I wouldn't like their kit kat bars. If there had been no painstaking clip by clip compilation I would suggest you are one of the A1 aliens in your unblinking deliverance-good save [END STAMP]
Ze, you have thus far only collected under 40 000 subscribers on TH-cam, which is nothing compared to the millions upon millions you deserve But your videos, however, have view counts matching the subcscriber counts THAT is a huge testament to your fantastic script and production qualities. Keep on forever and I will be a happy clam forever
I recently subscribed, and I've been going through and watching whichever videos look interesting. The thing is, your videos are just so good, and consistently good, that I've started watching videos with names that don't sound interesting, but that I know will be great, just because you made them. And they are! Thank you for being consistently interesting and funny and insightful, and for sharing that with all of us.
I like this guy and quite respect his out-of-the-box way of tackling issues that are rarely discussed. Having said that, and being a Syrian who lived all his life in Syria; 'zefrank making a video about my country' was quite a good news, but after watching, this video does not live up to its title. To shrink a historical period of 12000 years to a fun-smart-4:41 video, one needs to be hugely equipped with correct, unbiased, and neutral information regarding that subject, especially when he has a clever way into peoples' minds. Not that i don't know the majority are here to watch zefrank regardless of the subject or that these information are of no importance to many, but, well it's my country and i like it presented fairly.
@@ncg-fm3dl They were not fighting until US trained and supplied mercenaries and jihadis were let loose in the country. The Syrian oil was the target besides trying to destroy the Syrian state to weaken the Shia crescent which checks Israeli predation from expanding further. Since the Russians and Syrians, Iranians and Hezbollah have defeated ISIS with the only remaining ones being embedded with US and Turkish troops now the USA has grabbed the oil fields on the most farcical excuse (protect them from ISIS LOL) then you might as well get with the program and accept the USA is a rogue pirate state. It isn't being denied anymore. The one Muslim name above who says it is a good summary, happens to be one of those extremist Salafi or Takfiris. One can see from his name as it happens as one should be able to see from mine I am probably Shia. This guy is the same sect which makes up ISIS! Extremist Sunnis hate Assad family because they have fought their terror effectively for years. The USA sides with terrorists and you'd have to be blind not to see it. By the way, many of those refugees from the Middle East are those ISIS types. They lost so they started running back to their supporters in the West as soon as Russia entered the war and began to turn the tide. The timing alone should tell you but their behaviour which is very un-Islamic actually is familiar as their ways too. Violence, sexual perversions and intolerance is their hallmark and it is being imported by the West, NOT exported by the ME, this is deliberate. I shudder to think why.
I wish you were my history teacher in High School. Not only would we have been done with our daily lesson 5 minutes in to the period, but I would have actually payed attention and enjoyed it.
Today, I saw your video in my subscription box, saying it was uploaded on the 4th of June, I continued to watch it and was surprised to see it was still in the "new video or bad video, 301 views" stage. I thought somehow you might have magically lost your popularity over night. Then I remembered I'm in Australia, where today is now the 5th of June, but you still have to wait for that, which makes me feel like an effortless time traveller. Thanks Ze, for unintentionally making my day awesome.
Thank you for making this. As a medievalist...it makes me very, very happy to see someone explain the Levant in a way that is both hilarious and enlightening... Hats off.
Thanks for the context! History is so fascinating, its strange to think of the ghosts of it as I walk through a street. I like to wonder who has stood there before me and to try think what another person would think in my place.
I actually have to study the material you just went through for my History finals, but this is far better than reading the same summary for 5 hours... Sykes Picot, ftw!!!
I must compliment you on which order you desired to have your hairs shortened. This current style is quite interesting, and from what I can see, it seems to suit you quite well.
Kudos on the copy of Perdido Street Station over your shoulder. Always a sign of good taste in books. Kudos. Three thousand kudos in fact. To do with as you please.
Dear Ze, I think that a video on identity and names is greatly needed, that would be such an interesting topic to discuss as a name in itself is not such an important thing but what comes from having a name and is, catch my drift?
actually my english teacher (who retired last week but taught for 39 years) said you can say an historical or a historical. its mostly down to if people pronounce the H. (like in an english accent people may say "an 'istoric' moment" at least thats what she told me lol
If you ask any academic in linguistics, they will vehemently deny that AN historic is correct usage of AN. AN is meant to come before vowel sounds, not consonantal sounds. Historical has a very clear H sound to it. With that said, because so many people use it incorrectly, some people will argue that it's ok to use. It's just like the non-word "irregardless", used so often that it's now recognized in some dictionaries. Doesn't mean it's correct though. It just means a lot of people are wrong.
We're the MESOPTAAAMIANS! Sargon, Hamurabbi, Ashiburnipal, and GLIGAMEEEESH! Thanks for getting that They Might Be Giants song stuck in my head, ZeFrank! I love history, and you, Ze, make history awesome! Syria is such a complex area, but understanding it's past puts some of it's struggles today into perspective.
so what we don't sleep, so what we hang out. that's how it's sposed to be, living young and wild and free! Thanks for brain ninjaing me. Now said song is stuck in my head! Great video! More sir, more!
Thank you so much for making this video, LOTS of Americans have noo idea what is happening in Syria! I used to live in Syria for a while so thank you for this video!
'an' preceeding 'h' is traditionally used in older, more formal english and i find it easier to use too it's only in more recent times that the use of 'a' is used preceeding 'h'. if ze frank used it, i totally support that.
Thank you so much. I lived in Syria for two years, and I know first hand how it is. Syrians are very nice - in fact, if it wasn't for the government, I'd have quite enjoyed it there. As it was, the Government shut down the American School which I attended, because it was spreading western ideas. This whole situation really frustrates me. Syria is a nice country with so much incredible history (like the first written language!) It just needs a MAJOR change in leadership... But it'll be bloody.
So we sit Ze Frank at one news-type desk and John Green at another news-type desk facing each other and they go at history in a tag-team match that will cover all of civilization in about twenty-seven minutes. I'd pay to watch this.
And seven years after this video, the Syrian Civil War rages on. :( At the time of this writing, it has been eight years and six months since it started.
I love this so much! I was a history major when I was getting my Associates and this is way more interesting and in depth than anything that particular college taught me. Thanks!
I feel like I've been cornered at a party and forced to learn history by a frat boy on amphetamines.
back then kit kat bars were made of goat's intestine and a lump of cinnamon. true fact.
WILL YOU MARRY ME???
SERIOUSLY....LOL
Soo... what happened next?
And then??
I wouldn't like their kit kat bars. If there had been no painstaking clip by clip compilation I would suggest you are one of the A1 aliens in your unblinking deliverance-good save [END STAMP]
i came for a cool history lesson but found myself in an intense staring contest. needless to say i didnt stand a chance
Maybe he's just blinking at the same exact time you are.
I love that he sings Wiz Khalifa's "Young, Wild& Free" at the end of his video. I feel like his head must explode with all of the things he knows.
Ze, you have thus far only collected under 40 000 subscribers on TH-cam, which is nothing compared to the millions upon millions you deserve

Well, looks like your dreams came true!
if you were my history teacher i wouldn't have switched out
sugarcakezz Making excuses for your own inadequacy : D
@Aliearia03 Pleiadian zefrank is my god, amen
This was your most informative video yet, and you always make sure you teach us something while you make us laugh. Thanks Ze!

I thought he nailed it in a well done summary.
it wasn´t about opinion of the ruler but what have happen to the country
I respect your patriotism but being an american i think we need to let the syrians fight and leave them alone
Urgasch Kurto i like the way you put your point accross, world need more people like you of clear mind.

Thank you Ze, That was absolutely amazing and so much information. I enjoy all of your videos, but this one really hit the spot.
This video could do with a lot more views, Ze. Thank you for being just as informative as you can be entertaining.
you are seriously my favorite youtuber. don't ever stop!
Your non-blinking, bug-out eyes are serious skills.
I was just thumbing thru his older videos and saw Syria mentioned. Never expected it going to be so informative.
I just wrote an essay on Syria for a final history project!! Ah Ze, you and your impeccable timing.
BE A HISTORY TEACHER!!!! I honestly learned more about a country in 5 minutes than my teachers would teach me in a week.
I used this video for a project on Syria. It was a risk, but I he really liked it.

This channel was so cool. This is what TH-cam was supposed to be
Relevant video is relevant. Love you, ze.
You should come up a series "history as told by Ze" I would watch every episode.
i love it when you see one of your fave youtubers on another one of your fave youtubers videos. also yay learning!
Brilliant and informative vid Ze! Thanks for being awesome!! :D
This was hella interesting! Plus with Alex Day's intro it's even better!
Thank you for making this. As a medievalist...it makes me very, very happy to see someone explain the Levant in a way that is both hilarious and enlightening...
Hats off.
this is the second time i ve seen alex in a youtubers video where i never would have expected him... awesome!
I love that you have China Mieville's Perdido Street Station on your shelf.
Thanks for the context! History is so fascinating, its strange to think of the ghosts of it as I walk through a street. I like to wonder who has stood there before me and to try think what another person would think in my place.
I got my Ze Frank poster today, it's great. Thanks Ze
Getting better and better, I see.
thank you :)
I've been watching too much Crash Course - I expected the "we're the exception!" film clip to show up when Ze mentioned the Mongols.
History lessons with Ze are awesome.
I actually have to study the material you just went through for my History finals, but this is far better than reading the same summary for 5 hours... Sykes Picot, ftw!!!
I've been watching Crash Course lately and it has really helped me to follow along with this.
dftba
I don't recall ever meeting anyone who spoke this maniccly and didn't have bloodshot eyes.
Excellent as always. Happy context!!
My History teacher was a Drunk who just put on films that were so out of date and context. Thanks for the quick lesson zefrank!
Was that Gavin? From Rosterteeth and the slow mo guys.
Why would you guys ever want him to blink? His eyes are so amazing!
Dear Ze,
I think that a video on identity and names is greatly needed, that would be such an interesting topic to discuss as a name in itself is not such an important thing but what comes from having a name and is, catch my drift?
I enjoy when Ze posts a cram kit on my history textbook so I'd procrastinate on hmwk and get educated at the same time
Feels good to know some things never change...
Good to be in the know. Thanks for getting up to speed on Syria.
oh i love the tags this is really good ze please contiune to make good videos :)
You are a fantastic history teacher.
Omg he said bt-doubleyou just like that girl in Turtles all the way down... Was this an intentional overlap??? Shit's gonna keep me up all night now
He did a vid like this on Somalia during the show, he posted a few updates on it too.
When I first clicked I thought I had mistook a nerimon vid for zefrank. Then I realized it was just an explosion of awesome
actually my english teacher (who retired last week but taught for 39 years) said you can say an historical or a historical. its mostly down to if people pronounce the H. (like in an english accent people may say "an 'istoric' moment"

Syria stays static. Ze zips zealously.
Why... do you keep your eyes opened so wide? IM NEW... But i love your vids thus far! a cornicopia of info like i live my life!!!
Alex Day in a ZeFrank video. My life has come full circle.
Very informative. As a history nerd, I thank you for making this video. :)
Thank you so much for making this video, LOTS of Americans have noo idea what is happening in Syria! I used to live in Syria for a while so thank you for this video!
So you're saying, the people in Somali, Cuba, Columbia etc etc all have a better idea than Americans?
Your hair is quite manic in this video Ze, I approve.
Damn, that was epic! I wish all the history lessons in school were as awesome as that!
awh(: alex day and ze in the same video!! love it
OMG, that tiny speck of white fuzz on your left shoulder is driving me nuts. Let me brush it off... *brushes screen* ARG! It's still there! *cries*.
Not only did I learn about Syria, but now I know to say "an" before "historical", as well as how to abandon a baby. Thanks, Ze!
Alex (Nerimon) intro! Nice. Another good video Ze
That's exactly what I was thinking. I would support Ze having his own series on Crash Course
Alex Day.
I kind of died. A little.
Thanks for that excitement Ze.
You're so kind.
'an' preceeding 'h' is traditionally used in older, more formal english and i find it easier to use too it's only in more recent times that the use of 'a' is used preceeding 'h'. if ze frank used it, i totally support that.
an uprising started in 2011, and it is at a very critical point ~9000 people have been killed in the last year
lmao the so " 'what we get drunk' phase" was so unexpected and well done
btw your TED talk was amazing
I might have enjoyed history class a little more if it had been taught like this. Thanks for the lesson Ze.
Also, this is the FIRST Ze Frank video (it's 2020 now) video in which I actually spaced out in the middle!!! UNHEARD of!
Zefrank,..first off your amazing second, the book on your shelf in the background 'The Art of Game Design' is it any good?
This was an episode of Crash Course: World History brought to you by ZeFrank.
alex day! love. great condensed crash course.
Is it weird that I could almost hear the music sting in my head? Clearly I've been watching too much Crash Course recently.
That would be awsome, especially considering that john said that he was the inspiration for the vlogbrothers
WOW Thanks Ze! I didn't know anything about Syria all that history is so sad for the people!
Thank you so much. I lived in Syria for two years, and I know first hand how it is. Syrians are very nice - in fact, if it wasn't for the government, I'd have quite enjoyed it there. That "So whaaaat we get drunk" joke is HILARIOUS
So we sit Ze Frank at one news-type desk and John Green at another news-type desk facing each other and they go at history in a tag-team match that will cover all of civilization in about twenty-seven minutes. I'd pay to watch this.
Where was my "With the exception, of course, of The Mongols" transition?
And seven years after this video, the Syrian Civil War rages on. :( At the time of this writing, it has been eight years and six months since it started.
Why did you go and get that song stuck in my head?
Those eyes are frightening. Is he propping them open on purpose?
more of these please :)
@zefrank1 you should make more history videos. But slow it down all those ids will make my head hurt
i smell a new mini-series going down
Two surprises in the first 10 seconds. First, Nerimon. Second, Hair cut.
i think that is the best possible situation!
History repeats it self ,, still being invaded all over again. :(
R.I.P Syria
AH HAH. ALEX IN A ZE VIDEO. MY DAY JUST GOT 100% BETTER!
I love this so much! I was a history major when I was getting my Associates and this is way more interesting and in depth than anything that particular college taught me. Thanks!
I always feel like we are having a staring contest, and when the video ends, I win.
True. I feel like I've learned more from them than I ever learned from my history lessons at school.
please do more videos like this (as in history)
Ah, so great.
Can we see your bookshelves, Ze? :D
