MMPR: Billy & Kimberly Putty Fight

- This fight scene is from the episode "Something Fishy". Even though you may've already seen the episode, this is one of my favorite putty fights because Billy shows how his skills have developed. Pause at around 0:16 and you'll see my little note about the fight.

Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly) and David Yost (Billy) didn't do martial arts before the show, though both Johnson and Yost were gymnasts. So they took self defense classes and incorporated their talents into the choreography for the fight scenes
Say what you want about their acting and the writing. There's no denying that these two were extremely gifted acrobats.

I don't think as a child I appreciated how much stunt work was involved in this show... All five actors were incredible athletes and gymnasts. Nowadays they would just have a stuntperson do all the flips and then cut to a different shot for the actor lol.

+Dennis campos Yeap, both actors were nearly Olympic level gymnastics athletes before they got they roles but neither had ANY martial arts backgrounds. It was said that Austin St. John and Jason David Frank helped trained both of them in martial arts.

kim was soo agile and graceful when she faught, she had a unigue style that was all her own!!!

I forgot to mention in the Black Ranger case that Zack also had Capoeira as well. But this one is about Billy and Kimberly, who were BOTH gymnasts. This episode shows it best...
Wow, Billy did a back hand spring! Looks like Kim is not the only gymnast in the team.
David Yost was in gymnastics prior to his acting career! Flips were second nature to him.
l like how at 0:58 instead of trying to fight Kimberly the putties decided to flip with her.
Yeah she had fun with them
That was one of the main reasons why I loved this show growing up
Amy Jo rocked and David is awesome
exactly like a real martial arts expert if your out numbered as Billy and Kimberly were you use the environment to your advantage
You gotta love when Kim does that flying drop kick you hear a hilarious rendition of a funeral dirge. LOL you notice all that bulky padding the Putty has on its back?

He's a power ranger. Back flips are the only way to retrieve lunch boxes.
@Devotedlamb19 The way Billy fights is that he uses the putties' attacks against them. Basically he searches for a way to make the putties hurt themselves

Actually Billy was trained by Trini's uncle.

at least they did their stunts not like all the latest power ranger shows

As long as I've been watching these episodes. What is the point of Rita or Lord Zedd sending out putties to soften up the Rangers, knowing the entire putty Patrol are always going to get their asses kicked?
Like you said it's to soften them up/tire them out before the main event. Better that than letting them face the monster of the week at full strength.

Even Kimberly's a better fighter than Billy, now that's pathetic. I know he's improved here but she totally upstaged him and I didn't get the whole lunch box thing.
