one in the tournament, it wasn’t a Shiho Nague.
Agreed, it’s kaiten/tenkai Kote Gaeshi

Tomiki was trying to bring Aikido under Kodokan Judo by modifying it but he FAILED !
Highly possible that Tomiki studied exactly Daito-ryu however very hard to see it by looking on Tomiki-ryu.
