Getting a Zodiac is essentially saying after every step, "Well that wasn't so bad how bad could it be from here?" and it just gets progressively more mentally draining than the next.
It’s mainly the books. I just got finished with doing the books a couple of days ago (took me 2 and a half days of playing) and then I moved on to the sphere scroll and it only took me like 2 hours total. Now I’m doing the soul attunement thing and if I’ve done my math correctly it’ll only take me like 4 hours. The books are just designed horribly.
Even if I could only "activate" one book at a time, just being able to hold more than one at a time would have made the book step that much smoother. Heck, I'd take only having one book per weapon at the same time. Having one book period was such a pain.
I did the BLM and PLD Zodiacs back in Heavensward. Then I did WAR in Stormblood, prefarming the rest and sitting on them. Quit when Eureka Pyros burned me out. Came back in 6.1, and did the rest. The friggin' books took me two days per weapon because the FATEs just took sevenever to spawn. I have five alts. _NONE_ of them are touching the Zodiac, even though the SMN book looks nice before it starts getting glowy. No thank you. I gave the game enough masochism doing all 10 Zodiacs, all 13 Anima, and all 15 Physeos on main (Haven't touched Bozja yet in any real depth, not looking forward to it) and I have the materials for all 19 Mandervilles up to Majestic. I think I'm good.
This is an issue with ARR quests in general. I decided recently to do every side quest in the game, and the amount of quests that are a chain is so fucking annoying. QUIT GIVING ME A NEW QUEST AFTER I JUST TURNED IN THE ONE YOU GAVE ME
Zodiac relics are incomparably faster now with data travel, I remember taking like a week to finish one book because fate was never spawning in my playtime window
Another thing that helps now is the rise of BLU mage. With a high level BLU mage with ram's voice and ultravibration, you can two-shot almost any boss fate and, with the flashy DPS BLU spells, you can still clear mob fates pretty fast. And if you keep speed clearing the fates this way, it will force the needed fate to spawn much faster (which can also be cleared insanely fast with BLU compared to literally any other level-syned job).
not to mention increased drop rates of the needed items(atma went from something like a 1%-5% to around a 20% and the dungeons were not a garunteed completion per run, something like 50%, so that 27 dungeon runs was easily more, and not to forget about the second dungeon step later that also was a 50/50 on wether you got the item needed at the end of the dungeon), light, decreased cost of poetic items as well as being able to solo all of the content required.
The daily instance cap is exactly 100, I saw this from Blue Mage gil farming videos. The instance caps will block you out from doing solo quest duties and Gold Saucer Gates such as Leap of Faith and Airforce one as well (The stage ones and the chocobo hatchling are still fine since they are not instanced). I think I once reached the cap through Chocobo Racing.
The trick is to start at 7 am (or 9 hours before reset) and have the reset occur right between all the dungeon runs. There is some leeway, but timing is key.
I damn near spit my food out when I saw my Retainers name in a random Video on TH-cam! You bought my Vampire's Knives! I guess the premelded ones I was selling were already gone... Little did I know what adventures those knives would see. Congrats on the -Zodiac- Zeta Weapon!
Comparing making a relic weapon now to how it was in Arr aint possible. You have some basic things like: - Drop rates in arr (were back in arr as low as 0.5-1%) - Not being able to fly - There was a limit on how many tomes you could get a week for the relic. The books also cost like 500 each - The anima books used to have 10 of each mob, while it only spawned 3 at a time, so you would have the whole server camping the same 3 dudes... - The respawn timers of some of the fates had up to a 72 hours of respawn time... - Light grind was hell since it was complelty random which fight was on bonus. And you got so little light from each thing. - Zeta atmas was.. special since it was a small chance to get your atma drop from your dungeon, and you didnt get it until the end of the dungeon, so each dungeon taking about 20 mins to do... - Materia grind, you would break your alexandriets as well if you failed, and it was a reallyy frustrating since you only got 1 map for free each day (from the expert roulette.) and you only got 1 per map. The list goes on.
@BrunoLopes-ou1gy I agree that Eureka and Bozja grinds are longer. But I do think that the ARR grind is worse because there's next to no new content for it, unlike Bozja and Eureka with unique zones, bosses, and raids.
@BrunoLopes-ou1gy Plus, Almost all of the ARR relics look bad except for the final versions imo, so it's less rewarding to recieve the earlier versions.
@@Bruiser7985 when it's a current content I agree, it could be very fun to do, at least once. But after that it's very frustrating to do because you rely on other people who probably already did that for you to finish what you want. I hope eureka become popular again with the free trial up to stormblood than I'll be able to finish it.
@@BrunoLopes-ou1gy To be fair I started Eureka this month and it's been extremely populated at when I've played. I had no issues finding prep groups and NM farm groups
I did PLD's Zodiac relic before I even got to HW, during EW. At level 60. On the free trial. It was awful. Keep in mind that "it's easier now" does NOT mean "it's easy". Also, for those giving it a try, Garuda Extreme is better than Aurum Vale for the first light farm. Faster by two thirds, for only slightly less light. If you have two level 90 dps, you can get it done in *9* seconds. Recently helped a friend through theirs and that's how we did that step. Just spamming the quest and trying to beat the time each run. I think our lowest was 6 seconds if we got every hit off just right.
Garuda is faster, but if you're ever worried about hitting the duty limit (if you want to do duty roulettes or cap tomes the same day) then Aurum is better.
I completed all Zodiac relics. I hadn't realized the toll it took on me until watching this video made me feel physically ill. But congrats on your relic!
I find it silly that SE hasn't just axed the gil drops from ARR/HW dungeons instead of imposing that silly duty limit because they don't exist in SB onwards, but have historically been one of the most heavily farmed sources of gil for bots. The drops are too small to be meaningful to normal players so I kind of doubt anyone would actually miss them.
Did you know that the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial, and includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime? Sign up, and enjoy Eorzea today! this this is why
I remember doing my light grind last year for my first weapon, optimising it, reporting to friends on my fastest times, declinging sanity. They at least pulled me out every now and then for raids and roulette, would have gone truly mad otherwise
Unsynced didn't exist in ARR, dungeons were a lot harder then they are now, drop rates are improved from what they were.. In short everything is a lot easier now then they used to be.
As someone who's done half the weapons available and only got 2 book grinds left, they're fun to do in downtime when you dunno what you wanna do on any game, but to do it in 1 day you've actually lost the plot 😂 Amazing stuff though still, congrats 👏
The *best* way I've found to farm these is to do it with 2 other people. Every book has 3 FATEs, so you just have one person sit in each zone. None of the FATEs up? Queue for a dungeon. FATE up? Everyone goes to do it and then goes back to their designated zone. Rinse and repeat. It's great.
you dont need to comeplete a leve, you can just pick one up and abandon it and it still refreshes the list, picking up a level changes the list not completing them
I remember back in the day I got all the ATMA in one day and my friends still talk about it to this day. I can't even complain about rng in this game because they bring up the atma incident everytime and are just like "girl shut up, eff you"😂 xD
i just did this the other day. although after doing the books i doubt ill ever use the other atma. lol but at least i have them all just in case i guess.
I'm gonna feel bad saying this... but apparently the most efficient way to get light is to see which one has the bonus out of the three dungeons. Tam-tara, Stone Vigil, and Aurum Vale. You unsync all three of them and you spam the one that gives you the "blinding" bonus that shifts every two hours that's better than the brilliant light that you were getting spamming Aurum Vale. ...man I can't believe you actually hit the duty cap.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I also did this in one day, but never actually hit the dungeon limit thanks to the bonus light which is actually the most hidden, trash mechanic in the entire game. Actually, maybe the game tells you there is a bonus for light, but its so easily missable.
I dont think so, is the ban only for doing dungeons? Even if it isnt, ex trials, garuda and moogle to be specific, are for what i have seen by far the best way to farm light at lvl cap.
@@blkhailink5963I calculated the time required to do a few of them at the time. It's definitely been a while so I lost those numbers. Anything that required duty finder will lock you out unfortunately.
@@blkhailink5963 Assuming you don't have a fast dungeon with bonus (which would most likely be the fastest regardless), then yeah, an EX that you can clear in 2/3 the time (or same time, if the EX has a bonus) of a dungeon would break even on time, and you should be able to make even better. Another option to consider: Ifrit Normal (4-man version, not "Hard") gives 1/4 the light of non-bonus EX or 1/6 the light of EX w/ bonus, and can be killed the second the intro circle drops. At least with fast load times, this becomes very competitive with EX. But either way, since these are trials, they do not count towards the ~100 dungeons/day limit.
The biggest thing I like about the ARR relics is that they can be used in the Heavensward relics. The idea that they are the culmination of your time in ARR, travel with you through Heavensward, and in some form they continue to grow in power is such a neat concept.
honestly i just wish they kept that in for each new relic, giving you a chance to have a set of truly personal weapons that continued to grow with you, something you really crafted yourself from the ground up. plus then youd only need to make one set of weapons, and each time you turn it in you can keep access to the replicas without hogging inventory space
Some of your tips helped me in my free trial zodiac journey, and after completing the first I decided I had not felt enough pain and began gathering the materials to make the other 9 relics
I enjoyed the pain so much, I did all 10 of them For the levepart, if u hold the ones u dont want, the leves will be forced to pick the ones u want to fill the pool, making that part pretty much not RNG at all, especially handy if u do multiple relics
I've done like 4-5 Zetas and the last 2 were a breeze because of World travel. It makes Books so much faster it's a night and day difference. I think my last weapon I finished in 2 days.
I didn't do my ARR Relic in 1 day, but I did do it on the Free Trial. No market board access - I had to get all of the materia and crafted items manually! I worked on it slowly in the background and it took like 3 months - mostly because of the materia and a couple of craft materials that can only drop from certain treasure maps. The 300k gil cap was also a bit of an issue with regards to getting the desynth items since they only come from overpriced vendor items.
I have personally hit the instance cap before. I had enough supplies to grind out two HW relic weapons, and I was also working on getting a mount in an extreme trial the same day. I did a bunch of unsynced runs of the old Xtreme trial, then did a whole bunch more instanced runs as part of The relic grind, and I hit the 100 limit.
The chat to the rescue on the fate grind at the end is the most wholesome part for me. They wanted to see you succeed and put their own time in to help you. What a community.
the tip about picking up the levequests in advance for future books is an absolute godsend as i'm literally on the books step of a zodiac weapon grind right now.... my second one, that is. wish i'd thought of doing that on the first one! but at least i can do it on this second time around.
light farming can be done in half an hour ish with spamming ifrit, 3 seconds per run its longer to load in and out than do the fight. works for both light farms
This only works on JP, in NA you have to alternate between King Moogle EX and Ifrit EX otherwise you will get RP locked every other Ifrit run. Still a lot faster than Aurum vale farming, though. Difference between ~128 Light/min vs. ~48 Light/min.
What amazing accomplishment, ARR RELIC in 1 day!, i remember getting a PLD relic weapon right after i beat ARR when i was like lvl 62 and broke, the whole ARR relic took me like an month to complete
The Alexandrite was super easy to get. I recently finished my Zeta as well. I just bought 15 of the special maps in Mor Dhona. Each map gives 5 Alexandrite. I funded this by doing like, 1 Hunt train, I think? Maybe 2. haha In any case, great video! The tips about hopping servers would have served me well, and I wish I had thought of it (or seen this video when I was doing it). Cheers!
im on my 6th ARR weapon, you can get the crafted step open as you're doing books (after the first weapon) so the dungeons you do for books also work for the crafted step
fun fact. You don't ahve to turn the leve in to trigger a new one showing up. You just have to complete it. this works 95% of the time, so you can actually forcably get the entire leve list from a single levemete into your quest log at once. It doenst' fix everyting but it takes a big bite out of the RNG aspect of it
I remember doing the bow together with a friend because it was such a pain, we could only handle one book a day because after that we were already exhausted. Luckily he was also a rich crafter so getting some of the items was easier. But that didn't stop me from going "Are we done yet?" after every step. Having the stamina and motivation to do this in one day baffles me (and I learned of the duty limit I never heard anything about) so congrats. Also I really like the Zeta weapon designs, feel like they totally hold up to modern relics
Noteworthy to anyone thinking about doing this- you need the zeta weapon in your inventory to buy the replicas. If you throw the weapon away you cannot buy replicas anymore. HOWEVER if you turn them in to start the anima weapon for HW, it checks a flag that allows you to buy the replicas without needing the zeta on hand. That being said also don't be like me and do this on the free trial at level 50. Its not worth it.
definitely make sure you hang onto that weapon because unlike every other relic weapon, you have to actually bring the completed zodiak weapon with you to the replica vendor to buy versions of any of the steps for glam
I've been occasionally going back to my Paladin weapon to slowly work my way through its upgrades. I've literally been working on the Curtana+Holy Shield for a decade without finishing it. Now I started doing the Thyrus a couple of days ago, and I'm currently stuck on collecting the 12 Atma because Maiden just refuses to drop.
Completing relics is a drug that I recommend to anyone. It feels so wonderful to put a lot of effort into something and have it completed. Go do your relics! It's amazing!
I just finished my second zodiac and for the final light farm and there's two things that really struck me. (books are books, nothing special here) This go around, for my final step, I bribed a friend with the inferno horns we'd find and did ifrit ex. At 30 seconds each run and 2-3 runs per mahatma, this step did not take that long. The backbreaker here is the books, and the gil step if you dont have that much. I only had 1.5 mil going into this and now I hover at about 50k. Still, congrats on your weapon! the Zodiacs are one of the best looking weapons in the game
I started a zodiac weapon years ago, and I quit partway through my first book. It's still there in my quest inventory, using space, next to the obsolete Aether Compass I don't want to discard.
I'm currently torturing myself with the ARR Relics. I completed my WHM Relic, and then decided I'd get all of the rest before moving on to HW. Furthermore, I'm doing them ALL AT ONCE. 9 of each Atma sucked so much. I'm currently on the books, I finished Paladin, so now I'm doing Ninja. I'm in the L50s, so I thankfully have a friend that's L90 to do it with. 9 Relics, for the 2nd to last stage, require 720K Grand Company Seals, 7.2K Poetics, and 3.6Mil Gil, for everything I need. Plus more Poetics for the books (900 for each weapon), plus the final stage which requires yet more Poetics. This is gonna be hell.
A friend grinded atmas in the area where you get "the goat" recently. I decided to join him after a while and brought my own zenith weapon and got 3 atma of the goat in the first 3 fates. And it took a long time for him to get 1 after that
I got my Yoichi Bow Zeta before Heavensward released. It took quite a bit of effort, but having that sweet glowy boy going into the next bit of content was fantastic.
See even though everyone complains about the books at least they keep you actively engaged. Grinding aurum vale for light was easily the worst part for me too.
Good job. For the next challenge/Zodiac, try doing it old-school. No server/DC hopping, no pre-farming Alexandrites and start the run with 0 poetics :D
i do remember these caps were added for safety of players health. it seems odd but i do recall an interview where they explained why this exists. its not to deal with bots though but thats most i recall other than what i mentioned as possible recalled factoids.
Nah, never gonna do THAT. I would rather grind tomestones, Bozja or even Eureka again before I start doing that shit. I wouldnt mind if they rework the grind or just exchange it for tome stone grind, as well. But I'm sure a small loud minority would complain about that, as well. =)
I'm one of the few on my server of Mateus that began my Zodiac relic for DRG back when I first started the game on my first server of Excalibur. Back then, when ARR first went live, getting a Zodiac was a badge of honor but dear God the grind had the potential to make you borderline sick of the game for a week or so. Fortunately I had experience dealing with extreme grinds, having achieved the rank of High Warlord back in vanilla WoW and anyone who knew what that was back then knew full well that was the kind of grind that made your eyes bleed. As for the relic, I keep my Longinus Zeta in my saddlebag. I show it off on occasion and of course the glamour is well worth the slot.😍😁
that is basically the game telling you "calm down and go take a break" XD fun fact: if Aurum doesn't have the light bonus when you run it, it isn't the fastest way.
I remember the slog to get my ARR relic for Nin and HW relic for NIN as well...both take time commitment and a lot of patience while it can be achieved in a day. I recommend breaking them up into smaller chunks. I would definitely set up milestones so that you can easily achieve your goal without achieving burnout.
When I did the Atma stage at release, I was able to get the second set in less than an hour(basically two weapons done). That pissed a lot of people off that were still hunting for 1 in the same zone when I returned.
once youve got your zeta, turn it in to start your heavensward relic, that way you keep thw ability to buy the rwplicas without needing to keep the weapon
Last year I decided I wanted to get all of the ARR relics done. So I've been slowly working on doing the steps for all of them one by one. I only have three relics to get past the books.
The big problem with the books is that they dont allow you to get into the flow of the grind. Usually, if you have a big task of killing billions of mobs you eventually just enter a zen state of mind where time flies by and you dont even notice the grind anymore. Not so much here, with the book giving you tasks all over the world, where you must constantly travel back and fro zone after zone after zone. This more then killing tons of mobs grinds my gears so much it becomes unthinkable to continue.
I have done Zodiac weapons (when able to no-life them) in about 3 days each on average entirely solo. I genuinely recommend using Bozja for grinding poetics and just AFK for FATEs to spawn at specific locations rather than seever hopping so you retain your sanity.
I remember doing the atma grind when it first came out on my old ps4 account, it was miserable, took me weeks of grinding FATEs and i never did get all 12.. think i made it to 8 and just stopped playing from general burnout but im sure grinding for atma every day accelerated the progress. Years later i got a pc and made a new account so that relic will forever be unfinished, glad to hear they've drastically increased the drop rate of atma though, cuz that shit sucked.
Just watching JustRuss' reaction to this and when you talked about Alexandrite and the tome requirements of those one thing I suddenly remembered was there is another way to collect Alexandrite if you are insane enough to do it. If you farm FATEs in ARR with the Animus weapon equipped they sometimes can drop 1 Alexandrite at about the same rate as the atma with the Zenith weapon.
I'm on the books now in Dawntrail....and they will be what kills me because I no longer have any poetics to spend on them, so now I have to go grind poetics out just for that!
This for me was like the Mr. Incredible uncanny meme. Starts off fun then ends with a "dear God fucking kill me" level of anguish. I did it once for Bard then said "nah, one time is good enough." While it didn't take me several weeks (only a few days), it was effectively a costly grind for both time and my gil. By the end of it, my friend had to give me gil since I was trying to ration my own funds for teleport costs. I enjoy a grind, I'm a Destiny veteran and a Borderlands fan for God's sake, but the ARR relic weapon grind was hell on earth even for me
If you're out of ARR for teleport costs I highly recommend picking up your weekly Heavensward and Stormblood B rank marks, you can get a ton of free teleport tickets and make 10k gil a week.
Why did you do Aurum Vale? Tam-Tara Deepcroft is so much easier unsynced and gives the same amount of light. ;) Also, I did not realize that there is a 100 duty limit cap which bans you from Duty Finder until the reset. I guess it's because I didn't do 100 dungeons in a single day.
Tam tara has object interactions and delayed mob spawning. For av, no need to kill the mobs except bosses and the morbols so av may be easier for dps unsync I guess
making the calculations it's like... 6 duties on the first step + 27 on the books step, +42 on the light step (dunno how many had bonuses) + 18 on the mahatma step, it's a total of 93 duties per day you can do in this game before the restriction activates xD
I've done two Zodiac relics so far and I still don't understand why each one needs nine animus books. We're only updating four skills by a tiny amount in the end, so surely it would make more sense to just have one book per skill for a totof four. It would still be grindy but you'd cut that step down by more than half.
Ninja is the only ARR relic i did, but synced for the first half because i didn't know better. The second half was kind of fun, speedrunning dungeons. In theory, with the move speed buff, 2 blinks, and lightning dash, plus resets from raiton, ninja would be extremely fast at running through anything.
FYI just did my ARR relic yesterday (took me 3 days) but at the last step where you need to farm light 12 times me and a friend ran the trial ultima's Bane. 6 second clear time and only takes 5 runs per step. It works on the light farming in the earlier step as well and is SO MUCH FASTER than running dungeons. Finished that step in less than 1 hour.
When you said that people complained about getting the Atma items from FATEs and how it took them days, I got all 12 within an hour or 2. Alone. My luck from shiny hunting apparently applies to relic grinding in XIV.
I did one of these relic weapons weeks ago or more back, I would not say I gave up on it just got sidetracked and was to into the story I forgotten about it. After hitting Stormblood I decided to go back and finish it up for my White Mage Relic as I dont find White Mage my least fun it was my first choice and It was my most favorite Job in FFXIV, I already completed it with ease, my WHM was like lvl 80 sooo I tackled it with zero issues. I never disliked fates, I like them. Plus who does not want to hear the music?
As someone with a primitive brain as mine I only recently finished the Zodiac warr relic I had, after 3 yrs of procastanating after the Anima step And as a Free Trial still, m ways of grinding are.... old school xD I have since then decided in the future to get every other relic for all jobs, in all expansions Just for the replica glam to store in my dresser to take unnccessary space This vid was exactly what I needed to remind me of the brain damage I must've suffered to cloud out these memories and the choices ahead Your videos have been very informative and entertaining :> And your Miqo'te is very precious in both ingame design and digital art design, the arts you have of her are very lovely x3 Thank you for being you!
I have done two grinds that get respect even among old players. I did the pteranodon grind before it got easier, and I possess a logistics node for winning 200 Frontline matches in player versus player content. I'm currently working on the rarest of the PVP mounts, the mech suit called construct 7. That one has been frustrating in the extreme.

I mean, a summoner can kill Garuda Extreme in 7-8 seconds with their first GCD if they have 550+ gear.
Garuda is faster, but if you're ever worried about hitting the duty limit (if you want to do duty roulettes or cap tomes the same day) then Aurum is better.
yes it's EXTREMELY easy sweetheart lol
@@penultimania4295 I see you skipped the clarifications and went straight to "no you're wrong lol"
class act, keep it up
@@guilegale8942 no, if you're doing the relic farm before you're max level you're just stupid, it's as simple as that.
I completed all Zodiac relics. I hadn't realized the toll it took on me until watching this video made me feel physically ill. But congrats on your relic!
“You need to complete Aurum Vale 42 times.” So confirmed, Aurum Vale *is* the meaning of life
I did it in 2 days. Horrible mind numbing, but its easy to do.
Did this step change or something? I swear that wasn't the most efficient thing to do before, I thought it was one of the extremes or raids?
@@KazumiKiguma Ya idk, back in ShB I remember spamming Ifrit ex over and over again instead of Aurum Vale as it was the most efficient.
I think back in the day they said Tam-Tara Deepcroft. Because it is easy and short enough that even as an actual Level 50 player you can do it solo
StB and on still gives gil, its just all moved to the bosses
As someone who's done half the weapons available and only got 2 book grinds left, they're fun to do in downtime when you dunno what you wanna do on any game, but to do it in 1 day you've actually lost the plot 😂
Amazing stuff though still, congrats 👏
The *best* way I've found to farm these is to do it with 2 other people. Every book has 3 FATEs, so you just have one person sit in each zone. None of the FATEs up? Queue for a dungeon. FATE up? Everyone goes to do it and then goes back to their designated zone. Rinse and repeat. It's great.
you dont need to comeplete a leve, you can just pick one up and abandon it and it still refreshes the list, picking up a level changes the list not completing them
I remember back in the day I got all the ATMA in one day and my friends still talk about it to this day. I can't even complain about rng in this game because they bring up the atma incident everytime and are just like "girl shut up, eff you"😂
xD
i just did this the other day. although after doing the books i doubt ill ever use the other atma. lol but at least i have them all just in case i guess.
@@ShoryukenPizza thats a shame, never did the farm in a single day so i never saw it happen before
@@blkhailink5963 Assuming you don't have a fast dungeon with bonus (which would most likely be the fastest regardless), then yeah, an EX that you can clear in 2/3 the time (or same time, if the EX has a bonus) of a dungeon would break even on time, and you should be able to make even better.
I enjoyed the pain so much, I did all 10 of them
For the levepart, if u hold the ones u dont want, the leves will be forced to pick the ones u want to fill the pool, making that part pretty much not RNG at all, especially handy if u do multiple relics
I've done like 4-5 Zetas and the last 2 were a breeze because of World travel. It makes Books so much faster it's a night and day difference. I think my last weapon I finished in 2 days.
Meanwhile there is me, 7 month player chilling down the game slowly, doing one book per day to preserve my sanity.
The Instance Cap. I wasn’t expecting it but here we are. That’s insane.
The way I did atmas way back when was to stay in a zone until I had atmas for each weapon.
The chat to the rescue on the fate grind at the end is the most wholesome part for me. They wanted to see you succeed and put their own time in to help you. What a community.
the tip about picking up the levequests in advance for future books is an absolute godsend as i'm literally on the books step of a zodiac weapon grind right now.... my second one, that is. wish i'd thought of doing that on the first one! but at least i can do it on this second time around.
where can I find a list of all the leves I need? I can't seem to find a list online
@@EndyTTV i think i looked it up on ffxiv consolegameswiki
When you said you did the vail 42 times my jaw dropped.. I’m so sorry. Sending you my hopes and prayers
light farming can be done in half an hour ish with spamming ifrit, 3 seconds per run its longer to load in and out than do the fight.
works for both light farms
This only works on JP, in NA you have to alternate between King Moogle EX and Ifrit EX otherwise you will get RP locked every other Ifrit run. Still a lot faster than Aurum vale farming, though. Difference between ~128 Light/min vs. ~48 Light/min.
@@Jade-nn3bnworks on both EU and OCE too. NA being the outlier
Maybe 2. haha
In any case, great video! The tips about hopping servers would have served me well, and I wish I had thought of it (or seen this video when I was doing it). Cheers!
Oh, and also, Aurum Vale is a scam! It gives higher light than Ifrit Extreme, but Ifrit dies in seconds. It was much faster imo.
im on my 6th ARR weapon, you can get the crafted step open as you're doing books (after the first weapon) so the dungeons you do for books also work for the crafted step
It's crazy how much easier this game is as a streamer
sounds like a skill issue to me
@@RinBanana sounds like you should be able you do it solo and without having alexandrite ahead of time
Also I really like the Zeta weapon designs, feel like they totally hold up to modern relics
is your friend me?
i did the exact same thing with a friend of mine and i crafted everything that needed to be crafted.
we did 1 book a day as well.
@@Maeve_Rose Guess that's just the best way to do it without losing your sanity
So the key is to start maybe 12hrs after daily reset to prevent the bot prevention mechanism.
This video really puts into perspective how easy this grind is when you just marketboard through half of it
Noteworthy to anyone thinking about doing this- you need the zeta weapon in your inventory to buy the replicas. If you throw the weapon away you cannot buy replicas anymore. HOWEVER if you turn them in to start the anima weapon for HW, it checks a flag that allows you to buy the replicas without needing the zeta on hand.
That being said also don't be like me and do this on the free trial at level 50. Its not worth it.
for materia I and II, i use crafted hq right side with slots when i gather or craft. The spiritbond really quickly and i extract materia 1s from that.
i have yet to do a Zodiac weapon or do UWU but i feel like uwu prog would go faster than an arr relic xd
i love the defense fate in north la noscea, thats fails after arround 50 seconds. i was camping this spot for 40 min until the fate finally apeared
The entire thing about happening to have a ton of Alexandrite and not knowing what it was for can be summed up in 3 words: "Rich people problems"
Now that I've watched your video I think I'll give it a go!! Thanks for sharing the process XD
I actually finished 4 or 5 Atma grinds over the years just randomly doing a FATE now and again as I passed thru the areas.
definitely make sure you hang onto that weapon because unlike every other relic weapon, you have to actually bring the completed zodiak weapon with you to the replica vendor to buy versions of any of the steps for glam
This relic weapon grind will always and forever be part of my ffxiv journey. Im damn proud i also got through it.
i did this on free trial, Market Board is such a privilege i dont have
I've been occasionally going back to my Paladin weapon to slowly work my way through its upgrades. I've literally been working on the Curtana+Holy Shield for a decade without finishing it.
Now I started doing the Thyrus a couple of days ago, and I'm currently stuck on collecting the 12 Atma because Maiden just refuses to drop.
Good news: Maiden dropped
Bad news: Bull is giving me sass now
I’d love them to let you do at least 2 books at a time even though I’m down to 3 to complete.
Zodiac in ARR was an absolute hell.
I started a zodiac weapon years ago, and I quit partway through my first book.
It's still there in my quest inventory, using space, next to the obsolete Aether Compass I don't want to discard.
Of course we don't want to discard it! It's a present from our oldest friend, after all.
Yup, the books are what crushed me too. TWICE.
Also, 42 Aurum Vale runs... X 9. I might just choose to do Extreme Trials instead, done in seconds.
why would you do that? lmao
I swear, when I grinded for my ARR Bow, I got aneurism on my aneurism. It was prolly longest grind I did in this game, ngl.
A friend grinded atmas in the area where you get "the goat" recently. I decided to join him after a while and brought my own zenith weapon and got 3 atma of the goat in the first 3 fates. And it took a long time for him to get 1 after that
I... have NEVER seen a MAXIMUM amount of duties penalty. My word... even now I am learning more about the game. XD
You do realize that the Moogle Extreme run you can get done in like 50 seconds with 2 well placed AOE. I like it far better than Garuda Extreme
I got my Yoichi Bow Zeta before Heavensward released. It took quite a bit of effort, but having that sweet glowy boy going into the next bit of content was fantastic.
Damn, almost as crazy as the guy who got all of them on the free trail
I did all 10 relics in a few weeks. I had covid and no responsibilities and all of netflix at my disposal. I actually enjoyed myself strangely enough
I show it off on occasion and of course the glamour is well worth the slot.😍😁
that is basically the game telling you "calm down and go take a break" XD
fun fact: if Aurum doesn't have the light bonus when you run it, it isn't the fastest way.
do the Ultimate Kettle Nexus, what you unloc when you finish your first Zodiac Relic. :D
I have played this game for over 10 years and I never even heard that there was a duty cap!
"and people made out that this step was bad, its just boring!"
>:(
*reverts your atma drop rates back to ARR time, where it was less than 5% at most*
once youve got your zeta, turn it in to start your heavensward relic, that way you keep thw ability to buy the rwplicas without needing to keep the weapon
This more then killing tons of mobs grinds my gears so much it becomes unthinkable to continue.
for light farm, I prefer 5sec ifrit normal runs. Even without bonus light its comparable to aurum vale WITH bonus light
I did it once for Bard then said "nah, one time is good enough."
While it didn't take me several weeks (only a few days), it was effectively a costly grind for both time and my gil.
Tam-Tara Deepcroft is so much easier unsynced and gives the same amount of light. ;)
Also, I did not realize that there is a 100 duty limit cap which bans you from Duty Finder until the reset. I guess it's because I didn't do 100 dungeons in a single day.
Tam tara has object interactions and delayed mob spawning. For av, no need to kill the mobs except bosses and the morbols so av may be easier for dps unsync I guess
The moment I saw NIN was selected I though. “Hey at least he has that increased movement speed!” 😂
YES there is a limit to how many times you can enter a dungeon duty. People using the Vault Blue Mage Gil farm method hit it pretty quick
omg you made me wanna continue my long time abandoned zodiac weapon
making the calculations it's like... 6 duties on the first step + 27 on the books step, +42 on the light step (dunno how many had bonuses) + 18 on the mahatma step, it's a total of 93 duties per day you can do in this game before the restriction activates xD
As a Ninja main this was fantastic to watch 🤣
I've done two Zodiac relics so far and I still don't understand why each one needs nine animus books. We're only updating four skills by a tiny amount in the end, so surely it would make more sense to just have one book per skill for a totof four. It would still be grindy but you'd cut that step down by more than half.
Ninja is the only ARR relic i did, but synced for the first half because i didn't know better. The second half was kind of fun, speedrunning dungeons. In theory, with the move speed buff, 2 blinks, and lightning dash, plus resets from raiton, ninja would be extremely fast at running through anything.
For light farming you can also run 63 times mogry king extreme wich takes about 30 sec per run
I see having a seemingly endless amount of Gil is how you did it 😂😂
don't forget getting alexandrite beforehand
everytime i finish the 10 set of a quest , i come to this video
As someone with a primitive brain as mine
I only recently finished the Zodiac warr relic I had, after 3 yrs of procastanating after the Anima step
And as a Free Trial still, m ways of grinding are.... old school xD
I have since then decided in the future to get every other relic for all jobs, in all expansions
Just for the replica glam to store in my dresser to take unnccessary space
This vid was exactly what I needed to remind me of the brain damage I must've suffered to cloud out these memories and the choices ahead
Your videos have been very informative and entertaining :>
And your Miqo'te is very precious in both ingame design and digital art design, the arts you have of her are very lovely x3
Thank you for being you!
If you cycled through the duties and found the bonus duty, you could spam that one. You'd have to do less duties and won't hit the cap.
