It's not a question of who, but what.
It's symbolic as John was in the spirit when he saw this Revelation of Christ
Each tribes has different quality,

But not all from the 12 tribes of Israel will be saved. The new Israel is the Church. If you put this meaning then yes. Elders of the Church are the Holy fathers of the Church but they are multitudes. Not 24. When the time comes we will see if these elders are in heaven or still on earth because people from Israel are within Israel which is Gods kingdom here on earth. We bow in front of the throne of God even now on earth. They do that In the Holy of Holies within the Church during the Liturgy and they haven’t stopped doing this for 2000 years

Angels are referred to as chief princes in the bible. Michael is called one of the chief princes written in:
(Daniel 10:13) But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

When I began public schooling, I immediately saw, with none to teach to me this a form of prophesy, that as our teacher spake, Children let's take attendance and make sure everybody is here. I saw our beginning necessitated attention; a directional, foundational, congregational, one-knee to the floor attendance to the one true teacher, Our Father, which art in heaven...

Baloney!! The 24 elders are the Matthew 27: 52-53 risen saints..Study the Feast of First Fruits and the Wave Sheaf and read what John 20:17 says. When Jesus arose He ascended to heaven as the Wave Sheaf and took the First Fruits saints of Matthew 27: 52-53 with Him. He left them there and returned to earth. This is why He told Magdalene to not touch Him in John 20:17. Yet when He returned to earth after He presented Himself before the Father and left the Matthew risen saints there,, He allowed the disciples to take hold of His feet. Matthew 28:9. He didn't tell them to not touch Him????

I see comments on here and they are correct . The 24 elders are in fact the 12 sons of Jacob, representing the first covenant and the 12 deciples of Yeshua, representing the last and final covenant. 12 sons and 12 deciples equals 24 elders.

or "until we have sealed. . ."
In other words, it is not one and done. This would tend away from Mt. 27:52-53 being only the 144k.
Mt. 27:52-53 "The tombs also were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs" as opposed to Rev. 14:3 b and 4b "redeemed from the earth" and "redeemed from mankind".
Also the 24 appear to be those who were risen in the 1st century, the first fruits at 1 Cor 15:22-26. The 144k are sealed and thus alive, if dead they are already transformed with new bodies, which is a big difference.
When I read Isaiah 66:18-20 "I will place a sign among them and from them I will send survivors to nations . . .", this appear to be the 144k people, as well as those of Ezekiel 14:12-23 appearing to be the same "21 Thus says the Lord God: Even though I send against Jerusalem my four evil punishments-sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague-to cut off from it human being and beast alike, 22 there will still be some survivors in it who will bring out sons and daughters. When they come out to you and you see their ways and their deeds, you shall be consoled regarding the evil I brought on Jerusalem, everything I brought upon it. 23 They shall console you when you see their ways and their deeds, and you shall know that not without reason did I do to it everything I did says the Lord God."
There are billions of people that claim to be Christians and each one has their own interpretation of every verse in the Bible. Every Pastor, Priest, Pope and Rabbi have a meaning to them for every verse in the Bible. The best we as Christians can do, is stay in the Word, LOVE GOD AND JESUS CHRIST more than anyone or anything, be humbled, help those in need and live a GODLY life to the best of your ability.
And especially trust in Christ alone for your salvation and not your own works. That’s the key - it’s the blood of Christ that saves us and gets us to heaven. Romans 3:25

This video strings together a lot of things but misses a key point. The number 24 is representative of the Elders in heaven. Ok, so far. King David established the 24 courses for the service of the Priest. So there is a commonality here. Notice that Zaharias, the father of John the Baptist, served in the course of Abijah, which is the eighth course of the priests.
The number Eight (8) is a significant number-
Noah and his family numbered 8.
A make child is circumcised on the eighth day.
King David was the 8th son of Jesse.
There are Eight Holy Appointed times in Leviticus 23.
Eight notes make a church.
Eight bands of light-pure white light through a prism gives the seven colors of the rainbow. God said, “I will set my bow in the sky.”
Jesus resurrected the third day after Crucifixion on the eighth day of the previous week and the first day of the new week.
In the Book of Revelation, Jesus stands amongst the seven churches-that us, He is the central light and the seven churches reflect His spiritual light to the world!
The earth is 93 million miles from the Sun. It takes a photon just slightly over 8 minutes to reach your eye!
Jesus said, “I AM the light of the world.”
The Church meets on the eighth day because of this New Covenant that Jesus established in His own blood.

These were in Heaven before Jesus arrived in Revelation 5 and opened the Scroll.
If the Scroll hasn’t been opened, we cannot know the visions and prophesies in the Scroll and therefore it can only be in the past.
They are most likely prophets that lived and died before the resurrection of Jesus.

Amen to the Word of God. The book of Enoch talks about this to. Personally I consider my self to stupid to be among the elders, and lucky to get in/ Saved because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. But will sure be a sight to see.

Read 1st thes 4, 16-18. The dead in Christ shall rise 1st. Proof of a pre trib rapture. The seals aren’t opened till the church is in heaven
FYI… there is no rapture as the Eurocentric Christians preach. Read the scriptures carefully because the Messiah/Yahushua said, that for the elects sake (His chosen people/Israelites) the tribulation will be shortened.

How to Read the ‘Rapture’ Verses
My Catholic friends often ask me where this very recent novelty among Christians-the “Rapture” and its multiple accompanying beliefs-comes from.
The theory is elaborate. It espouses a secret snatching away of all true believers in the very near future, causing chaos throughout the world. (One can only imagine the numbers not just of cars but of planes, cranes, and every other kind of heavy machinery that will crash or careen out of control.) This will be followed by a seven-year tribulation period in which billions will die in a horrible persecution and war spearheaded by the Antichrist. Then there will be a judgment, then a thousand-year reign of Jesus Christ on Earth, followed by yet another and final judgment. Whew!
And all of this from folks who believe in the perspicuity of Scripture, mind you.
So where do these beliefs come from? Due to space limits I won’t deal with all of the accompanying beliefs surrounding the Rapture theory, but let’s focus on the three main proof texts most popular among Rapture theorists, verses that every Catholic should be familiar with and be able to exegete properly.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.
Right off the bat, I always ask the question: “Does this really sound like it is going to be a secret?” In defense of the Rapture theorists, I should note that in one sense they agree that this event won’t be secret, because the whole world will have to explain (or explain away) this massive disappearance of millions. But it will be secret in the sense that Jesus himself will not reveal it to the world for what it is.
Nevertheless, I still can’t see how you get “secret” out of an event that is described as being accompanied by “a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.” The truth is, of course, there will be nothing “secret” about the Second Coming of Christ, and this is precisely what St. Paul is describing.
Notice there is no seven-year tribulation mentioned, no millennium. Just as we Catholics would expect, Paul describes this event as the end of all things. “So shall we always be with the Lord.” The end.
1 Corinthians 15:51-55
Lo! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable nature must put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?”
I can’t tell you, when I was an Evangelical, how many sermons I heard (and preached!) on the Rapture that used this language of “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.”
Notice again the “trumpet of God”? This doesn’t sound like a “secret rapture,” either. And neither does it sound like some preliminary coming of the Lord. Just as with the prior passage, in this text Paul is describing the end of the world.
Notice in particular, “O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?” In other words, at this point death shall be no more-and yet, according to Rapture theorists, death will be just beginning! They believe there will be millions if not billions killed during the tribulation and that death will continue even through the thousand-year reign of Christ on Earth. This contradicts the text, because the text actually describes the Second Coming of Christ at the end of time.
Matthew 24:40-42
Then two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left. Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.
This is the text (along with the parallel texts in the other synoptic Gospels) where the famous Left Behind series of books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins got their names. It is taken to mean that one day believers will be secretly “raptured” away and the rest will be “left behind.”
What’s the problem here, you ask?
First, if we read the three verses leading up to this text, we find this:
As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
It seems from the text that the folks who are being “taken away” are being “taken away” to judgment rather than to heaven. He says, “as in those days before the flood . . . they did not know until the flood came and swept them away.”
Secondly, and along these same lines, if we go to a parallel text, Luke 17:34-37, we find this:
I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. There will be two women grinding together; one will be taken and the other left. And they said to him, “Where, Lord?”
If you asked any dispensationalist the question, “Where are those who are ‘taken away’ going?” They would respond, immediately with one word: “Heaven!” But what did Jesus say to the apostles when they asked him where these were going to be taken?
Where the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
The word translated “eagles” is the Greek aetoi, also translated “vultures” and signifying birds who feed on carrion.
That doesn’t sound like heaven, does it?
Please could you explain this view in the light of Rev 14:3. The 24 Elders cannot master the song sung by those bought from the earth. Also that if angels are refered to as princes, it seems logical to me that a prince is royalty and royalty wear crowns.

- The Gospel of Jesus was originally one book, written by Lazarus in consultation with the Apostles [John 21:24] and published soon after Jesus left them on their own.
The religion was hijacked by Rome, the Gospel was broken up scrambled adulterated into a bunch of competing narratives.
Later four of those adulterated gospels were canonized with falsely ascribed authorship and a Gnosticism cover-story.
It was the finding of an original Gospel of Jesus scroll in Jerusalem that gained the Knights Templar power over the Church and their eventual undoing when the church finally retaliated against them Friday 13th.

I agree. Revelation was addressed to churches (chapters 2-3 make that clear). “Elders” would have been understood to be church leaders. I agree the presence of these elders represents the raptured church. You don’t read about the church in chapters 6-18 in Revelation.
The ENTIRE body of Christ is absolutely found in Chapter 7:9-17

I met the 24 elders at Father God Almighty's court room... I don't know about them being raptured though because they are already there with God... I am always in their presence every time I am summoned there but I did not have a chance to meet them personally... And I know they are not pastors... They have the aura of Popes though but more...

How about the four elders and the 4 living creature are part of Atzilut(world of emanation) the first world that comes out of God and they form the council of God ??

My guess would be they were old covenant elders and when they died went to Abraham’s bosom until an ultimate sacrifice was made through the blood of the Lamb, Jesus. After Jesus was resurrected, the graves of many were open and they too were resurrected and then when Jesus ascended, He took them with Him; where then they were seated on their thrones just as they were seen by John in Revelation 4.
I think that the 24 elders are Jesus's disciples of the who he chosed two follow him when he walked the earth.

The 24 represent 12 from old and 12 from new testaments. They are the elders. They were before any others. The rest of the saints come after.
Regardless, better to focus on your salvation and those around you, than to concern yourself with who the elders in the bible are.

The elders are prophets from the old testament.... Elijah, Isiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, etc.
They are the Adams of other creations the Lord Council a symbolic number… read the first chapter of Job and you would see who is representing the earth in that gathering….Adam was supposed to be there, then after his sin, the devil became to prince of this world… remember the temptation of Christ… when he showed him all the kingdoms of the of earth and he said to the Lord that they were given to him… that’s why the Lord is new Adam who claimed and rescued the lost… by His grace.
The things that you're speaking of these are metaphors, they express a deeper meaning or revelation, as long as you see ELOHIM as a man you have no idea how large and how powerful ELOHIM really is he is the All-encompassing All-Seeing all-knowing all-powerful Consciousness and He is KING of all of the shamayim!!!

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 says the gathering unto the Lord (the Rapture) will not happen until FIRST there is a great apostasy AND the man of sin (the antichrist) is revealed. Therefore there is NO pre--trib rapture and the Elders are NOT apart of the future Rapture to come, but are those who were resurrected after Jesus rose from the dead. (Matthew 27:52) When John ascends into heaven the 24 Elders ARE ALREADY THERE. He doesn't see them being Raptured but are already seated as if they have always been there long before John was caught up into heaven. But later when the 6th Seal is opened, John actually does see Raptured Saints. A large multitude from all over the world, have been TAKEN OUT OF the great tribulation. No human can enter heavens only after they are changed from MORTAL BODY into IMMORTAL BODY. Fist such change happened in only one man - Jesus.

Better idea is because we are not told of a pre-tribulation rapture that they would be the dead because the first resurrection happens in revelation 20:5 where it says this is the first resurrection. You can read in 1 Thessalonians where the dead rise first then those that remain will be raptued.
Without adding an opinion this is not debatable. We are told we are not going to face God's wrath. Good 👍 we should all believe that. That doesn't change the facts of what is told.

Hi! May I provide a little, debunk? You were right in the first part. They are people. They are the 12 Apostles and the 12 sons of Jacob. And the Rapture is unbiblical, it was never taught until 1850 and also it was deemed as herecy (part of pre-Millenianism and Appolinarism) in the II Ecumenical Council, Which gave you the 2nd part of the Nicene Creed and is even prior to the Council of Chalcedon, which gave you the Biblical Canon. SO who would you trust - a fringe American Evangelical with a herecy deboonked a millenia ago or the Church, the Orthodox Church.
Well only those 24 would be pretrib raptured because they were the only one along with thousands of angels there in that verse. Later they are ask who all the people that came later a huge amount of people were and it was told they came through the tribulation.

Look up the actual definition of the word ELDER! The 24 elders do NOT represent all raptured saints, THEE ACTUAL raptured saints/ body of Christ are described in Revelation 7:9-17

There is only one resurrection to life before the 1000 years peace. The Bible says the dead in Christ will rise first then those who are alive and remain will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Revelation 20 v 4 to 6 says those who refused to take the mark of the beast were part of the first resurrection. So the mark of the beast must first be here before the first resurrection. Revelation 15 v 1 and 2 confirms this. And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

Revelation:15:2... the mark of the beast happens when the bottomless pit is opened at the 5th trumpet 5 months before the last trumpet.
I believe the 24 Elders came out of the 500 OT Saints that Jesus raised after he was resurrected and went into Sheol and brought them back with the keys to death.

In John’s greeting in Revelation 1, we learn that we shall reign as kings and priests with Him, and yes, they’re in Revelation 4 and 5 in heaven! Raptured and in heaven!

Why do they have to be "raptured" why not just believers

The 24 Elders are the 24 Priesthood Elders appointed in the Temple of Jerusalem by King David 1st Chro 24:7-19 who represented the earthly Priesthood in the Holy place.. Now Jesus the High Priest in the presence of God with His holy blood !! Heb 4:14. A High Priest must keep himself holy according to Torah to enter into the place of holy of the holy with the sacrificial blood yearly once. The Priest wore a long rope around his waist so that if he dies there in case he is unholy upon entering, he was pulled out by that rope. This shows how holy a High priest should be!! Who are symbolical to Jesus!! They were successful so they were given the honour as 24 Elders!!
