    Like you say a lower speed means longer on the road there for more engine running time and again more exhaust fumes. Were I live in the county of Wrexham the county council are putting up 20 signs that will be enforced in mid September.The A483 know as the Wrexham by-pass at junctions 5 and 6 as had it speed dropped to 50 mph in 2021 .It is obvious lower speed longer driving time, so it's not just happening in Wales it looks like it's happening were you are in England . Thanks for the video

      Yes it has - they want EVs only.......
      Wales 20mph why ? = 20mph proven to be no safer than 30mph
      ICE cars stop at 30mph very quick.
      It takes the very heavy EV Cars as long to stop at 30mph as it takes an ICE car to stop at 50mph.
      20mph = EV cars cannot stop quick enough at 30mph - they are too heavy and too dangerous for 30mph roads.
      So inreality the new road rulings 20mph and lots of 60/50 mph being lowered to 40mph should only apply to EV - this then puts them on par with ICE in stopping distances.
      EVs have remote stop systems and are tracked so the tech is all already in place to just apply all the new lowered speed limits to EVs.

      It's about the end of oil abundance, these changes have nothing to do with what they say. They don't want people to drive in private cars anymore. They are making driving a car increasingly bad and expensive. They are shaping new habits. In 2o3o many will notice the enormous amount of changes, how things were before 2o2o and how they will be in 2o3o, but perhaps they still don't know the real reason. It's almost never what they talk about, it's almost always about other things. They don't like to tell the truth, they like to do the opposite.

    Agreed with everything you say. It means the journey is taking longer, meaning the engine is running longer. The engine also has to run in a lower gear, so it runs less efficiently, the overall traffic is running slower, bunched more closely together, and all running their engines longer and less efficiently meaning far more pollution overall is being produced. Over the last 4 weeks, the 20 MPH speed limits have been rolled out all across Wirral, despite public consultation outright rejecting there implementation. Along with some of the shockingly poorly executed cycle lane implementations.

    If it's as bad as all that, and the cops see it the same way, and aren't simply out for self-promotion at the expense of others, then they oughtn't enforce it at all! OK, I've been following this trend even though I don't live in the UK. What I'd say is that the 20 MPH limit makes perfect sense applied logically and judiciously in for instance, strictly residential streets that aren't normally used as main arteries for commutes. We have 25 MPH limits in those areas as a general rule, and I'd be more than happy to have it 5 MPH lower although on a hill it's a speed trap. The idea that you have it practically everywhere without discretion outside of highways, is actually ludicrous. What's going on for the motivations of the government officials? Bilking drivers? A means to promote cycling, but without the hard work for infrastructure? The appearance of safety? Look at Central Europe. They apply this kind of thing intelligently in neighborhoods, and in central city areas, not thoughtlessly and not as a substitute for other things like protected bike lanes.

They didnt account for performance cars when they thought this out either. Its just a daft idea thought up by daft people wasting the tax payers money and further breaking peoples mental health. This is surely worst for the enviroment. They do all their tests with little engined cars for these things.

      Been 20 mp within towns in the Scottish Borders for years. Figures have proven that the reduction in the limit has led to a great reduction in serious accidents. Obviously it's far better that car drivers should be allowed to speed through built up areas and mow down lots of kids in an effort to save a few minutes driving. Let them all use our villages as race tracks, after all saving a few minutes in a journey is far better than saving a life.

    Good video, Wirral greedy Council even had the arrogance to say in a newsletter that they are not asking if people agree with the 20mph limits being introduced. They are dictating to us. My Diesel car doesn’t like doing 20, 2nd gear is too low so engine is in high revs, 3rd gear finds revs too low. so I have keep it in 20 to increase pollution and to keep my exhaust system clear. I don’t mind if this limit is put in sensible area’s, but they seem more about creating fines, for the police and council to share like Fagan. How many accidents will it cause, people looking at their speedo instead of road, at least when you run someone over you won’t be speeding. Children shouldn’t run across the road, end off, ( someone was pointing out child deaths).

    This video is full of mathematical and automotive falsehoods. The most important statistic you leave out. Hit a child at 30mph their survival rate is 10%. Hit them at 20mph it increases to 90%. If you don't like driving slow, get a bike or walk. It will do you good.

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quite. Most European countries have a 30kph speed limit in built up areas, pretty much on all roads as soon as you enter the village/town/city. In Germany when you see the yellow sign with the name of the village/town, it's 30kph.

    • @thedrumdoctor
      @thedrumdoctor ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree on the 20mph v 30mph impact damage. I witnessed a child killed at 30mph. Can you possibly expand on the automotive and mathematical errors you have observed please? I’m seriously interested to know what the realities are of 20mph on the internal combustion engine, regarding optimal speed for reduced emissions.
      I looked at WBC’s response to opposition points made on the subject of emissions, fuel efficiency and engine damage and every response was based on “…may reduce…” It seemed there was no definitive evidence put forward to say that 20mph zones had actually proved to have an exact effect on automotive aspects. The death rate statistic is proven though.
      A lot of towns on Wirral it’s not really possible to get to 30 anyway, what with traffic lights, buses stopping, vans unloading etc. I’d love an electric car but they’re still way out of my price range. Those of us still using petrol/diesel really need definitive information on what our cars are emitting at certain speeds. I have a horrible feeling (but no proof) that my 2011 Volvo V50 diesel emits more pollution at 20mph than at 30, but the facts are if I collided with a body at 20 the survival rate goes up. We need more efficient, smaller, cheaper batteries or hydrogen to achieve the balance of speed safety and pollution. But we’re 15 years into serious electric car tech so in terms of car history, imagine what cars were like 15 years after the first Model T Ford. It’s still in its infancy really.

    • @thearcticlord3920
      @thearcticlord3920 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thedrumdoctor He says 20mph increases air pollution because you can't use top gear. It is dependent on your revs not which gear you are in. To move half a ton of metal takes less energy at a slower speed because your acceleration is lower and wind resistance less impactful. He also says doing 20mph takes you twice as long to get there, which is a blatant lie. Obviously this bloke has an axe to grind, increasing climate change, so killing people or forcing migration.

    • @thedrumdoctor
      @thedrumdoctor ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thearcticlord3920 my car doesn’t sound comfortable doing 20 in 3rd gear but it sounds like it almost wants a gear change in 2nd gear. It’s a 6 gear box and in reality, is built for motorway driving. I really need to ditch it for an electric/hybrid. Being a drummer, I need an estate sized car to get to places. I’d happily go electric if I could afford it. 20mph zones should only increase the journey time on each stretch by one third - but even that’s dependent on traffic. Even in 30 zones in towns it’s rare to be able to do a constant 30. I use the train to get to work as there’s not a chance in hell I’d drive to Liverpool every day. But the cost of a train ticket is high. It’s actually more economical to drive with a fast-tag but the killer at the other end is always going to be cost of parking. Other cities have park & ride schemes which work well. I’d like to use public transport more when I’m not at work but again, the pricing structure is nuts! It forces people into making fiscal choices. I remember as a teen in the early 80s buses and trains were very affordable and available methods of transport. By the mid 80s onwards we were pushed into the idea of car ownership equaling independence and success. Easy credit funded car purchases and we are where we are today. When transport deregulation happened and funding stopped for non-profitable bus routes, people simply gravitated towards the economy and convenience of a car. The 80s has a lot to answer for in terms of poor decision making on a global scale. We were sold the usual “you can have it all” lie and the consequences are clearly visible in terms of non-sustainable life choices. Electric car ownership is still a luxury of the better-off and public transport fares are too high for short journeys. They never used to be though. I used to love cycling but I’d be terrified to do that on the roads today. Walking is still a pleasure though.
