When you discover that Kaede has adored/understood and deeply loved Renge since before she could even walk or talk you realise they probably have the deepest, purest affection for each other of any of the superbly crafted characters that make NNB so subtly brilliant. For me its the joint greatest S.O.L in anime history, tying with the very different K-On.
Along with "Yuru Camp" and "Super CUB"....I have recently visited the real life locations used for both "Super CUB" and "NNB" (the school and candy store).

Yes, there is something infectious about it. I also think Natsumi doesn't get enough credit for being the one to look out for Renge the most (at least for the kids). She is the next youngest, so Natusmi pays more attention to Renge than any of the older kids.
Ah yes, I played too much Genshin that I can see Eula (Dagashiya), Yae Miko (Natsumi eventhough tomboy), and YunJin (Ren-chon eventhough the pitch is different and Nyanpasu)
