So nice to see someone toe to toe with Andy with mutual respect. Rodriguez realized his error, freely admitted it and walked away. In that moment, they bonded. Good stuff.
To step into the hypothetical writer's room for a moment: I wonder if they wrote it this way because by this point in the show we've seen Andy clash with bosses time and time again. I wonder if having him do so again at this point in the series would have felt redundant (or more of the same old stuff) so they wrote Rodriguez in a way that he and Andy gained mutual respect rather quickly so that his growth as a character didn't regress unnecessarily. Obviously, Andy would eventually butt heads with Lt. Bale, but I feel by that point they needed to change it up again, this time creating a hard-nose boss that we hadn't seen yet and enough time had passed so it didn't feel so repetitive. Just my thoughts while I'm thinking about it.
Gotta love Andys look at the end. A guy who's had to fight with bosses for years and years to let him do his job and Rodriguez realizing he overstepped. Andy generally has to fight with everyone
Love it for the same reason!!! Inner Andy voice says, “wait a sec, a lieu that is reasonable from jump, and I don’t have to grouse for the entirety of the episode???!!!” Exterior Andy look says, “I’ll wear this incredibly amusing look for two secs, because I haveta!” 😁
I think Andy didn't know what hit him there....Have I just been had?.....I don't think I'd ever seen that look on Andy's face for the entire run of the show.
Rodriguez was my favorite boss. He respected his squad, always backed them, but would also jump in if he had to. Here, he's a big enough man to see Andy is not only annoyed, but a bit insulted. His response is perfect. Says he's sorry without really saying, and letting Sipowicz know the communication will not be a one way street with him. But, it's ultimately about the work. He knows Andy is, at the end of the day, also a results guy. But Andy leaves this conversation in a good place, hot as he was.
Really like the line Rodriguez responds with after Andy mentions respect. "...which you don't seem to be showing me at all." LOVE the way that line is delivered. Subtle grinning of the teeth sort of delivery like sizing up Andy for a throwdown.
Rodriguez may be a teensy bit overzealous, but he seems like a humble man who has no problem admitting when he's wrong, especially when confronted with facts. That's rare in a boss. To me, a big clue that Rodriguez is sincere is when he says, "please".
I love the looks on Sipowicz and Sorenson’s faces when Lt. Rodriguez starts speaking Spanish with the perp! Also, the way Sipowicz says the word “Español” near the end of the clip had me weak lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So many other of this shows best scenes feature Andy showing growth. This one is great for the opposite reason. It shows that he's still really hard headed and doesn't quite know how to comprehend an authority figure respecting his position in an argument and backing down
I love the way the writers honestly wrote Andy's bigotry and homophobia and his growth and acceptance of differences. Its such a true and compelling journey that allows the viewers to care about Andy and not completely hate him .
I only saw Fancy get into an interrogation once or twice..when he knew that he 100% could get it and the detectives had been at it for hours and weren’t getting anywhere or they were short on time
Not on a good start. I like how Andy’s saying we do differently in here to Rodriguez. Not trying to diminish Rodriguez but I think he’s a big picture guy so much that he sometimes overlooks something.
Good exchange between Andy and Rodriguez. Deep down Andy understood where Rodriguez was coming from, but had to remind hm this was no longer his job. Fancy never walked in like this except once...
@@Eclectic999 So what if Fancy walked in twice?!? He felt he had just as much a reason to do so as Rodriguez did here. Besides, Fancy wasn’t so consumed with his status that he wouldn’t beat that ass if he had to! That’s what I loved about Fancy! Sipowicz knows this firsthand!
Andy can't comprehend a boss backing down and agreeing.

One of Andy's best "WTF just happened here?" look .
Similar to when Bobby once told him he had a face like "he'd swallowed a turd".
If you want to really annoy Andy, agree with him. It will drive him nuts
He sure looked confused at the end. That squint was the perfect WTF squint.
@@stevethomas2285For real
I love this scene!! The way the Lt. ended it and Andy's look of bewilderment at the end is classic!!
Me too. 😂😂😂

Great acting- “WTF just happened????” 😂😂😂😂

Thx Capt obvious

Yes, Andy feels that was too easy,

The way Andy squints and pulls his head back in disbelief, had me rolling 😂
That look at the end there.. visible confusion at it's finest.
Should have named this clip, "Andy was looking for a fight, but got an apology..." lol
Really like the line Rodriguez responds with after Andy mentions respect. "...which you don't seem to be showing me at all." LOVE the way that line is delivered. Subtle grinning of the teeth sort of delivery like sizing up Andy for a throwdown.

Andy thought Tony was about to call him out but surprisingly seemed taken back by his composure.

Love how Tony glared at Andy's finger-point. Some coiled testosterone in both those guys at that moment.
Look at the smoke coming out of Andy’s ears!😂
One of my favorite scenes ever!
Since this was Rodriguez's first command, I believe Andy was trying to teach him how not to step on his detectives' collective toes.
Love Andy's look at the end... Hunh? What? He agreed? WTF!
Andy had all that fight cocked and ready, and no bang.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Andy, at the end, was like, "wait, what? Wtf just happened?"

Lt. Respects andy more now for standing up for whats right.
Andy NEVER expected the Lt. to agree with him, it stunned him for a few seconds.
I only saw Fancy get into an interrogation once or twice..when he knew that he 100% could get it and the detectives had been at it for hours and weren’t getting anywhere or they were short on time
Andy. Storming, Norming and Forming with a new Boss in one scene
*"And ANOTHER thing...* wait, what?"
Andy pushing his job security to the limit and then gets blindsided by Rodriguez's agreeing with him.
He really defused andy by saying thats fair enough
Wrong on this one Andy. I love this show.
Gabriel Elias is a good actor
Not on a good start. I like how Andy’s saying we do differently in here to Rodriguez. Not trying to diminish Rodriguez but I think he’s a big picture guy so much that he sometimes overlooks something.
I don't think the Luetenant appreciated Andy's dramatic use of his finger.
Thats fair enough
Alright then
Alright
Last thing you wanna do is to butt into Andy's case's..he'll let you know bout it.
Andy's facial expression was priceless at the end. Hilarious 😁😁😁😁
So what did my father do about Tia Carlotta?
nice reference!
Confess and the County won't have to pay detectives overtime to prove their case. Saves your tax dollars bro. Deal?
Did he just agree with me??
Great scene but the perp in my opinion is trying to act like Tony Montana is Scarface.
...show off your *Espanol*
😄

Twice.
“Weaver of Hate” & “Honeymoon at Viagra Falls”
