On one hand, I completely understand that you need to make money to keep the lights on and stomachs full. But this... this is too much. If MTX stays strictly cosmetic, I would have absolutely no issue with that. But the gacha-like pay-to-win mechanics that have been plaguing more and more MMOs have to stop. And it's very clear to me that I'm not alone in this opinion.

Sure you could make a new account and buy max combat stats to get into bossing sooner, but max combat is already super quick to achieve and then you’re right back to competing against nobody. If someone wants to skip early content to play the endgame and is willing to pay for the experience they want 🤷🏼♂️
We didn't fully win, we need to make sure they dont kick the can down the street to see how far they go again when this passes. People also want less P2W MTX as well, and they need to reevaluate everything.

If they follow through on all of this I'll be quite pleased. pretty much hits my list of gripes. Stripping out the predatory MTX is a great step in the right direction given how heavily monetized RS3 is.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I will stay vigilant for a pushback against the reverted changes.. but this post actually seemed good to me. They're being honest about why the player base reacted, and admitting fault by apologising, thus giving credibility to the backlash they received. I don't see anything in here that screams of deception or being sly. They've been open about what they're removing and how long it might take. They've admitted that this isn't the final form, but they're now going to be including players in the decision making process. (I'm not saying they will listen or it will end up good, but these are their next steps). For now, I think it's safe to lower the pitchforks and engage openly. Just have them at the ready if they suggest premium currencies or something

And also this, " we have hundreds of thousands of players who have been completing hero pass missions, earning rewards and using the new cosmetics. " because just by logging in we are forced to take part in it. I hope people keep up with this push.

I am happy that these changes are taking place. I will say that, as an iron, I was saving up skips in daily challenges for when I got to dung. Lost about 200 of them to the hero pass..😢

I'm perm banned on an alt account, for something I haven't done, and my appeal has even been denied. I had 2-factor on it, and everything was completely fine. Its a mess up for them, and I have no way to defend myself. it has been 3 years since now, and I wont touch their game till they atleast unbans me, and makes big changes in the customer support. Being false banned shouldn't be a thing, and I have always though people getting banned was deserved. There is actually people just like me in this situation, who shouldn't be banned, and I find it super cringe by Jagex, to close down every single way to defend myself, when I haven't done anything wrong. I even have a max account, but I wont play this game till there is big changed.. If there will be no changes, then I hope the game dies.
hopefully they make it easier to get levels because it still takes 4-5 hours to get 1k points for a level thats like a full day of playing for some people basically forcing you to play every day to max out the pass and not allowing you to play other games
100% the zammy 20% damage reduction should be something for combat week, a week that is made to help us noobs learn PVM, but I'm glad about all of these changes :)
Not Jagex. Idk where you got that from. Jagex is who pushes this MTX garbage on us. Don't believe when people say the investment company that owns Jagex is responsible for it all; Carlyle is very hands off compared to a lot of investment companies, they expect Jagex to turn a profit and increase its revenue and it's up to Jagex how to do it. The OS team accomplishes this by attracting more and more players; the RS3 team piles on the MTX
It will never get better. People lost this fight July 17th 2012 when they added RuneCoins and the first premium cosmetics. They didn't hold the line then and it only moves in one direction once it starts. The fact that anyone is giving them credit for back pedaling means they've won. They don't get kudos for that.

I can tell reading the comments that Jagex has indeed lost a lot of the trust of the player base, and that's probably justified, given what they just tried to push on us. However, where a lot of game companies (particularly coughBlizzardcough) would have just told everyone to quit bitching and play the game, Jagex actually listened and has stated that they are going to fix this, starting with the worst offending parts. Personally that has restored at least some of the faith I had in Jagex to actually do things for the players. People need to take a deep breath and give them time to make it right instead of immediately assuming the worst and that they'll just do it again in the future.
Don't get complacent. Going to far and then pulling back to seem reasonable is a common tactic of manipulation and negotiations. People are far more willing to accept something unfair if the alternative is even more unfair.

Didn’t they say the combat buffs were like Deathtouch Darts and didn’t give KC/times? Why are people ok with Deathtouch Darts but not something you’d actually do a fight with?
DTD isn't usable on end-game bosses like zammy, the only reason people tolerate DTD is because they don't allow them on any new hard bosses (Ambassador is the hardest that allows it, and you have to do the dungeon first, otherwise its Nex or KK which are both 10 years old)
They are trying to get as much money out of the game without killing it. That's just what they have to do with pressure from shareholders. What the community needs to suggest is a way for them to make more money that doesn't kill the game. Don't say grow the game because every other update is an attempt to do that.
I have to say as someone that largely just skills and is a total pepega at pvm, i like the idea of seasonal gameplay buffs but they can’t be locked behind a paywall or unachievable progression system
