This video just saved me so much hard work and frustration. I accidently got plastic cement on the cockpit of my A-10 and I was so upset, but now I know it can be fixed thank you!
This video helped me a lot with my canopies for my models they look 10 times better thanks and keep up the great work
Mother's Plastic Headlight restoration compound does the trick with out all the extra sanding. Removes all types of hazing, {even from lacquer thinner} scratches, paint, and super glue stains. A small dab on a Q-tip{cotton bud} a few seconds of swirling, and perfection! You also don't have to waste your time with Future, the compound leaves such a brilliant shine. Cool how to though
Interesting. Which one do you use? Mothers? Is that a brand?
Yes, Mothers is a line of car care products here in the U.S. based out of California, everything from wax to tire shine{no I'm not a salesman for MOTHER's} . The headlight restorer comes as a kit. I accidentally spilled some Lacquer thinner on a canopy for one of my P-47 kits, once I was done cursing at myself I remembered I had just polished the plastic headlights on my car the day before so I figured "What the heck, give it a try". The product worked perfectly, it got rid of the haze AND put a far better shine than dipping in Future. Now every time I have a problem with a canopy, I use "Mothers". Like I stated, a little dab on a cotton bud, some soft swirling, paint, lacquer thinner, SUPER GLUE, all is removed by using the compound. The super glue I did have to rub a little harder on, but it still came off. So now I can see better at night while driving, plus I never have to worry about making mistakes on my canopies again.
We have that in NZ too. I thought the Tamiya compound was expensive until I looked for the Mothers compound, at $65 a bottle its not far off the price of a model kit!
@@steveaustin9386 WOW! You're right that's way to expensive. I do realise the bottle will last a long time, but at that price - it should build a model for ya also.
Very well done
Very good work my friend.. thanks to you..😎
Thanks a lot
Great vid on a quite daunting subject, well presented. I do feel the seam line remain a potential weak spot in the canopy after polishing, so they need handling with considerable care.
Revell F15E canopy!! :)
Great, but one cannot use a nail sander/polisher like the one used here on the inside of such a canopy. I’m stuck with scratches on the inside of the canopy of my F-16 kit. What can I do?
For a better result try to use Future or Ak Gauzy Agent after polishing
For me i used sanding sponge what sheet i used
💅
do you only use finish compound or anything
Always use a new blade 👍
Does this work around works for broken/ separated canopies too?
No. broken and cracked canopies are basicly unrepairable.
Hi Dawid. After watching your info on Bartsharp I decided to get one of their 180 airbrushes. But I'm having trouble managing this. 2 calls, 2 messages, 1 email all gone unanswered. It also won't let me pay on their website! Do you know if they have closed down? Cheers Mark
Hi Mark. Sorry for that inconvenience, I really don't know. I don't work for them and I have not talked with them for some time now. And on most recent message i have sent them few weeks ago they also did not replied.
please email me on scalehangar182@gmail.com about your problem, i had their products in use for over 2 years so maybe i can help somehow.
